I was just reading through joblo.com and I came across an article about 9/11 that made me really think and reflect on 9/11, something I haven't done in a long time.

http://joblo.com/index.php?id=10157

Which brings an abundance which I'd love to discuss:

Where were you on 9/11?
How old were you?
How did it effect you?
What images did you feel to be most shocking or effecting?
Should 9/11 be remembered or forgotten?
Do some people take 9/11 too seriously?
What do you think about the media and 9/11; all of the movies coming out?

Any more questions, feel free to ask/share opinions.

Just wanted to talk about 9/11. I don't mean to mock it or demean it; just discuss it.

I was in 5th grade. A teacher came in and told my teacher what happened, while whispering. When I got home, I watched the news endlessly, and a few of the images still shock me. The one of the smoke goign throughout the streets of NYC really scared me, and so did the one of the people jumping out of the towers.

sad

Hmm, I can vividly remember that day.

I was in the 8th grade and I was getting ready for school, I walked to school at the time and I lived real close so I was putting on my shoes watching the news for some reason. (Normally I don't watch the news at all.) So anywho, I actually saw one of the planes crash into the buildings on T.V. I called my mom and told her about it, and how the news people were speculating on the attack on the U.S. and such, I told her to be safe and stuff since she works in a decently sized building in downtown. Dallas is kinda big and what not so they said we might be a target...I didn't think much of it at the time...but later it hit me when we were watching the news winding down the day... lots of kids were being pulled out of their classes and stuff...everyone was scared. It was frightening. Teachers were crying too... sad It was interesting to sorta witness something important in U.S. history...

The images of the people running and falling out of buildings was the worst for me.

I think it should be remembered that way it doesn't happen again and we can remember all the people that lost their lives trying to help and such....

I liked one of the 9-11 movies...the one with all the Bush-bashing. D: I dislike Bush. ><;

It didn't, I'm far enough away, and young enough to the point that there was no change in my life. I still went to school, ate good food, and had all I needed. It was the same for me.

I don't think the images really had an affect on me, I'm kind of emotionless when this stuff comes about.

I don't really care one way or the other. I mean, it's a thing that won't ever be forgotten, but people who take it way overboard need to forget about it.

yes

I think the movies are fine. It sounds to me like they're just trying to lighten some people's moods. Maybe not in the most appropriate way, but we do have a freedom of speech.

Cujo : I agree with the part that some people go overboard. If one of your loved ones died in 9/11, you have all the right to be pissed off. But if you're a spoiled rich kid in Toronto, Ontario, and you're still crying about it, then I think something's wrong.

I remeber that day too well.

I was in the 3rd grade(9 years old)and I was coming back from P.E. and my teacher told us about.I really didn't understand it at first because I've never heard of the World Trade Center or the Pentagon. It was wierd everyone was talking about it all day. When I got home I asked my mom what it was about. After her telling me about it I felt confused since that was my first experience with that kind of stuff. That was the first major impact on my life.

I was at school, it was around lunch time when kids started getting pulle dout of class.
I was in 5th grade
the weird part is, it didn't. I know it should have, but i don't know what kind of feeling i'm supposed to give off. Am i supposed to have an overwhelming hatred towards people i didn't know existed until something like this happened to me and affected me specifically? am i supposed to judge these people based on appearances and ethnicity? Am i automatically subjected to feel an immense feeling of patriotism and Dignitas, Civitas, Gravitas? Am i supposed to use my superego, ego, and id to represent the Gravitas? (freudian theory, whee)
It affected people around me, i felt scared for a while, but i live in a relatively small town and there was no one from my family who was their, and i didn't really have very good friends, so it didn't directly make me feel anything.
As far as images go, probably the one where people are running away from a huge wall of ash, or the picture i saw once of people looking out their windows on really high floors and being helpless.
9/11 shouldn't be forgotten because it's important?

I was in sixth grade, 10 years old at the time.

I was just getting ready for school in the morning, eating cereal, and then my mom dashes downstairs and turns on the tv to a news station for all of us to watch, and we just saw the trauma of the twin towers. It was horrific, we discussed it in class as a Bellringer since my teacher heard about it on the radio when driving to school. However, it didn't affect me as I thought it would, as Kimi elaborately explained in her post. I tend to be unsensitive and lacking emotion, I don't know why.

I don't think it should be forgotten though. It'll be in history books, it's one of the events that truly brought America together.

That's how I feel also.I saw that Time magazine with the black border. There was this one picture with people jumping out of buildings that will always come with the thought of 9/11.
