Katyria had been lurking the borders of the Pride Lands for some time now. He'd heard of her former pride's former home land, and in her boredom and search for something better for herself had gone rogue and sought said land. Now, however, she was unsure and trying to make up her mind.

She was a sleek, calculating former huntress - did the pride have a place for a sharp, impatient, and heavy-pawed lioness like her? Would she even be able to put up with their company? All such thoughts passed through her mind as she paced great distances.

Up high on a hill she stopped, taking one last look through narrowed blue eyes and sighed. Decisions decisions. Today was the day, she promised herself, that she would make up her mind. In or out?

He was getting there - with considerable practice he was making progress. His belly drumming wasn't just plain bangs anymore, there was a hint of a unique beat in there. With a little more effort he would have something he was proud of, and with that done, he'd be able to go back to the core of the pride and show those midget cubs how it was done. If he had his way, he'd be positively awe inspiring for the kids and show them that he could meet any challenge they threw at him... no matter how random.

Admittedly, he would probably have never had the opportunity to practice these sorts of things if it hadn't been for the fact that he was situated on the quietest border in the Pridelands. While there had been an increase in traffic as of late, none of it had been dangerous or risked causing trouble at a later date. All in all, any traffic that came through this side of the border seemed to have one desire and that was to call this place their home...

It had all been a bit of a blur for the scout who had been a touch unaccustomed to visitors until recently, but he was quickly growing used to the influx of lions. In fact, this afternoon was likely to be of no exception given that there was an unfamiliar scent upon the wind and it was at considerably close quarters. Thus it should have come at no surprise that Iraeneus had risen to his feet and was turning his head left and right in an attempt to discern which way it was coming from.

...It wasn't long before he set his sights on the figure of Katyria in the distance - hm, now was she just going to stare (in which case this was a touch disconcerting), or was she actually going to come and say hello? Eh, he hoped it was a greeting, he didn't much fancy chasing her away from his perch at this time of day!

And so here was the welcome party. Katyria bellowed a greeting roar before taking the first steps down that hill towards the ginger-maned scout.

"I am Katyria," She greeted once she stood before him, posture tall. She held herself with much rigid poise. "I am told these lands were once home to late great members of my family. The Awatupa'Viwanja is dead. And now I wish to return home."

She let her words make her decision, finding her heart would make the decision to move on or stay that her mind couldn't. She still worried, though she would never show it, dis she have a place here?

She certainly wasn't shy about this sort of thing, that much was clear. Iraeneus could only be grateful that she had favoured a more positive encounter as opposed to the more hostile. Suffice to say that her decision to provide a greeting ensured that he could remain on his lazy perch. Ever one to regard things in a more positive and optimistic light, he fixed a smile onto his lips as she bridged the distance and flicked his ears forward to take heed of her words... She was perhaps the only lion he knew of that had chosen to introduce themselves before starting a conversation.

"Iraeneus," he responded with a small nod of his head, clearing his throat to remove whatever frogs hid within it. "And..." he trailed off as he regarded her for a few moments, his lips pursing as she made reference to the family. Did she mean home in the sense that she wished to usurp the Pridelands, or home in the sense that she wanted to rejoin it as a recognised part of the family...?

He shook his head.

"It really isn't my say as to whether or not you can return," he said after a few moments of consideration and released a sigh. "I mean... I can let you pass through so long as you have no intention of causing harm to anyone, but ultimately it's up to the elders as to whether or not you can take up permanent residence."

"This isn't to dissuade you of course, I just figured I would make that clear...few folks have assumed I have more say than I really do, you know?"

Katyria gave a bit of a chuckle.

"Rough around the edges though I may be, I do not intend harm upon those I would hope to call family." She'd always thought of a pride as one big family.

Granted the Outlanders had been so small it was like an extended family anyway. And she didn't know just how many made the Pride Lands her home. Boy would she be in for a shock....

She seemed genuine in her response, especially when it lacked the 'delay' that would have otherwise indicated that she was up to something. History cast to the wayside, she may have had that weighing on her shoulders slightly but he saw no reason to punish her for that. After all, he'd heard on more than one occasion that it wasn't a cubs fault they were born into something, they hadn't asked for it and therefore shouldn't be held accountable for it. There was logic in this statement and he often chose to live by it.

"Well, that's certainly a relief to hear," Iraeneus replied, his stance softening and a smile lifting his lips as he regarded the lioness for a few moments. "If you can make that a solemn promise then I see no reason why I can't let you pass," he added with a chuckle and shook his head. However, rather than force the issue, he simply sucked in a breath and motioned to the land behind him...her intended destination.

"You know where you're going, yes?"

"Not exactly, no. Nor do I know to whom exactly the elders are that I'm to present myself to.." And yet she was walking on.

Katyria expected some sort of directions - a landmark of some sort to look for, a description of someone... but didn't ask.

Sometimes Iraeneus just didn't understand females. Here was one who didn't seem to know where she was going or who she was meant to speak with, and yet she had elected to walk on without asking for clarification. It was something that the lion struggled with to a certain extent as logic would generally state that you asked for clarification. Alas, it would have been rude to point this out and instead, Iraeneus took a liberty which was something that he typically avoided.

Liberties were bad, they usually caused problems.

"The elders are actually nearby the Prideland's rock formation," he called after her and shook his head. "If you ask one of the hunters or huntresses in the immediate area they should be able to clarify who is nearby and available to speak with," he added, raising his voice somewhat as she gained distance.

"It should be easy from there on in!" he finished.

Katyria stopped a moment a just grinned to herself in a sly way that denoted self satisfaction. She'd learned mind-games in the Outlands. Granted, she'd never been all that good at deploying them, but this one had been simple. And perhaps a test of the Pride Lander's kindness.

She finally looked over her shoulder and called out, "Thank you, good sir. The pride is very trusting then..."

Because Katyria knew of others that, if they knew how simple it was to gain access into the Pride Lands, they could easily manipulate the guard. Or scout. Whatever he was. They were just lucky she wasn't like that. She'd had her fill of cut throat deception. Now she had to learn to live a more..ideal life.
