There was a door on the first floor of the Leo Outpost that was hidden beneath a mound of debris, only discovered by busy civilians working hard to revive the once-glamorous Outpost. The door was nothing special; it was inside that mattered.
Time had taken its toll on the room within. The lion statues that sat on either side of the door on the inside had certainly seen better days. A dent in the muzzle of one gave it a scowl; the other was missing its head completely. The room they were looking at was just as ornate as the rest of the Outpost, save for the room's odd shape, spanning not even five feet wide with a length that spanned four times that.
The curious would soon discover that the room was not all that small. There was a passageway off to one side, leading into another passageway that yielded branching pathways, the walls covered with art too faded to make out properly. This was a maze; that was soon apparent as dusty mirrors replaced the faded and blotted artworks, some still standing firm in their reflective glory while others lay shattered on the ground.
A large majority of the mirrors have been cleaned and polished to a shine prior to learning of the DMC invasion. And come on -- terrorists being able to walk through mirrors? Pics or it didn't happen. Besides, nobody has found this room until now and if the ridiculous rumors are true, then it's completely safe! What's the worst that could happen? Anyway, nobody has yet to conquer the maze; civilian, knight, or senshi. Do you feel up to the challenge?

The OOC:Welcome to the Mirror Maze in the Leo Outpost. With the potential threat of the DMC lurking in the shadows, a maze made out of mirrors is quite possibly the last place anyone wants to be right now. But what's a little fun without the risk? Surely nobody would mind or notice if you took a couple minutes off to see if you could go through it... The maze has three sections, rising in difficulty. Each section requires you to roll a different dice: Section One: 1d4 Section Two: 1d10 Section Three: 1d100 Please follow the prompts when making your way through the maze. The prompts determine how successful you are at getting through the maze, as well as whether or not you had any problems. The walls in the mirror maze are too tall for any civilian to peep over, but a powered character can jump up and look around/cheat if they so wish to. Just don't fall off! All bandaids were left at the Virgo outpost, and Leo might be quite distressed to learn that it was you who left a bloody mess on his floor. If you go this route, you may not skip sections. If you wish to venture into the maze as a group, then only one person needs to roll a dice to determine what happens. Without further ado, the prompts: Section One: Roll 1d4 1: You are quite lost, and you're not even in the section with the mirrors yet! ...Or at least you are for ten minutes. You can choose whether to leave the maze through the entrance, or continue onto Section Two. 2: You make it through Section One on your first try, picking all the right twists and turns. Are you sure you haven't been here before? Proceed to Section Two; roll 1d10 and follow those prompts. 3: You make a few false turns here and there, but eventually you make it to Section Two; roll 1d10 and follow those prompts. 4: You manage to discover several dead ends and a couple paintings that aren't completely faded away before you realize that the easiest way to get out of here is to pick directions that look unfamiliar to you. You reach Section Two; roll 1d10 and follow those prompts. Section Two: Roll 1d10 1-3: You discover a shattered mirror and take the time to be a considerate person and carefully move the shards out of the way into a pile. Perhaps someone should come by later with a broom and clean it up. Either way, you make it to Section Three; roll 1d100 and follow those prompts. 4-6: You make it through the mirror maze. Please proceed to Section Three; roll 1d100 and follow those prompts. 7-9: Dead end, dead end, dead end... You think you've seen this mirror before, even though they all look the same. Let's face it: you're lost. Roll again. 10: How did you even --?! Somehow you made it back to Section One. Great! Please reroll a 1d4 and follow the prompts there. Section Three: Roll 1d100 1-10: Eventually you find a plain door in front of you. You go through it, and discover that you're back in the main hall of the Leo Outpost. Behind you, the door clicks shut. You just came through a hidden door: there's no indication that there is a passageway to begin with! There is no way back into the maze, but hey! At least you're out of it. 11-30: The further you walk, the more disoriented you become by your reflection. Where are you again? Which one is you? Feel free to stop and think for a moment, and please reroll once the surge of dizziness passes. 31-40: As you walk through the maze, your foot catches on a pile of debris. You trip, and will now have a lovely bruise that will remind you of your time spent in the lovely mirror maze. Roll again. 41-60: Each place looks just like the last; where are you again? Still in the maze it seems. Please roll again. 61-70: When in doubt, follow someone else. You tail another person and discover that they're just as lost as you are. Whoops! If there is no other person in this section, then your character follows a random reflection. Roll again. 71-90: You manage to find a relatively clear area inside the maze. It's "clear" by the fact that there are no mirrors here, and "relative" due to the mound of debris you've stumbled across. It's unknown whether this is the heart of the maze or a section that fell down. Either way, this is not the exit; roll again. 