Hobbies: ♔ GardensMarley is one of those people that believes food should be something you should always get fresh. So she started gardening to grow her own plants for food. Eventually though, this grew into much more than a way to live sustainably. Now she simply enjoys it. She managed to convince the caretaker at Destiny City Cemetery to allow her to have a little garden off to the side where the dirt is too shallow to allow burials. That is where she keeps her garden because she is sure that her stepfather would most likely ruin any attempts that she would make of building one at their house. Marley goes to her garden every day to take care of it and doesn't mind if people come asking for some of her fruits or vegetables. She is willing to share with anyone that is interested. She often brings her younger siblings when she can so that they can help her tend to the garden.
♔ SingsMarley absolutely loves to sing. Music is her escape and something that she can do anywhere. She sings in the shower, while walking, while gardening, at the cemetery, and during anything else that she can do while singing. Sometimes she'll perform at small venues for free. Marley doesn't want to get paid to sing. Her voice is a gift to her and as such, she likes to share it without any kind of reward, like money. If she could become part of a band or make her own band, that would be great. It would be one more excuse for her to not be at home dealing with her stepfather.
♔ Visits the CemetarySome would find it weird to find out that Marley visits the cemetary every Sunday and brings food with her, including a bag of bread. But she isn't there to do anything bad or weird. In fact, she goes to visit her deceased relatives' graves. If she had just clipped some flowers from her garden, then she'll put them on graves that have no flowers. She likes to sit down by her grandparents' graves, sets out food for them, and waters down the tombstones so they don't get thirsty. It used to be a tradition for her to do with her grandparents but since they passed away, she now does it by herself. Marley brings the bread to feed the birds in the area while she sits and talks to her grandparents' graves.
Virtues: ♔ Brave: "able to face and deal with danger or fear without flinching"Marley was always considered brave for a girl but it wasn't till after her mom married her stepfather that her bravery really stood out. Marley is rarely ever scared of anything. She's had to live with an abusive stepfather and doesn't even flinch when he threatens to hit her. Marley is the only one that her mom will stand up for because her stepfather isn't her real father. But her mom does nothing to protect her three younger siblings, so Marley took on that role. She'll face him down, even if he is four times her size, to keep her siblings safe. Bravery is not only something that comes naturally to her but it's a necessity in her life.
♔ Diligent: "characterized by care and perseverance in carrying out tasks"Marley is diligent in any task that she does. If she is doing homework, she'll take care to do it correctly and go over it to make sure there are no mistakes. If she is doing her tutoring job, she makes sure to be diligent about teaching her students everything that they need to know to pass their English classes. This also applies to her hobbies, she will always do her best to be diligent in everything that she does.
♔ Patient: "able to wait without becoming annoyed or anxious"Marley is a patient person. The only time she loses her patience is with her mom and stepfather. Other than that, she can pretty much wait and wait without getting anxious or annoyed. Most of the things that she does requires patience. When she tutors those that are younger than her, it requires a lot of patience to help them learn something that they have a hard time with. It takes a lot of patience for her to see the fruits of her labor in her garden. Marley simply believes that you can't rush things and to her patience is what helps her through the tough times.
Flaws: ♔ Envious: "painfully desirous of another's advantages"Marley can be content with the life that she has been given but most of the time she is extremely envious of those with better lives, especially those born into great lives. She can also become envious of those girls that have the time to dedicate to a boyfriend. She feels like dragging a boyfriend into her life with all the problems that she has would be totally selfish of her. So Marley will watch and come up with schemes to make well-off people not so well-off. One time, she had spread a rumor to break up a couple. The guy was one that she had crushed on for the longest time and she was incredibly jealous of the lucky girl, so she spread a rumor about the girl having an STD. It took to the halls like raging bull on steroids. In the end, she felt bad but it still felt good to know that the girl no longer had the guy.
♔ Outspoken: "given to expressing yourself freely or insistently"If Marley cares about someone or something, she'll have something to say. She's the type of girl that will say what she thinks when she wants to say it. She will even talk over someone else to make her point or to purposely drown someone out, thinking their opinion is stupid. Marley, of course, isn't always on the right end of things but she'll still speak her mind as if what she has to say is incredibly important. This has caused her to get into huge arguments with her mom and stepfather. She is also prone to speaking her mind to strangers which can be a good or bad thing depending on the unlucky person. For the most part though, strangers don't like Marley giving them her opinion.
♔ Worrywart: "tends to dwell unduly on difficulty or troubles"Marley worries a lot. Mostly she worries about her family situation and if she'll be able to get a scholarship to go to DCU. Sometimes though, she worries so much that it makes it impossible for her to do anything else because all these horrible thoughts just overcrowd her head. Marley is especially worried about her siblings and what will happen to them when she moves away. She also worries a lot about if she's smart enough or well-rounded enough to get a scholarship. If she can't get a scholarship, she won't be able to afford college at all.
Physical Description:Hair: Marley has thick purple hair that falls midway down her back. She keeps her bangs swept to the side of her face. Her hair is usually pulled back with a clip, creating a poof at the top and she usually likes to wear a flower in her hair where the clip is.
