It was another average day on base. Inigo was spending his free time in the library, poring over a few choice books, and occasionally looking up articles on a laptop sitting nearby to supplement whatever he was reading in the books. Every so often he'd jot down something in a notebook off to one side, then continue to read from either source.

A long, green-striped neck snaked out from under the desk to nudge his arm, and Inigo fumbled a hand over to pet the large head without looking away from his research, although a warm albeit absent-minded smile appeared on his face as he stroked the large Meganium. A slender Deerling weaved around the legs of the desk, making sure to stick close to her trainer and Leilani as she watched the goings-on in the library with curious gray eyes. She was gaining more confidence, the brown-skinned teen noted absently as he reached down to pet her head too, then pulled up an informational page about Deerling on the laptop as he vaguely wondered exactly when she would evolve. Hopefully soon.

A single leaf shed from the dilapidated Cheri berry plant smothered close to the agent's body. It didn't look as if she had cared for the dried out, sorry excuse for a plant in months. It didn't bare and of the spicy berries that was the usual for a plant of this nature, and there was a certain someone who wasn't too happy about it.

Skye scampered along behind the brown eyed agent. In front of her. And through her legs as well. Cal stopped, allowing the Raichu to run into her legs, than continued on, hoping that he had gotten the message. It seemed to work for a little while, but he was at it again as soon as his attention span ran out. He was a pain... But he wouldn't be so fussy if she hadn't have let this plant die.

Her black hair grazed her shoulder as he reached her destination, peering into the quite library. Not much life present, but that was ok. She wasn't looking for much company. She shuffled through the library to a promising shelf. Side stepping a boy and his pokemon, she place the dieing plant on the table, shifting her attention to the books while Skye did his best to peek up at the plant.

The girl and her Raichu didn't even register in Inigo's mind - not until the plunk of the pot on the table drew his attention. His bright green eyes drifted to it, then returned to his research, only to do a double take and zero in on the pitiful looking plant.

There was a distinctive snick as the laptop closed.

"Is that a Cheri plant?" He asked, perking up considerably as he studied the plant from where he sat, fingers itching to examine it. It was in a deplorable state - nearly dead, but nothing that couldn't be remedied with care.

Leilani perked up as well, her large head poking up from under the table when she heard Inigo say 'plant'. "Niuu?"

It took the brown eyed girl a second to realize that there was someone talking to her. She would have just ignored it, but he seemed interested in her plant. "You could tell?" She turned from the shelf to look in his direction. When she really looked at him, she realized that his pokemon were grass type. It was likely that he had a thing for plants.

Cal peered over at the books clustered around the boy. They looked like they were all dealing with plants in one way or another and he had been taking some diligent notes. Was it some sort of research project that new recruits had to do? She straighten up, barely offering a smile, "It's kind of on the dead side. I was going to see if there was any way to revive it." The only reason she was here was so that Skye would stop bugging her about the silly little plant.

Skye waved his tail at the intruding Meganium with a threatening "Rai." She couldn't get close to his plant if she wasn't going to help.

Could he tell. Pfft. "Claro que si," he replied with a small wave of his hand that turned into a gesture at the plant. He refrained from touching it since the Raichu seemed rather protective of it. "It's one of the most common types of berries and incredibly distinguishable - even half-dead I can recognize those types of leaves a mile away. Ah.. I did a full study of all of the berry plants when I was still in high school," he elaborated with a sheepish half-grin as he leaned back against the chair, rubbing the back of his neck a bit. "That's how I could tell." It was obvious to him, but he realized... probably not a lot of people did full studies of the tons of different berry-producing plants.

Her assessment of his current research subject was correct, in a certain sense anyway. It was more... utilizing Team Rocket's supply of articles on more.. practical applications of his line of research. "Of course there is," he said brightly, leaning a bit closer to see if he could study it a bit better. "Yeah, it's not too far gone."

Cal placed a hand on her chin as she watched the new face examine her plant. "You seem to know what your talking about." She was actually glad that this guy knew his stuff, or appeared to at least. It would be easier to ask him what she needed to do then to look up the information herself. She gave him a slight smile as he observed the dying thing, "Well, since it looks like you know your stuff." She pulled up a chair beside him, "Could you remedy my situation and save this poor plant?" It was for a good cause after all. Skye would be much happier and calmer and she would really appreciate that.

Skye took this chance to climb onto Cal's lap. He leaned in to touch the plant, following a small leaf fall onto the table. His face fell as the leaf crunched under his paw.

"I'd hope so," he said with a light chuckle. "I've certainly done enough research on plants. I studied botany en la universidad," the teen explained idly as he plopped the notebooks on top of the laptop, then pushed the whole display aside. Her question was all the invitation he needed, so he muttered a polite "'scuse me" as he pulled the pot just a couple inches closer - the Raichu seemed rather attached to it, so he didn't want to pull it completely away - and immediately started examining it. He felt the leaves - heard them too - and felt the soil, even taking some between his fingers to examine it.

"Well, it is pretty bad," he said at length, but a lop-sided smile appeared on his face. "But still, as bad as it is you can still save it. Shouldn't be too hard, Cheri plants are usually pretty hardy little things. I'd suggest re-potting it entirely - the soil is pretty much all dried out now - so some new stuff would do wonders for it. Especially if it's got fertilizer in it, that'll help it a lot," Inigo explained as he reached down to pull a bag into his lap; it had been behind the large Meganium still laying on the floor. She was practically laying on it. Regardless, he set it down and fished around in it briefly before he pulled a bottle of water from it. He'd been saving it for himself - research was thirsty business - but plants trumped everything else, so he was perfectly happy to pour a healthy amount of it around the base stem of the plant. Carefully, though, of course - he didn't want it to go through onto the table - then started twisting the cap back on the bottle. "Leilani, a little help por favor," he said as he put the bottle back in his bag.

The Meganium crooned happily and stoo--thunk. Another croon - more hesitant than the last - and the grass-type moved out from under the table before she stood this time. Her large gold eyes zeroed in on the pitiful looking plant, so she snaked her neck over to take a sniff at it. Oh, poor thing! But he was right, it could still be helped, so with a twitch of her antennae and a deep breath, she slowly exhaled on it. After a moment and a tilt of his head, Inigo patted her neck and said "one more time," so the Meganium happily obliged by exhaling on the plant once more.

"That should do it," he said, patting Leilani's head and studying the plant still. It looked the same as before, but results were never immediate. "I'd re-pot it today though, 'cuz that's just a quick, temporary fix, but it should be fine until then."
