It was an entrancing, eerie, somewhat nightmarish procedure as all the gathered pieces of the "Great One" were brought together, humanoid youma of all shapes and sizes marching them to an enormous scorched clearing outside the town. Heading the proceedings were the six Negaverse agents who had been entrusted with the fragmented memories -- Wolframite, Labyrinthite, Mica, Benitoite, Sugilite and Howlite -- their eyes burning with a primal knowledge, a consuming purpose that was only half their own. The ambient power grew stronger as they drew closer to their destination; the hunger for destruction in the long-dormant creature more palpable.
The road to the Surrounding had been paved, slowly but surely. The brilliant schemes of of officers like Painite meant they had energy to spare. The attacks piloted by Fluorite and Ilemnite, and the improptu spying being done in the process, had not only done some damage but also given them a glimpse of what was happening out there. Even the alliance with the Dark Mirror had proved fruitful: their quiet breaching of the Surrounding's mirrors had given them an invaluable floorplan, allowing them to develop ideas for how and where to strike.
The map had been drawn. The fuel had been gathered. Now all that was left was the vehicle.
Once again, the officers of the Negaverse had been summoned from where they had been standing, sitting, or lounging back in Destiny City, shoved into full uniform and pulled down to headquarters at the speed it would have taken to blink. In this case many were expecting it this time around. They knew there was an attack coming soon. No surprises from the senshi this time... now, it was them on the offensive. As their numbers gathered and marched across the Rift, they grew more ready. More confident. They had been preparing for this moment -- and if they could fare as well as they had in the past after being taken by surprise, then there was going to be hell to pay for the senshi with a maneuver so diligently put together.
The Dark Mirror senshi eventually joined them from the chained off portal that had been used to introduce them before. Tension and wariness was still present, electric and hostile, among some members of the collective, but still they marched forward... through the dead forest, past the town and to the clearing beyond. There the pieces were being put in place, to complete an enormous but fragmented skeleton of some draconic persuasion half-buried in the dust.
((The forces of Chaos are preparing to make a big strike against the Surrounding! This thread will be open until about 4pm EST / 1pm PST tomorrow. You do not have to post here to participate in the attack if you do not have time -- feel free to assume that your character was here.))

The drum of war was beating, its instrument the darkened hearts of those that gathered, far inside the Rift. Every footstep filled them with increased certainty, power, as more and more officers fell in line and joined together.
The white senshi and their knights were disjointed. They had no true sense of belonging, of unity. They were so many, and so wide-spread that they did not have the time, or ability to coordinate as one being. They did not have the discipline.
Those she liked, those she did not, and those she had barely noticed before marched with her, for those lesser, personal feelings no longer mattered. Not this day.
Howlite drew close, and found it difficult to turn her eyes to anything but the gathered relics, the skeleton being reformed by their allies. She had attended every trial of the youma, and had watched her comrades come back from their success, changed. She had been changed.
Now, something grew within her, an urging or a need. She and the others would have the honor of giving back the Great Youma's memories, and she found herself eager.
That consuming desire was shown only in the ferver of her dark eyes and the set of her jaw, as she had yet to speak or smile. The procession through the Rift had been solemn, indeed. A gathering of arms.
The tension of the past weeks had built, and finally, it came to this.
It had begun.

When the thug of summoning came, Ashley smirked, and surrendered herself willingly to it. She had known this was coming. She had known that it would be soon.
The time was now, and... It definitively beat math homework. Pretty much everything beat math homework, to be honest, but the prospect of the fight of a lifetime had the small general stand as tall as she could manage, had her muscles twitch with anticipation.
She wasn't scared, no, no anymore.
Amazing what a good doze of Chaos right in the starseed could do to you.
She had taken to the front without truly noticing, in a way she had never dared to before. She was a general. It was her place, even if she was still new and fresh faced, scars hidden below her elaborate uniform Even if she wasn't entirely comfortable with it, she had to not let it show, just in case someone might look at her for guidance.
Alunite had gone though the usual motions. Being summoned, settling around some stronger agents in hopes not to end up used as a scratching post by a youma. On the surface, things weren't too different - the rift made him nervous, always did.
But he wasn't staring at the ground like if it was the most interesting thing in the world, not anymore. He did feel a bit better about himself, really, more confident, less frantic overall. He did not feel like his loyalty could truly be put in question anymore, not when he'd risen from senshi to eternal under Metallia's guidance, been shaped from something weak to a well-honed weapon. He'd tasted the blood of his own kind... and lusted for more.
Alunite was secure in his total and utter loyalty - if others were not, well... It wasn't his problem. He knew his place, he knew his role, and he knew how to play it well.

