Now look at this. This is a band called Eris Is My Homegirl. They appeared in a show called Must Be The Music on of three mainstream tv stations here. And honestly - would you imagine they could not just get to the show, but actually win a semifinal against all those finely singing poppy singers? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oskGD_Nu6g0

I really hate Deathcore, but that band wasn't terrible, there was a few parts I enjoyed, like that random Ska interlude.
So what did the judges think, I got that they let them in, but...did they actually enjoy it?
That blonde chick on the judges panel looked horrified at first, but then seemed to actually be enjoying it towards the end. Same with that one dude.

They all were YES.
And the blonde chick is a big star of Polish rock - a really special person here who would make a big international career if she wasn't doing her career in the communist Poland. I was quite surprised she agreed to be the judge.
She said I was waiting for you all my life after this particular performance.
This particular guy you're talking about liked the rhytmics and the fact they actually were playing as one organism.
And then the other guy on the jury is all for it - he's the youngest though.
And the woman in glasses gave them YES because she can hear if something is played well musically or not - she doesn't go deep into whether she likes it or not.
Honestly speaking their yesterday's performance was even better than this. I just have no link yet.

Thats cool. I really don't like the genre they asre playing in but I liked them, and they all seem young, and judging from their music and performance they have worked pretty hard. It'd be cool if a label signed them whether or not they actually win the competition.
Do you have a link to that Polish singers project? I wouldn't mind checking them out either. I like most Polish Rock/Metal projects I've heard.

You know what's most funny? The winner gets to perform during the open air New Year's Eve show along some of the biggest Polish pop stars that this tv station is organizing in one of the big cities. I mean - imagine Rihanna or Beyonce with a support from Eris Is My Homegirl xd As for Kora (that's her stage nickname - real name is Olga Jackowska) - her newest single is Ping Pong - here's a ling to some live performance of that song: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kklaguEW4j8And here is the biggest hit from her debut album with Maanam (her first band) recorded 1981: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1DpvQ_oXwq8

I actually thought their other performance was better, the only reason this one seemed better was because of the fancy lights. But the other song they had seemed stronger, with better music and transitions. And holy s**t, the judge with the hat on the far right speaks really fast. On another note, I kind of feel I'm picking up Polish a little bit, which is weird because aren't most Slavic languages Cyrillic based?
And I'm actually Enjoying Kora's music, both her newer stuff and older stuff, I just wish I could find on youtube something of hers that isn't recorded live. And Yeah, I thought she was in her mid forties.

LOL. Perhaps he is speaking fast. Not too fast for me, though wink . I'd say that slavic languages are 50-50 in terms of based on cyrillic or latin aphabets. Let's see....
Latin: Polish, Czech, Slovak, Slovene, Kashubian, Lower and Upper Sorbian (7) Cyrillic: Russian, Ukrainian, Belarussian, Bulgarian, Macedonian, Rusyn (6)
And then you have the serbio-croatian languages with 4 national dialects (Serbia, Croatia, Bosnia, Montenegro) which use both alphabets.
So, yeah, that would be 50-50. You could try to count in terms of how many people use which group. The alphabet would most likely being connected with the christianity branch a specific nation chose as their religion some 700-1000 years ago.
In terms of speaking - the alphabet doesn't matter.
And as for Kora - try Maanam - this should give you the old old work of Kora.
