It was... weird.
But in a good way?
Tony wasn't actually sure how he felt about being back in work. He knew he liked being back in his routine, forming a new one to compensate for his need to be out patrolling more often. He liked being back in the library, though it was backed up to a mind boggling degree and he had more work ahead of him then he could even fathom getting done yet.
That made his increased patrol schedule even more complicated.
He was hard at work in the library, then, as the sun went down. He wasn't thinking about patrol yet: that would be after he signed out for the night. he had too much else to do. One of the doors on the out side deposit had broken and, because apparently no one else in the library was qualified to do it, it was some how his duty to fix it. How the place was still standing without him there, he didn't know.
But maybe he was just being a little bitter about it.
He stepped outside to fix it, and that's when it happened. Just like old times. something slammed into his back, pushing him against the drop box with enough force to knock the wind out of him. He fell over sideways, gasping for breath, and the thing was on top of him in a flash. A youma, he quickly realized, without seeing it.
Unlike old times, however, he was not helpless. He just needed to get his breath back.

It seemed the whole shebang in space had ended recently. Although Sinon was a bit guilty about not becoming more involved in the situation, she didn’t feel completely remorseful. She had regularly sent up supplies to the Surrounding, after all. Yet, the freckled redhead felt disappointed by the fact that she hadn’t utilized the opportunity to visit the Surrounding. The only places she had visited in space were her home planet as well as Pomona’s, nothing else. At the very least, the senshi of lies was glad to hear that the trapped civilians made it back home.
Earth was the same as always, though. Throughout the ordeal, there had still been youmas to defeat, civilians to save. Her responsibilities hadn’t changed at all—to be honest, she had selfishly hoped that she could have gotten at least a couple days of break from her nightly patrols, but alas, that was not so.
Sinon cruised through the streets on her skateboard, just like usual. It was obnoxiously slow compared to the incredible speeds powered individuals could easily achieve, but she still stubbornly used it as transportation, senshi or civilian. She let the low hum of her wheels scraping against granite fill ears as she searched around town.
There was a loud howl.
Normally, she would have ignored it. Dogs always loved to bark and yowl at the moon. Sinon could never comprehend why they did, but that was why she was a human, not a dog. But unlike a domesticated pet, this sounded feral, even menacing. Immediately she followed the source and found a familiar man buried under the canine monster.
She hopped off her board and stepped toward him. “Hold o—“ Wait. That guy looked familiar, didn’t he? Startled, Sinon stopped and scrutinized him more, but quickly shook her head and rushed over to kick the dog in its side. “Take that!” The senshi stared down at the civilian and she choked.
I-It was Tony! Holy crap!

Tony didn't notice Sinon until he was already focusing on powering up. The moment he felt the youma's weight off of him, thanks to Sinon's kick he would later find out, he moved to push up to his feet and summon his shield to his hand. The transformation was fast and soon enough he was standing once more, except dressed completely different than how he had been before.
He wasn't Tony, librarian and generally nice guy any more. He was Camelot, Squire of Earth.
He blinked at the senshi, feeling her aura immediately and wondering how he had missed her standing right there. He looked at her and opened his mouth to say something, then closed it again. She had to have seen him transform. What if it had been an agent of chaos standing there? He could have blown his cover, put Nathan and Dogby in danger, and all his friends. He could have gotten himself killed, by not being more careful.
He shook his head, remembering there was a youma to defeat before they could really talk. He held his shield up, green crystal glistening under the street lamp's light.
The youma charged at Sinon, apparently not liking being kicked. But it wasn't as big as it had first looked, at least.

One moment she saw Tony. The next moment she saw a knight. The transformation seemed normal to Sinon—she had gone through a similar sequence countless times, but as soon as she registered the fact that this knight was the librarian, a twisted, confused sound rumbled out of her throat. Huhhhh? Her jaw dropped and she could have sworn she heard it clank to the ground. Caramel eyes curiously looked the knight head to toe. Dude, he looked pretty bamf. It was like he had walked straight out of some medieval book, shield in hand. Speaking of, she leaned forward to get a better view of the design. Seriously. Why couldn’t senshi get cool things like that?
A green gleam caught her attention and she paid a closer look at the crystal embedded in his shield. Was that a—
She had spent too much time staring at Tony-turned-Camelot, because the dog creature easily rammed into her and sent her spiraling through the air and skidding across the street a few yards away. “AW SHI—“ The temporary burns dissipated as Sinon hissed, scrambling back to her feet again. Flicking off specks of gravel from her arms, she spun around to find the youma already turning for another round at her. Her mind frazzled, she settled for bringing her arms out in a baffling attempt to stop the thing with her bare hands.

