Momo and Dath were spending some time together, taking a break from their respective duties. The unsettlement in the pride worried the female more than the male, but secretly Dath was more worried than he would let on. His only concern was that of his mate, and though things were smoothing out right now, he still let his overprotective self creep in. "It is such a nice evening, isn't it?" Momo's tail curled around her side as she laid in the grass, her eyes admiring the stars above. Dath just grunted. "Oh, stop worrying so much. You can't hide it from me," Momo sighed at him. "I can try," he replied.

Wambazi was out for a walk in the evening, on her way to go and find Aapep so they could chat. Her sister had been very busy as she became more involved in the pride as a priestess. Wambazi was a little jealous but more than anything else, she missed hanging out with her sister. They were the only ones who had even bothered trying to apply for priest positions, it made her identify far less with her other siblings.. even if ultimately only one of them had been successful in application.
She was walking along, easily in Dath and Momo's line of sight.. but completely oblivious to it and just how close she was to them.

Dath noticed the other lioness first, and Momo's attention drew to where Dath was looking. She was curious, and wondered about things. "Oh, hello miss," the tan lioness said, unsure of her rank and so being polite out of respect. Being middle class was actually...nice. She liked to be in the middle, as it seemed quite fitting for the two of them.
Dath's tail swayed behind him, his own body laying near Momo's His dark coat was easier to miss in the dark than Momo's, but his eyes always gave him away. He watched the stranger female with mild curiosity, always wondering why Momo had to be so outgoing and well...pushy about trying to become friendly with everyone.

Wambazi nearly jumped out of her fur when a very quiet seeming voice spoke to her and alerting to just how close she was to others. She looked over, her eyes on Momo first but quick to look to Dath- where she lingered as her eyes struggled to really make out who was there- and then back again.
What a strange pair. "Hello," she said, "Didn't see you!"

Momo laughed. "My mate is pretty hard to miss." She got a growl in return, but it wasn't malicious. Just an irritated one.
"I'm Momo," the tan lioness said happily, and this is Dath, a guard." Dath nodded to the other, still unsure of her rank, but her markings were giving him a clue as to her family at least.
"It's a pleasure to meet you. I hope I wasn't interrupting your walk. We were just admiring the stars above, grateful for the peace of the night."

She looked back and forth between the two of them as Momo laughed and Dath growled and then they were introduced. A very strange pair, but they seemed pleasant enough!
"Pleased to meet you both," she said, "You're not interrupting, I wasn't really going anywhere in particular."
Then she realized she ought to introduce herself. "Oh! I'm Wambazi," she said.

Dath was a little bored, but he was usually bored with everything but his work and his mate. It was hard to get interested in what females like to talk about...normally it was family and cubs and yuck.
Momo decided to be a bit pushy...if politely. "May I ask what family you come from? You're so beautiful...and I'm still trying to make sure I keep the family lines straight. We haven't lived here for too terribly long, and Dath isn't exactly social."

Shuffling a bit at the compliment and question, Wambazi stammered to start- her family was a very tricky situation. She didn't like to talk about her mother, even if everybody only ever had nice things to say about her.. it took something away from her personal memories of her, somehow.
"My parents were- are- Fafnir and Alcmene," she said, her voice a little quieter, "I'm related to the royal family and to Mwezi'mtoto and Malkia."
That seemed a fair enough answer. She had a very big family, if only because she was from one cross between two rather big families in the pride.

"Oh," Momo said quietly, realizing that she had said something stupid. Impersonal. Rude. She grew quiet herself, which forced Dath to speak.
"We are sorry," he replied. He had a small hunch that she was related to that family, but it was hard to know that she was the daughter of Alcmene, as they had come to the pride after her death. After that....strange situation that he had only gotten bits and pieces of. He just knew that it was important to keep his guard duties up, and he was happy to keep busy.
"Yes, I'm sorry for rudely asking..." Momo smiled sadly. "It doesn't remove my comment of your beauty, though." At times the tan lioness was jealous of those that were painted like the night sky. She was what she was, and she wouldn't change it. Jealousy was hard to avoid completely in your life, though.

"No, don't be sorry," she said, feeling bad her response had made them feel so guilty- it was another reason she didn't like being asked about her family, "You didn't know, and I am from a very well known family- two well known families, really."
Awkward. So very, very awkward.
"How long have you been here?" she asked, hoping the conversation didn't end with apologies for bringing up her mother.

Dath nodded. "Your markings give at least a little of your lineage away - not a bad thing either." He nodded to her smartly, since it seemed like most of them were at least middle rank if not higher.
"We've been here not too long," Momo said, a thoughtful look on her face. "Just a few moons. Enough to get settled before the major shakeup." She glanced at Dath, who didn't look too pleased. "He's still worried, but everything seems almost back to normal now." And having so many (seemingly) more active priests was nice.

Wambazi was very proud of the fact she looked so much like her family- and not just her immediate family. They were a pretty uniquely marked bunch for sure, she was one of the few who looked more like other members of the family. Her and Badiri.
"I see," she blinked, "Yes, it does seem like everything is just about settled down again. The pride needs a nice, long peaceful break, I think."
She smiled.

"Peace sounds wonderful," Momo smiled, giving Dath a look. He was completely oblivious, but she had plans. Oh yes she did. He was probably going to get blind sided by it, but she thought it would be better that way. There was no way that he would outwardly agree or even suggest for cubs. Momo was tired of waiting. Things were peaceful, they were in a stable home, and there were many other caring lions to help her out if she needed it. Her tail curled in joy.
Dath just ignored his mate, and focused on being polite to their guest. "Thank you for speaking with us. It is always a pleasure to gain acquaintance with more lions in the pride."

If it hadn't been Dath who said it, Wambazi might have missed her cue to leave. She wasn't very interesting but she was considerate and polite. There wasn't much more to be said to relative strangers anyway, right?
It was time to go.
"It was nice to meet the both of you," she said, looking back and forth between them, "Have a good night."

"Yes, a pleasure!" Momo said happily. "I would love to chat with you again if the time comes up."
Dath nodded. "Have a good night as well."
Now Momo was ready to bug Dath about her plans all night long.