91-100: You see a door ahead of you. You push it open, and find yourself back in the main open space of the Leo Outpost. Behind you, the hidden door clicks shut. Try as you might, you can't get back in again! Oh well -- give yourself a pat on the back for making it through, regardless! Quote: It began as a small itch. The inevitable itch that builds in your nose, right before a sneeze. You know it's coming. There's no way to stop it as it gets bigger and bigger, building in pressure until the itch turns into a fact: something chaotic is coming. From within the maze, one of the mirrors changed. Then another. And another. The silvery reflection shimmers like liquid metal as the lower part bulges, the dark shapeless form within becoming sharper, more distinct the larger the bulge gets until a form springs forth from the mirror. The light skitter of canine toes on the tile was perhaps the first time any animal could be found within the mirror maze in the Leo Outpost, either for once in a thousand years or once for the first time. But these paws didn't belong to any sort of cuddly animal. The youma lifted its misshaped head and sniffed the air. It may have looked like a dog once, and could easily be described as dog-like. But no known dog on earth has a head attached upside-down with a long, gaping jaw filled with misaligned teeth. It was difficult to see its eyes on the underside of its head, and yet if one did -- would it be too late? Its body was lanky with a canine shape minus the fur. Most of its shape was made up of bulging muscles, constantly shifting under its thin skin. Its legs boasted dull claws made for running, not for swiping; this is a creature for hunting. A low, moaning howl rumbled from its throat, soon joined by countless others. The hunt has begun. The OOC:Youma are now loose in the maze! EVERYONE must roll 1d20! 1-4: You see the dog-like youma run towards you! You barely have enough time to raise your arms to defend yourself before you feel the jaws bite down. That HURTS! Your character suffers massive damage and also has a dog attached to them. You might want to fight it off and try to run for it... 5-8: You manage to swiftly maneuver and escape the hounds. Or the hounds haven't caught your scent yet; either way, you're in the clear... for now. 9-12: You encounter a youma-hound. It charges towards you, but lucky you manage to dodge in time. You hear the shattering of a mirror behind you as it runs into it. Perhaps now is a good time to get out of here. 13-16: You run. You flat out book it and manage to confuse any youma chasing you. You're safe. 17-20: Somehow in the midst of these youma-creatures, you manage to take minor damage. Either you were lucky to dodge a dog's lunge only to be struck by shattering glass, you were kicked by a dog, or their bite managed to graze you. Whatever happened, you should probably run. FROM NOW ON you may only roll ONCE per hour to try and escape the maze. Every time you roll, please also roll a 20-sided dice to determine whether or not you encountered a youma. In about 12 hours or so (give or take) another GM prompt will go up. In that time, the chances of being injured AND the seriousness of the injury may rise. But hey, if you make it out of this alive you'll have some pretty kickin' sweet scars to show off later, huh? I'M A CIV, HALP:RUN! Though if you're feeling stupid brave, there is a lot of debris around... I'M A GHOST, HALP:Quote: What is their purpose? That is not clear. They are only around some of the time, but if there is a youma battle, they can help fight. The particles emit a pulse of strong light energy. They won't be single-handedly taking down any youma, but they can definitely hurt one. They have no effect on civilians, Negas, or any other human. Ghosts can use their pulse-power to protect ONE civilian. To use your power, pick/quote a civ that has not rolled. The ghost is now protecting them. Should the civ end up with an injury, the ghost's protection negates it. If a civ has already rolled, they are ineligible for protection. Sorry! But it's too late. :< I LEFT THE MAZE can I come back in?OF COURSE! : D You'll need to make it through all four sections of the maze, though... From now on with every maze navigation roll (1d4, 1d10, etc) you will need to roll a 1d20 to determine whether or not a youma is hunting you down. FAQ:Is there a time limit between rolling?Nope! UPDATE 10/15: You can only roll ONCE per hour now! Let's say I want to go through it with another person. Do we all need to roll a dice?In the cases of groups, only one person needs to roll the dice. The rest of the group follows the prompt. :3

There was only so much cooking and cleaning an active, fun-loving girl like Natalia could take, and thankfully she had finally found some time away from that. She'd heard of the mirror maze, and rumors of evil mirror-walking bitches, but well...would it be too foreboding to say that curiosity killed the cat?
"Yeah, but it didn't stop the dog from sniffing its carcass..." She muttered to herself with a smirk, looking at the maze with a challenging smirk. She daringly stepped inside, and began trying to find her way through it. She'd always been fond of the House of Mirrors at the fair. This couldn't be too awefully different, right?
Well, a few wrong turns and back-tracking later, she let out a whoop of triump. She'd made it through the first part. She was glad - it was irritating having to figure out where she had been and where she hadn't. Maybe she should have dropped something or brought some string. Huh. Hindsight is 20-20.