Camelot saw the way the youma was charging back at her, and couldn't do much, if anything, to warn her before it slammed into her. He grimaced and watched her go flying, scrambling after her.
Camelot was still pondering just how long she had been there. Clearly long enough to see him transform, there was no way she could have possibly missed that. Yes, she was a senshi, but even they weren't safe any more to just trust without question.
Things were very different now.
"Are you alright?" he asked, puffing once he reached her. He offered her his hand, though she was getting up already. The youma was spinning around, though it took a moment to turn with the momentum of its charge. Camelot moved to plant himself in front of Sinon, holding his shield in front of them. The youma slammed into it, and Camelot grunted at the force. He swung his shield, though, and the thing went flying. It wasn't as strong as it looked.
One good hit would likely dust it.

She had only heard through the grapevine about the DMC senshi. In the large-scale battles Sinon recalled Ares’ presence, but never once had she personally spoken with the senshi of smoke—correction, the princess (er, queen?) of smoke. She had yet to encounter a Dark Mirror Court senshi, but she felt confident that she would be able to tell the difference. DMC senshi were servants of Chaos, so surely she would be able to sense the difference between purity and chaos, right? …Right?
“Oh. Yeah! Yeah, just peachy, Tony. Just peachy.” The name had slipped out subconsciously. She had just seen him transform. She didn’t know his powered name. She had completely forgotten, even if only for a second, that civilian names should not be spoken. Quickly realizing her error, Sinon looked like a deer in headlights as she stammered, “I mean uh—Uh—K-Knight—“ She deflated as he protectively stood in front of her and pushed the thing away. Wow. That was pretty damn cool.
“So, uh, yeah—I’m Sinon! Senshi of lies and…” She averted her gaze to the ground and pouted as she reluctantly admitted, “I’m Sydney. Sydney Martin?” It seemed only fair. She knew his civilian identity, so he should know hers too.
Introductions aside, she hastily sidestepped Camelot and waved her arm to deal a blow herself, “Web of Lies!” It was immediately covered in the large web, and it shrieked as the threads gradually tightened, trapping it and painfully squeezing it.

Camelot looked panicked.
"Camelot!" He corrected with a look around. There was no one else nearby, and he did not feel any auras, but he still didn't like the idea of his real name being used while he was powered up. That just screamed for trouble, and he really didn't want trouble of that kind. It did occur to him, fleetingly, that she knew his real name, which meant they must have met before, but he didn't recognize the senshi off the bat.
He should either feel bad about not recognizing someone he had met before, or put together that he only knew her in their civilian lives. At the moment, he didn't do either, putting it to being too busy with the youma to really think about it.
She fixed that whole problem by introducing herself properly.
"Sydney!" He looked surprised, then shut himself up because he was doing just what he had not wanted her to do. He looked sheepish. His eyebrows lifted though as she attacked, and the youma was trapped in webs. He was impressed by the attack, nodding his head. The youma squealed and tried to free itself, then took his shield and smashed the thing in the face for good measure. It was already on the road to dust, though, and burst. He smiled, nodding his head.
"Well. Ah. Sinon. It's a pleasure to... meet you. Again. Ah... I didn't mean to power up like that... I didn't realize you were... right there." He looked down at the floor.

“Camelot.” Wait, that was the name of some medieval kingdom, right? Was Camelot even real? She couldn’t remember. Sinon didn’t research things like that, but she knew Camelot had knights and stuff. At least that part was pretty fitting for the older knight.
He repeated her name and Sinon clenched her teeth, her expression filled with uneasy dread as she frantically searched the vicinity for any signs of life. She didn’t sense any other energy signatures, but the redhead couldn’t stop herself from panicking. While Sinon had been more open to flinging around her civilian identity when she first powered up, a year had done a lot to change her view considerably. Once Camelot walked over to bash the youma and speed up its death, Sinon relaxed her shoulders. She heard the familiar hiss of crumbling dust and she took it as her cue to end her attack, the webs fading out of sight just like the youma remains.
“No problem…Camelot.” It would probably take a while for her to get used to the idea of the librarian being a knight. Camelot might’ve been acting awkward, but Sinon was determined not to turn the conversation into an awkward ball of fumbling awkwardness. She forced out a laugh and lightly bumped him on the shoulder with a gloved fist. “So! Didn’t know you were a knight? And you’re uh…a squire now, was it? Squire? Yeah! How’s that coming along?”

Camelot looked bashful.
"Well, it's going just fine, I think. I am learning quite a lot about being a knight and all that. I think I can take care of myself fairly well. Except just now. Ah. Obviously. But that is just a fluke, surely." He cleared his throat. It wasn't, really. He often got surprised by youma, or over powered in fights. Still, he was doing his best.
That counted for something.
"How are you doing? We could probably go into the library and have some peace and quiet to talk. No one is in there, of course." It was after hours, and he had just left the place for the night. But he wanted to talk to her, to catch up and talk about her being a senshi and him not knowing. Had she been one for long? When they played tag, or he stole that car, had she been a senshi then?
Awkward.
He smiled though, and looked genuinely pleased to see her now that the danger had passed.

