Quote: Seven's Fighting Stats Attack: 1% Defense: 1% Speed: 1% Agility: 1% Intelligence: 1% Seven had been waiting for this day. All her life had been geared toward learning how to do this - how to survive under extreme pressures, in extreme circumstances. Though her training had started officially only under Devin's care, her previous life had more than prepared her for what she was about to see.
Her childhood had consisted of Mokai piled on top of one another, battling their way to food and survival. Adequate care was not something she had known as a youngster, but the gore and violence of illegal fights were things that she had. There was a certain horror to be associated with those fights.
But this one would be different. This one was legitimate, and somehow, Seven understood that Devin wouldn't put her into a situation that she wasn't ready for. They had been training for so long, and with every day, she grew more confident against her sparring partners.
Today was the day she set foot into the pit for real. She glanced across the arena at her opponent, sizing him up. Already, she was considering her first move, his possible responses, her reactions to his. In her head was a mental map of the pit and the myriad ways in which she could move inside it. She took a breath, felt Devin's hand against her collar. The tension was almost palpable and then... then she was loose, and without hesitation, she pounced forward to begin the attack.

Quote: Fighting StatsAttack: 1% Defense: 1% Speed: 1% Agility: 1% Intelligence: 1% Imnir sauntered into the arena, oozing confidence with each step. The chain he wore around his neck made metallic clinking sounds every time he moved, announcing his presence just the way he liked it. His human, Naomi, stood just outside, a worried look on her face as he entered the first "official" fight of his life.
"Be careful, remember your training!" She called to him, receiving only an indignant glare in return. Who was she to patronize him? She cared for him, and he was loyal to her, but if there was one thing he hated was being talked down to. He could handle this. He could handle anything. Maybe after this fight Naomi would finally realize that and lighten up a bit.
He tilted his head slightly at his opponent, taking note of the fact that she was watching him out of the corner of her eye. He puffed out his chest and stood firm, waiting to see what she would do. With more speed than Imnir had anticipated, she was upon him, and though he had braced himself for the impact he couldn't help but let out a low grunt as she slammed into him. He was far too proud to attempt to get out of the way, and perhaps that would cost him, but he had his reasons.
Taking the full force of her hit, he took this chance to attempt to clamp his powerful jaws onto any part of her he could reach. Maybe if he was lucky he would cause enough damage to slow her down a bit.

Whoa. He was... Seven wasn't quite sure what the word was. That first blow took her completely off guard, as his teeth embedded themselves into her leg. She thought she might have heard something crunch, and a jolt shot all the way up to her shoulder. She hadn't counted on having such a worthy opponent. Although having said that, she hadn't really counted on anything.
Now was the time to roll with it and use whatever she had. A growl, half pain and half frustration, slipped from her muzzle as she attempted a flip to rid herself of the attack. Her body twisted as she swung her thick tail toward his face, intending both to whack him with it and to momentarily blind him with the thick swath of fur.

Imnir clamped down hard as soon as he felt something in his jaws, tossing his head side to side in an attempt to cause as much damage as possible. He heard a growl coming from the nimble female as something flew at his face. Startled, and not wanting to take any chances after getting a good hit, he released his grip and took a quick step to the side, jumping into the air in an attempt to pin this slippery red female to keep her from being so mobile.

One moment, she felt her paw freed, and the next... she was pinned underneath the other Mokai. He was good... He was too good. She attempted another twist, but found herself too restricted under his bulk to move any which way. Her breath came in pants as panic began to fog her mind. What next, what next?
Acting instinctively, she reached upward and clawed at anything and everything with all four paws, desperate to get up and out of this dangerous situation. Something was hurting - actually, everything was hurting, but right now, that didn't seem to matter. Being stuck too long down here was sure to mean losing.

Success! Imnir towered over his opponent, reveling in his own power for a moment before... Wait, focus, this isn't the time for that. He snapped back to attention as he felt something sharp, actually, a lot of little sharp things, piercing his fur and stinging terribly. He let out a low growl and reared up on his hind legs. This might give her a chance to escape, and it was a risk, but if he could slam all of his weight down onto her it could be over.
Here goes nothing.

