She wasn't really startling to settle really but she was at least betting to the point that she could cope. Half the people she knew thought she was nuts so she'd eventually just stopped talking about what had happened to her. It was easier that way too. If she didn't talk about it she could just not think about it.

There were some things she couldn't just forget though. She'd made two friends up there and she hadn't been able to find either of them. She -knew- they had to be alive. From what the news papers said everyone who disappeared had come home but ... where were they. She wasn't actually sure if she'd hug them or punch them first but she was going to do something embarrassing when she found them.

The experience though at least made her go to school. She liked her new school too. She could basically do what she wanted and if she didn't want to go home until the crack of dawn she didn't have to. She liked it there anyway. The other students understood. They'd been there with her. They'd seen the things she had and they'd died with her. If she mentioned aliens in short skirts no one batted an eye.

So she spent most of her time at school and found herself around lunch time nibbling on the remains of a bagel when she spotted a chunk of brown hair that was really familiar. Looked like a boy's hair cut ... adorably fluffable ... "AMY!"

Dropping what was left of her bagel she tore across the patch of grass separating her and her friend, practically tackling the other girl.

Amy was humming to herself - a newer tune, one that she had missed while being absent from Earth. She didn't really know how to handle the whole aspect of being in space, dying...and then coming back like almost nothing had happened. It had been impossible to go back into the normal realm of life, and being in a new school helped that a lot. The lack of sports was disheartening, but there was nothing stopping her from keeping on her nightly runs.

She bounced through the cafeteria, deciding what she'd eat for lunch - a mixture of healthy and not so much. Pizza and a side salad. Perfect! Exiting the building to take in the wonders of nature, Amy had no idea what had hit her until she was on the ground.

"Owww," she moaned, not realizing who had tackled her. Her pizza was a lost cause, but at least the salad...wasn't?

"Jocelin!!!"

"Sorry ...well not really. I guess i can say the ground hit you for me." She grinned as she shifted and sat up on her knees so Amy could get off the ground. "You disappeared and I couldn't find you. I've been looking for days."

Not to mention the time at the Surrounding where she hadn't been able to find Amy. She didn't really like remembering how lost she'd felt when she knew she hadn't been around to protect her friend. "Are you alright .. i mean, all things considering."

"I guess that is your type of hello," Amy laughed. It took her a moment to realize that her eyes were glossy and damp. She didn't want to cry, but she was just so happy. She spent a moment to toss out her lost pizza, and make sure that her salad was indeed still good. She went to find a place to sit, ready to chat away with Jocelin. It felt like way, way too long since she had seen her.

"I'm adjusting," she admitted. "Though it's much nicer being here than back at Meadowview for me. How have you been doing?" She paused, her tone lowering. "Have you heard from...Regina at all?" Amy hadn't, and it did make her worry...was she just far away, out of reach?

"At least here i'm not stuck with nuns." She nodded. She did like HITS better than her old school. It seemed like such a better place. They actually let her do geeky stuff when she wanted to and no one had said anything about her arting habits either.

The question about Regina caught her off guard a bit as she followed Amy over to a bench and flopped down. "No ... i think she was older than us so I don't even know if she's at the school." She hadn't really had time to go wandering the city either. Regi could be anywhere. "But she's got to be somewhere. I mean ... they said everyone came back in the news papers. She's got to be okay." She would like to see her though. To know that Regi really was alright.

Amy started to pick at her salad, as it wasn't going to help anyone if she skipped lunch, especially for the rest of her classes for the day. With the fork still in her mouth, she mumbled a bit before the lightbulb went off in her mind.

"Hey, why don't we try together after school? Are you free then?" For some reason, Amy was thinking that it would work better with two people looking for one person...which wasn't really true but the moral would certainly be up. They had two out of their little trio together, how much more work was it going to be to find their little missing piece?

"I'll let you tackle her, though. Ouch, I'm going to bruise from that one, Joce," Amy winced.