Sinon beamed, glad to hear of Camelot’s progress. He didn’t exactly sound the most convincing, but he was a squire now. She could feel it. Camelot had experience so that had to count for something at least. She herself was having somewhat of a difficult time with utilizing her new attack. Sometimes it worked, and sometimes it just went everywhere and made a mess of things, especially when she wasn’t aiming.
“Good! It’s starting to get chillier since summer’s over and all that.” Her shoulders slumped at the thought. She missed the days she could afford to sleep in on a regular basis and could just be lazy all month long. Sinon appeared to reinflate at the mention of the library. Oh yes, good times! She could recall playing hide-and-seek in the library. The details were vague—how well had the game gone? But it seemed like a positive memory nonetheless.
“Talking! Yeah that’s good. Hey, do you know any other knights? And what do you like, do? You’re good, right?” She hopped over to pick up her fallen skateboard. Sinon hadn’t met very many knights and although they’d been around for a while, she had yet to properly talk to one of them. She was curious.

Camelot nodded his head, smiling. He had missed her, since the last time they had seen one another felt like an eternity ago. Surely it hadn't been that long, but so many things happened so fast, especially ever since he had powered up, he had a hard time keeping track.
And it seemed he had missed quite a lot, not that he would have ever known. She was a senshi, and she seemed to be a capable one at that.
"I'm good, yes. Well. I guess labels are dangerous. I'm not chaotic, if that helps, and I serve the innocent. I just want to keep people safe, and alive, and make sure there's a planet to live on when this war is finally over. If we can end it without one side wiping the other out, anyway."
He sighed.
"I do know a few other knights, yes. I have a little team, and we do what we can. What do you do? You haven't been around the library, so I can assume it's not reading or playing hide and seek."

“Labels are dangerous?” She stared at Camelot curiously, but shrugged it off once the older man answered her question. It was the response Sinon had been searching for, and she wouldn’t bother asking unnecessary things. Her lips twisted into a form as she scratched back of her head at his last remarks. “A war, huh? I think so much about the simple day-to-day stuff I tend to forget that sometimes.” Then she laughed and patting the knight on the back. “Whatever the outcome is, I’m sure it was meant to be.” But Sinon sincerely hoped that at the very least the world wouldn’t fall into the Negaverse’ clutches.
Her eyes took on a curious, childish glow at the mention of his team. “You have a team? Cool! I used to have one, but we don’t really meet up anymore.” She flicked her gaze toward the gaze while she pouted. “Er. Yeah. I’ve been focusing on school when I haven’t been out patrolling and stuff.” Sinon nearly gasped at the mention of the game. “You know what we should do?! We should play it again! Oh wait. That won’t work, huh? Then…Then…TAG. Let’s play tag!” She was working herself up into an excited, bubbly state.

Camelot shook his head, not sure if that was what he meant, per se. He was surprised when she said she did not think about the war too much, though that was probably a good thing. It meant she was adjusting, at least.
Or adjusted. Or in denial? It was either healthy or very not, but at the moment Camelot was leaning toward the former rather than the latter. She just seemed content and capable at a glance.
He waved his hands expressively when she leaped at the chance to play tag with him, shaking his head as well.
"No, no, no, that's not what I meant... ah... well..." he looked around. Maybe it would be a little beneficial to play some tag. Racing away from each other, powered, they could do a lot more than they could when they were powered down, couldn't they? So it would be a good chance to practice what he was not particularly good at (all that physical stuff. He was not a teenager any more).
He chuckled and changed his mind.
"Alright, tag then."

Was it adjustment or was it denial? Maybe a little bit of both on Sinon’s part.
Her excitement deflated at Camelot’s outright rejection of her idea. “No tag…?” The senshi’s bottom lip quivered as her eyes widened and…watered? “Didn’t we have so much fun playing hide-and-seek last time?” Sinon couldn’t remember if the librarian actually had any fun, but at least she had been thoroughly entertained by the game. Camelot’s voice drifted off and glimmers of hope spread across her face. Was the knight changing his mind? She leaned in, anticipating his next words.
Then she pumped her fists. Yes! “Then…” Her expression turned sly as she shot forward to touch him on the shoulder before darting away. “Tag, you’re it!”

Camelot saw the way Sinon had looked disappointed for a moment, and was glad that her feelings perked right up. A game of tag wouldn't hurt either of them, he justified and it made her happy.
And then he was 'it' and he wondered if he had made the right choice.
"Hold on, now!" He laughed, moving to follow her. At least powered up he was stronger, and thus so was his leg. He didn't have that limp, which was no longer an injury so much as a part of him. He would never be rid of it. He charged after her.
She was smaller and obviously far more used to running around like this than he was, but he was hoping his power boost as a Squire might help him at least level the field a little. Maybe. He was still older, though, and a full grown man that did not run very often. Save when he had to.
Never for fun.
He knew the basic rules at least. Run. Catch. Tag. Run away. What would happen, though, if he never caught up? Worst game ever.