There he went! Scrambling to her paws, she attempted to launch herself out of harm's way, and it was succes- until she felt his weight on her hind quarters. UGHHHH! Her hind legs buckled under the impact and she found herself on the ground yet again.
Think, think, think.
At this point, they all knew who had won, but the least she could do was try to end this ordeal with dignity. Her hind end was rendered somewhat unusable by Imnir's weight, but with another twist, she launched her forelegs at his face, claws outstretched. Hopefully, instincts would tell him to move out of the way before his brain told him that she was unlikely to be able to bend all the way back to reach him.

'Not so fast anymore, are you?' Imnir smirked at the thought as he managed to catch her before she could entirely get away. It wasn't the fight-ending blow he had hoped for, but it was obvious that she couldn't keep this up too much longer, at least in his eyes. Thanks to this, his already over-inflated ego would probably do nothing but grow over the next few days.
Wait, sharp things near face. He jerked his head to one side as she swiped at him, retaliating with a much harder, slower blow aimed at her torso, meant to sweep her to one side if it made contact.

Eeep! She had to squeak with surprise as his counter-attack whacked her off balance. Double ugh. Clearly, she had overestimated her own abilities and underestimated his. No matter, she wouldn't make that mistake again.
Still, he was right. Not so fast anymore. It was difficult to really get anywhere with one lame leg and an aching torso, and who knew what other damage had been done. It was definitely not the win she had been hoping for. Not even the loss, really. She had made it so easy.
But rather than feel disheartened, she felt resolve strengthening inside her. Her next time out would not be like this. She would make sure of it. And as if to prove her point, she gamely leaped back onto her feet and launched herself into one last attack.

Imnir scoffed as she launched yet another attack straight for him. Rather than bracing himself against it this time, however, he mirrored her, both of them would collide in mid-air if he did it properly.
But then again, he wasn't quite so nimble as she, and even in her weakened state he was still heavier than her and he wasn't quite used to attacking like this. Oh well, everything had worked out so far, so why hold back now? He had clearly won already, so even if he screwed up he could still walk out of there with his head held high.

Her success surprised even herself. Finally, it seemed, her mind and her body were working together. She had seen him rise to copy her motions, and had twisted at the last minute, hoping to land a blow to his side, rather than have to absorb the shock of his head-on collision. Twisting, it seemed, was her friend.
She landed heavily, snatching her right foreleg off the ground before it was forced to absorb her weight and tucking her hindlegs underneath her to compensate. It was a good thing, this last minute victory. She was ending on a good note, at the very least. So she had lost. Not the anticipated result, but she couldn't say she was surprised. And she couldn't say that she had lost to an unworthy opponent.
Panting, she glanced back at Imnir, his chain collar, his cocky attitude. No doubt they would be in the ring together again someday. Next time, she would be better prepared.

At first Imnir thought he was going to hit her full on the way he had intended, but just a split second too soon and he missed, a snarl forming on his maw as he landed with a thud. It wasn't the perfect victory that he had envisioned, his opponent on the ground at his paws, completely and utterly defeated while he stood proudly, unscathed and ready for any challenge... But he had to keep his cool.
He glanced up as a strange noise seemed to indicate that the fight was over, and the fact that Naomi came rushing in, hugging him around the neck and saying how proud she was, and how glad she was that he wasn't badly hurt. Imnir pulled away from her and shot her a glare, ears pressed against his skull. He loved getting affection, but not in public like this, and not when it was suffocating.
Imnir trotted over to Seven, a smug look on his face. She didn't look so good. "Hey, nice moves you have there. Maybe with some hard work you will be able to catch up to me some day." Confidence dripped from every word as he kept his breath steady, though if one listened closely it would be possible to tell that he was unable to mask his fatigue. "Though I doubt it." He smirked and turned back to Naomi, walking out of the arena at her right side.
It was a good day.