She had been waiting. Working very diligiently with her charges; working and waiting for the moment when everything would come together. When they would take on those b*****d senshi in the Surrounding, destroy them. Captain Moonstone was more than ready when she felt the pull - she eagerly gave in to the summons, yearning towards it and feeling exhilartion and a fluttering in her belly.
Moonstone settled in, looking around at all the familiar faces of her compatriots...at the faces of those she was growing more used to - the Dark Mirror senshi. Her eyes were bright and her color high; she was ready - oh so ready! - for this. She caught sight of the newly promoted Fluorite, Fayalite's close friend, and the corrupted Alunite that carried more than a shadow of Fluorite's face and form. But the Captain was too wound up to call out and instead took the time to center her thoughts, center herself and prepare to go into battle with a clear mind and steady hands.
Once all had gathered, her time would belong 100% to battle, but this tiniest of moments was still partially hers.

The General wasn't too sure what she thought of this whole space thing, but she was ready and willing to serve her cause, and her fellows. And to do that, she would do whatever was needed. She watched her Lieutenants and Captains do their own parts, and had done what she could to aid them as well.
She watched patiently, arms folded over her chest, an unreadable expression on her face. Though she and those that aided her had gathered quite a lot of energy and starseeds, there was one she had not turned in, and kept with her. The one that belonged to a Squire she had killed. She hated senshi, and was eager to get to space and kill them on their home turf for a change, but in the back of her mind she was really hoping there were some knights there.
Maybe she could add to her collection of one.
Painite watched, and waited.

Sugilite liked standing at the front. Near the remains. Of course, just generally being in front, and having a reason to to so pleased her, but this was a double jackpot. She made a mental note to come up with a phrase more refined than that to express her feelings in the future. Gambling was most definitely not ladylike, she was certain of it, in the imaginary rules she held in her mind. She wondered if anyone would come to her dorm room over the weekend, look for her there and see her gone. She wondered if the Great Youma would wake up, take one look at the pathetic ragtag army in front of it and squash it to pieces. She wondered if they'd step out into space and their heads would pop. The last thought was obviously not going to happen, but she couldn't help but replaying the image in her mind with a kind of morbid fascination.
Most of all, she wondered how long they would stand here. A feeling was taking hold of her, an urgent need to stop standing around, waiting for stragglers, and to quickly quickly burn everything. Her mind paused at that statement, back-peddling and trying to deny that something else was in her head apart from herself. Of course, when she said that she meant 'trounce those self important, stuck up senshi and their ridiculous knights'. It had been a slip of the metaphorical tongue. Sugilite dug her fingers into her palms, her nails pressing into the skin so hard that it blossomed into little white rings around the keratin, trying to crowd her mind with thoughts, trying to drown out the feeling that she was three stories tall, covered in spines and wanting to kill everything that moved.

The newly made Captain had felt the pull and let it take him form his bedroom. He'd only been working on a short two page paper for English class, it could wait, the Captain was needed and for what he needed to know. Those who had claimed items had been there and the items they'd each collected as their own prize, he still couldn't believe how much liquid he'd consumed that night. The thoughts of that night however were short lived, burned out of his mind and replaced with the memories he'd gained upon touching the massive claw. Those memories had occupied his mind more than just than and now.
Gray blue eyes stared ahead as he carried the large piece of the great youma, a swelling in his chest and a thrum of his heart beating against his rib cage harshly. The newly promoted Captain could only feel this need to find these senshi and fight them, a feeling not wholly his own but there was certainly a need within himself. The others, aside from those with remains of the great youma, weren't noticed by the blond as he was heading up this odd and morbid precession along with the other remain holders. The youma however were noticed, some he would remember later due to their looks and others would just barely be remembered. It wasn't that he didn't care about the youma, but that his mind was a million miles away, it was like he moved and put the claw where it belonged all on autopilot.
When he had placed the claw he stepped back to join those assembled and wait, to see what would happen next. What would this youma look like, the remains only gave the vaguest of ideas, and what would it do the moment it awoke? The worries over the upcoming battle, over missing school, his parents worrying over him vanishing, it all vanished as he stood waiting, watching intently. It was all burned away and replaced with a single minded path, space and fighting. He would worry when he got home, then he'd be free from his present thoughts and be allowed to worry. Ever since the people had gone missing he had been putting certain things on the back burner, focusing on the fight and what was needed and had to be done. He would be thinking a lot when this was done with.

