Kamen Rider Kamen Rider, not to be lumped in with the Super Sentai series, is a Tokusatsu series revolving around a young man becoming a superhero to battle Kaijin and often take down an organization of some sort. Generally, a Kamen Rider will battle alone, eventually taking support from other characters. The most noteworthy aspect of the Kamen Rider is their hissatsu waza, a finishing move that kills the enemy in a single, fatal blow. Typically, these moves are called Rider Kicks, but there have been other Riders that unleash different attacks. I can't explain why, but I love the over-the-top cheesiness, special effects, monster costumes, and stunt work.
So, here I am, calling out any other Kamen Rider fans here in Powerplay. What series is your favorite so far?
I have more than one. I enjoy Kamen Rider Kabuto, Kamen Rider Kiva, Kamen Rider W, and Kamen Rider OOO.

I think I saw an episode a long time ago. It reminded me of Power Rangers, which was nostalgic, but didn't really hold my interest like it might've when I was younger. This similarity may be a false, but I havent seen enough to assume otherwise...
I was into the Big Bad Beelteborgs moreso myself XD so I can understand the need for this type of thing... *wonders if I can find the old episodes online somewhere*

There are some similarities between the two (Power Rangers and Kamen Rider), primarily the transformations and the kaijin. The early 2000's Kamen Rider series are quite dark and serious though.
Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers, back in the day, was a lot of video editing from its original counterpart, Zyuranger. A lot of the fight and mecha scenes were voiced over in English and chopped in with some low budget American acting, lol. The Thunderzords came from the mechs in Dairanger and the Ninja/Shogun Zords came from Kakuranger. It became easier for Saban to keep the Zyuranger costumes and start replicating them, while using the Japanese footage for mechs. When Zeo started, they just started adapting each completed Sentai series from the prior season. That's when I was 11 years old and stopped watching. XD
Power Rangers is an adaptation from the Super Sentai Series.
There have been North American attempts at Kamen Rider, but they were dreadful. Masked Rider was taken from Kamen Rider Black and Kamen Rider Dragon Knight was taken from Kamen Rider Ryuki (Ryuki is much better).
Personally, I am more of a fan of the Kamen Rider franchise and have little care for the Sentai franchise. Plus, watching real people speak Japanese rather than animations seems to really help me pick up on the language. XD
As for Beetleborgs, I don't know, but would hazard a guess that the action footage came from a 1990s Tokusatsu program as well.
Anyway, if you read this far, thanks for hearing my summarized knowledge of the Tokusatsu genre. lol

wiki The series adapted combat footage from the Metal Hero tokusatsu-series Juukou B-Fighter (first season) and B-Fighter Kabuto (second season). Yup, looks like another tokusatsu rip-off; quite enlightening, though I suppose Im not surprised. These programs didn't seem like typical american shtick.

See, I thought the same thing as a kid (these shows were out of the ordinary), because these shows were the flashiest things ever. Now that I know what Toku is, it makes a great deal of sense. I can't explain it, but there is something about the genre that just draws me right in. XD