"Sorry i just .... well you'd been missing and all." She hadn't been able to help herself. She'd just been so excited when she finally saw Amy that she'd just done the first thing that came to mind. It probably didn't help though that most of her mass was muscle and not pleasant to run into.

She leaned back on her hands and looked up at the clouds. It was so good seeing those instead of stars now. "I'm free. I don't have volunteer work today, they told me to take some time off anyway, and everything else i can do another time. She didnt think searching together would actually find Regina faster but at least the two of them would have company

Amy smiled. "Yes. I'm...having a hard time adjusting to a new school more than anything. I know I'm book smart, but not quite like this place. I just need to find something fun to get into, I guess." She swung her feet under the bench, the soles of her feet brushing against the ground. It was funny how easy it was to take things granted. She knew that Jocelin knew it, and so Amy didn't bother to mention in.

Her hand slipped over to squeeze Jocelin's. "Sounds perfect! We could meet here after classes are done and go out on an adventure. And maybe...some food." She was going to be hungry after school, since this salad wasn't going to keep her satiated until dinnertime.

"Yea. I've always been more artsy ... well blacksmith artsy, than sciencey but it is nice here. And there's plenty of people who like video games so i can find something in common with them." That was probably her saving grace. She'd found a bit of respite in being able to tinker with computer animation and programing which was interesting enough.

"Regi likes weird stuff so we can try to find places where she might hang out. Maybe there's an alien lovers club or something." She couldn't help but try to make a joke out of it. Being serious all the time would just make them depressed.

"Hmmm, true." Amy was addicted to facebook games, but she had never tried to venture into the whole console game thing. Probably because facebook games were free and simple, and she just...hadn't really ever tried.

"Yeah! There's got to be one of those around here....especially with what we know now." Amy fell silent...since it wasn't anything she'd advertise much more than she had. Everyone thought that she was crazy. Amy was lucky that her parents just thought she had suffered from some kidnapper or something and just passed her ramblings off as nothing more than a girl readjusting to 'normal' life. They had no idea how close to the truth they were.

" I wonder...does she have a sweet tooth? We could always try some of the cafes around town too." She sighed as she finished her salad, already planning her dinner. Maybe a snack inbetween too.

"At least we're not the only ones." She squeezed Amy's hand where the other girl was still holding hers. There were all the other people who'd been there with them that knew exactly what they knew and had felt everything they felt. "You know you can always talk to me about it, any of it." She didn't want Amy or Regina (where ever she was) to feel like they were alone in the whole thing.

The sweet tooth thing was an interesting distraction. "I ... don't know. We could check those out while we're looking for dinner ourselves? Maybe desert more like but you know."

Amy smiled brightly. "No, that's true. And I've got you and Regina to really depend on." Who would have thought that somehow they'd survive, and come back to cross paths? It was something that Amy would never forget. She was grateful for it.

"Mmmm, yeah! Oh, just thinking about dinner is making me hungry already!" The short haired girl laughed. "This is exciting, I hope the rest of class goes by fast and we can set out on this adventure." And Amy was ready to peel Regina off of the ground once Jocelin was done with her.

"You've always got us. No matter what." She nodded. "I'll always be here for you." and she was sure Regina would say the same thing. After everything they'd been through together there was no way that she could just drop her new friends. They'd become part of her family in a way and she would protect them from what she now knew what was out there.

At the last comment from her friend she nodded. "i'm sure it will. It usually does when you've got something good to look forward to." Plus she enjoyed her classes here so she was rarely bored.

Amy squeezed Jocelin's hand once more before letting go, getting ready to head back to class. It sucked, cause lunch never seemed to last long enough, but that was just how school went. She sighed briefly before turning her attention back to Jocelin.

"Ok, so I'll meet you here right after the last class! I should probably get going because I don't want to be late to class." She made a face, since teachers always had to torture everyone into being punctual. "We'll raid downtown and find Regina, damn it!" Amy laughed.
