Name: Lenora
Age: 32 turns
Gender: female
Sexual Preference: heterosexual
Rank: Transfer/Junior Weyrwoman
Former Craft: Beastcraft
Appearance: Just a couple of inches under six feet tall, Nora is a vat of calmly brooding energy. She has waist-length sunny blonde hair that she keeps either tied into a careful braid or knotted into a side ponytail. Depending on the company she's keeping, Nora will either be seen with a quiet, thoughtful expression or one of blatant curiosity- though the corner of her lips always tends to be raised slightly as if she's hiding a secret. She has the bad habit of sticking her tongue out slightly when she's concentrating, which makes her look like a young girl instead of a distinguished and responsible Weyrleader. Her eyes are a dull blue-tinted shade of gray that make her look deceptively innocent. No matter how much time she spends out of the sun, her skin stays the healthy tan of a hardworking beastcrafter.
Personality: As a Candidate, Nora was energetic, rebellious, and at first didn't seem to take the possibility of become a Weyrwoman very seriously. She pulled pranks, made a good amount of friends as well as a few rivals, and earned the scorn of a few uptight trainers. However, there was a quiet concentration about her that made it quiet obvious when she was giving something her all. Though, she didn't always have to work hard in order to complete tasks faster than everyone else- the teenage candidate was a bundle of energy that couldn't easily be outdone. Her pride was generally hidden, but when someone questioned her potential she'd respond with a passion that bordered on anger- and the fiery determination that sparked in her eyes would remain for days.
As a Junior Weyrwoman, Nora has become vain, prideful, and proven to have finicky affections. Over the years, her pride has only grown, though she's managed to become better with taking directions from others. She's also begun to wear dresses whenever she can comfortably manage it- a vain attempt to properly "look the role". Wherever she goes, she expects the respect she and Hers deserve, though she never abuses her power unless she feels someone has tried to cross her.
She's not one to ever be self-centered and quite often sees things as needing to be done for the group as a whole instead of just one person- with the exception of her dragon. Hers is always the most important to her, no matter what the situation. When __ was a hatchling, Nora likely spoiled her - always rushing to her side when she had any sort of complaint, and soothing her with quiet songs when she felt experiencing discomfort. Now that Hers has grown, not much has changed. Her arrival is always greeted with a hug and soft murmurs of affection. Before transfer, Nora's previous Weyrmate was likely rather jealous of the affectionate side that was only reserved for her dragon. Not that Nora is a cold Weyrmate; in fact, she is quite kind and attentive enough - though there is a sizable piece of her heart that she's kept locked away for that "special someone" (if he exists). There have been a few times that she's thought she might have found this person, but she eventually grows tired of those who have temporarily captured her attention.
History: Nora's childhood was unremarkable. She was an orphan raised by woman she called 'Aunt Ellie', along with seven children all younger than herself. As she had the hard-working, stern Ellie as a role-model, it never crossed the young-girl's mind to stop moving. Because of her constant motion and ability to complete chores around the house so quickly, she was apprenticed out as soon as the next-eldest girl was old enough to give Ellie a helping hand. As an apprentice Beastcrafter, she spent all her time doing her best to prove herself, and thus ended up mostly with stubborn or flighty runnerbeasts that no one else wanted to go near. She quickly learned that she was capable of things that others weren't. When she saw an overwhelming problem, she tackled it head-on and fearlessly. This caused her to think of herself as much more capable than her counterparts. She wasn't quite narcissistic, but there wasn't much getting past her pride and she grew to have an issue with most authority figures. What right they have to boss her?
Once she was searched, her personality underwent a slight change. Nora took a while to adjust to the idea of being a dragon rider. She had never lacked in self-esteem, but she never dreamed that her future could take her so far from the hall she'd grown up in. The first few weeks were spent wide-eyed and in awe of everything and everyone around her. Though, once she was sufficiently enamored by the idea of having her own dragon, she quickly went back to old, perpetual-motion self. Usually Nora wasn't one to shut up for very long, but when she was bent over her studies she'd fall silent and her gray-blue eyes would widen and glaze over slightly- as if she were in awe of every written word. Because of her prideful nature, most of her trainers didn't take her very seriously- or spent more time lecturing her than actually realizing her potential. Unfortunately, lectures didn't quite go in one ear and out the other - they more than often provoked her into mouthing off. Many months of her first year at the weyr were spent stuck doing the most undesirable candidate duties. After her first standing, she overheard one of her trainers saying it'd be a warm day between before she became a rider - and if she did, she would only be a burden to them all. Nora not only marched straight up to the man and confronted him, but swore in his face that the next gold hatched would be hers and that would show him.
Unfortunately, the next hatching had no gold- but Nora lost not an ounce of her determination, and the trainer was shocked to witness Nora Impress the next gold. Not everyone's opinion of Nora changed after her Impression, but she managed to garner respect from a fair few. Over the years, she proved herself to be level-headed and ambitious, and - with some help from her dragon - she came to respect those that she was expected to take orders from. Weyrmates came and went, but her heart remained a wild beast that no one could quite catch. Her most recent mate, the one she's leaving behind for Ista, has proven a good friend - but otherwise she's quite uninterested in romantic ties.
Talents: Nora remembers almost everything that people say to her. She's also quite good at keeping her head and working through a crisis, making her a natural leader. She likes to keep a large group of friendly acquaintances at all times.
Flaws: Nora's pride makes it hard for her to accept the fact that she can sometimes be wrong. It is incredibly hard to change her mind, especially if she doesn't particularly like the person trying to persuade her. She sometimes struggles to relax and her criticism can come across as very harsh and unforgiving.