Jarosite watched warily, wondering just what was going to have to happen to reanimate the bones. He dug his fingernails into his palms, fists clenched tight inside his jacket pockets. He was a part of the Negaverse and couldn't just walk away from this. He had to stay and watch, no matter what happened.
Even as his legs shook in straight fear. He never had the chance to hold one of the pieces, and he really didn't want to. He didn't much care for youma, but the foreboding that rolled off the bones like rain chilled him to the bone. Jarosite may have gotten better at fighting, and better at surviving, and all around stronger, since his rebirth, but he really didn't want to be here when the youma awoke.
He was more concerned that the Greater Youma dragon (because that's what the bones made him imagine it to be) was going to turn on them and he was going to get impaled by something. Regardless of how strong the General Kings may be. Perhaps that was because he was still knew to the whole thing and relatively wary of the other Generals besides Painite.
He might have looked like he was ready, but Jarosite definitely was not. God I hope I don't die... oh god I hope I don't die...
He turned the music in his headphones up a smidge.

It wasn't long before the last piece was put into place -- and the ground began to hum, rumble and crack before their eyes. Many had been standing too close and were now forced to step back as the assembled skeleton, against all logic, began to move. Chaotic energy was tangible in the air, almost visible, as it was funneled into its form, creating ripples like heat coming off of asphalt. The bones rattled, the dust and stone shook and crumbled.
One enormous foreleg ripped itself up from the ground. Tar-black muscle and sinew appeared out of nowhere, wrapping form and structure and power around the skeleton. The other legs soon joined it, its tail lashed violently against the ground... and its head rose skyward, letting out a terrible roar, the first it had given in hundreds of years.
The crowd of youma cheered maniacally. The Great One had returned.
It wasn't going to stay in place for long -- at the command of the General-King and General-Queens taking up the flank, everyone was prompted to board. Those who were lucky enough to board first might get a nice scenic spot perches at its horns... stragglers, unfortunately, would have to bench themselves in the cavity of its still-exposed ribcage.

The siblings, mis-matched as they were. had apparently decided on one thing.
They were taking the scenic spots, thank you. They were among the first to board, with no even a second of hesitation, at the order of their superior.
Alunite just hoped he wasn't gonna get eaten, really.

Sugilite was darned if she was going to sit anywhere but at the horns. She had touched them first, she had felt their energy and lived their dream for an instant, and she would ride on them. Maybe she'd be the only lieutenant up in front, maybe she'd get a few odd looks, maybe it was improper for her rank, but she'd only smile in response, smile and firmly stand her ground. No one would take the spot away from her, apart from General-Queen Tanzanite herself.

The idea of sitting in the ribcage was...disgusting to him. It wasn't like entrails were hanging out or anything - but still. It was still inside of the youma and that disturbed him to a large extent. So regardless of properness he headed up for the horns, joining Suilite and giving her a nod of greeting. "I do believe I'll be staying up here." He stated, giving her a glance. "I do hope you don't mind my company."

Moonstone pressed forward eagerly, mounting the Great Beast and immediately enjoying the vantage point; she had a great view - so many wouldn't, but this time there was no way in hell she would miss out! The energy thrumming around them, the heave of the half-formed Great Youma beneath her, the cluster of Negaverse and Dark Mirror powers: it was heady stuff.

Wolframite was proud to be taking up the front, and actually felt he had accomplished something. While some officers went to space, a adventure he had been avoiding due to his own worries, he had helped back here on Earth, or at least the Rift. The youma was assembled and he felt a surge of pride at contributing and also for everyone else that they had made it. There had been worry, yes, that they wouldn't be able to deliver, but he had had faith. Not only that, but he had grown to have a greater appreciation if not a strange bond with the youma that made up the Rift. He was happy to see them around, joining the march to cheer along. The Negaverse had proven to them that they were worth enough to bring together this great youma, and he felt they had gained a great deal of their respect. Certainly worth the hangover he had had a while ago.
When all were called to join, Wolframite took a place up front, jumping up to the top. He didn't want to be anywhere near the back, but after seeing that vision when he first touched the youma piece, he wanted to be up front to see and feel it fly and move just as he had done in that brief memory. For that reason, he perched himself up on the head, clinging to one of the horns.