Marienrode de Virolai Sierra-Preto worried about the children. That was why when she noticed the dark, foreboding doorway on the first floor of Leo Outpost gaping wide open, she became concerned. What if someone had gone in and gotten lost?...
Still, going in there alone wasn't smart either. It did seem to be just a long passageway, she noted as she looked inside, book clutched to her chest. Straightening up, she stood in the doorway and peered around the obscenely ornate entrance hall; no sign of the senshi she'd come here with, no sign of the knights or powered characters she'd been seeing all around the Surrounding.
Was that... normal?
But then, a lot of strange things had been going on. Was a dark passageway even so strange?
Marienrode took a deep breath and started down the passage. Just to see if anyone's down there, she told herself.

When Grus heard a couple people whisper about a passage being clear in Leo, she was just as curious as anyone else. When they mentioned mirrors, she got more excited. A room of mirrors!
It turned out not to be just a room, but a freaking maze! She watched someone walk in, and thought for a moment. Her time could be better spent bringing supplies..but what was a little fun every now and then? She walked into the maze, laughing as her reflections did the same. It was difficult to see where the turns in the passageway were sometimes, but she kept one hand on a mirror at all times, feeling where they ended into another passageway.
Every book that had mazes in it said always on one direction, either right or left. She adhered at that, and it seemed to be working. She only ran into a couple dead ends before reaching a different part of the maze. One that had some strange paintings on the wall. Grus stared at them, wondering why they were in a passageway of mirrors. Her reflection wondered the same thing.
A few more turns right, and she ended up in a different part of the maze.

Feeling rather proud of herself, Natalia progressed on to section two, but it seemed that confidence and fire was working against her. And now she was just downright frustrated. Ugh! Dead end again! What was the meaning of this!? MADNESS! As she encountered her tenth dead end, she was tempted to Sparta-kick the thing. Come twelve, she did. TAKE THAT MIRROR! HA!!

Darwin liked mazes on paper; they were a good way to kill time. Since he now had a lot of time on his hands, Darwin decided to try the real-life mirror-maze. Real-life mazes, he quickly discovered, were not like mazes on paper. For one, it took a lot longer to walk around then it did to draw a line with a pencil. For another, Darwin couldn’t see the whole maze’s layout.
“ Nuts! Nuts and acorns.” He muttered, glaring at a painting.
He’d been picking turns that felt “safe” – he’d heard rumors of some sort of monster that came out of mirrors – but as a result he had been going in circles. Sighing, he picked a new direction and trudged on.
IRL mazes? Not so fun.

Sooo..... Sparta-kicking mirrors in anger achieved nothing. Except a hard reset. Time for round two of stage one. ******** was not amused. However, her fire was now lit, and she totally took a 'challenge accepted' attitude towards the maze. Things had just gotten personal.

Mazes?
Pfft.
Mary got through mazes in her sleep during DnD and CYOA games. This didn't look bad at all. She turned around some corners, and paused only once to think, before she was suddenly at the next section of the maze.
Booyah Mary. Boo. Yah.

What was that Mary about getting through mazes in your sleep?
Aparently that only covered "small" mazes. Not multi-section ones. The girl frowned and stomped back through the last few turns and tried again.
Damn you dead ends.

The shattered mirror found Mary, instead of Mary finding it. She ran straight into it, the last shards falling down ontop of her.
Way to pay attention.
She grumbled and shoved the shards off to the sides, attempting to not hurt herself on the shards. The gryphonkind then turned and found her way to the next section, only slightly bleeding from sharp mirror scrapes.

Mary blinked as she stepped back out in the main part of Leo.
"That's IT!? No prize at the end? No boss battle? No pitfalls or spider webs or evil wizards?! What the heck did I just spend the last hour walking through?" she said out loud, rather loudly. The tiny girl looked around, unable to come to grips with the fact that this wasn't a DnD session, and things like that didn't usually happen in mirror mazes.
What a let down though. What. A. Let. Down.
"At least Aquarius' basement was more fun than this..." she said with a grumble.

This part of the maze proved to be more difficult and despite her "foolproof" method of only turning one direction, she seemed to be more lost than before. The faces in the mirrors became concerned, then a little frightened as her own face betrayed her emotions. Where was she?
Her hand still remained pressed to the wall, as if feeling the cool glass beneath her fingers would keep her calm. And it kindof did in a way. There was a strange feeling that she was being watched..
Probably because her own face looked back at her wherever she turned.
