First off, sorry I haven't been around... at all... college happened... But anyway, I was thinking about buying Mark of the Assassin, but I have entirely mixed feelings about it and was wondering if anyone's actually played it.
For anyone who doesn't know, Mark of the Assassin is the latest DA II DLC. It stars Felicia Day as a "mysterious" elven assassin and takes place (I think?) in Orlais. I've heard she's based off of her character from her series, but I don't know... She's supposed to be a temporary companion, and I've heard that the DLC takes place outside of the timeline of the actual game like Legacy.
I want it because new DLC is always exciting, but other than that the description by Bioware was really cheesy. It seems to be pretty much all about Felicia Day, but I'm kind of indifferent to her so... I really liked Legacy. If it's anything like that I might get it. But the reviews that I have seen have been entirely unhelpful.
Opinions? Questions?

I have played it. In fact I just beat it last night abd let me say I was pretty impressed. I mean there is only so much they can do to make a DLC an improvment on the original game but you can tell Bioware is really listening to fan feedback. MotA had a great story, good banter, fun and new enemies, cameos, aand of course Tallis. Let me just say I am not a huge Felicia Day fan either. I had never heard of her til I heard of Dragon Age Redemption. So when I say did I great job with Tallis's character it is because she did not cause I am a huge fan of the "Geek Goddess." Tallis is arguably my favorite character in Dragon Age so far. Her and my Hawke really seemed to have chemistry from the start and the way your companions react to her just feels so natural. The most dissappointing thing for me in this DLC was seeing her leave. The sneaking system worked well and with some improvements it could be amazing in future installments of the series. Overall it was definitly worth the money and I cant wait til the next one or to see my Tallis again. biggrin

Oh yea and you learn some interesting and disturbing new detail abiut the qunari. Also the comedy and comebacks in this game were top notch it was actually really fun. None of the characters tried to hard and none of the comedy seemed forced. If you liked Legacy (and i certainly did) you will like MotA. Its not as dark but it has a lighter atmosphere wrapped around some deeper ideals.

Can you take your other companions? Do they get new dialog? New dialog was one of my favorite things about Legacy. You should watch some of her stuff. I don't know what it is, but most of the gamer guys I know are about ready to propose to her. XP But it's good to know that there are other merits about the DLC. What were your favorite characters before Tallis then?

You can take other characters. I recommend Isabela and Aveline they are the two big companions for thos DLC each getting their own personal side quest. You will also learn a bit bout Avelines past. My favoriter character before Tallis would probably be... Leliana. I guess I have a thing for rogues seeing as I really liked her in Origins and Isabela in DA2. With Tallis she had two of my favorite qualities rogue and an elf biggrin Though honestly I can find something to love about all the other characters as well. None of them are really bad. One of the best things about Tallis was that her and my Champions attitude'a really mixed.A lot of her belief's were similar to how I played my Hawke. They seemed to play off of each other and their connection seemed natural. It didnt feel awkward or forced. BTW they have special dialogue if you bring your romance with you. Its pretty intertaining at times to. Needless to say they are not to fond of You flirting with her or vice versa lol XD Though I hear depending on wherre you are in the story if you take a romanced Isabela she will act differently. I heard she has some really good lines for this particular aspect.

I got yelled at by my companions with the last rogue elf. Fenris didn't get along too well with Zevran in Act III... XD

Hey we each have our opinions, right? lol You actually see Leliana at the aprty along with another familiar face from Origins (i'm not saying who) XD. Like I said my companions definitly had some problems if Tallis got her flirt on but I didnt see anything to bad happen. Keep in mind I have never romanced Fenris or Anders, well because im a dude and that would be wierd but I have heard Fenris can be pretty protective. For the most part tho Tallis seemed to fit in with your group of misfits and my companions didnt mind her most of the time.

I just played it. I really liked it! I'm not a huge fan of Tallis, but I do wish she was a permanent companion. Spoilers after here: I really liked the party, it was cool to see all of those characters again. Except Lady Isolde. ):< But how did Tallis know Leliana? Did they ever actually explain that? I hated the stealth part. I was really terrible at it. I really liked the part where your companions come to rescue you because it reminded me of the part from Origins when your companions rescue you from Fort Drakon, but it was disappointing in comparison. I do like that Hawke talks back to your companions during some of the dialog in the background. /spoilers
As a whole, it was done really well. The new costumes and settings were a refreshing change from the brown, decaying Darktown and Lowtown. Tallis' unique combat style is really cool. The combat is challenging and fun, and there are new puzzles unlike anything from the last games. I really thought they were going to phone it in for this one, but Mark of the Assassin was more polished than the actual game. It's probably my favorite DA II DLC.
That said, (more spoilers) there are some things that don't make sense to me. First of all, I don't really understand Tallis' motivation for turning to the Qun. It seems that the elves turn to the Qun because they're lost in a world that treats them as subhuman, no matter where they go. The Qun offers them opportunity and identity when they're at their most desperate. But Tallis seems strong, resourceful, and smart, so I don't see her motivation. But also, I thought women aren't supposed to be warriors according to the Qun. Sten bitched at me for that all the time. Why does she get to get away with it?

Just really desperate and awful.
