Everything was quiet and peaceful, untouched and flawless. A darkness so incredibly solid it seemed to stretch on forever. This was imagery that wandered through Felicia's mind as she'd laid there on the kitchen floor. There was no noise, no chaotic screams or yelling, and no monster. And yet.. It was too peaceful, too dark and lonely. If this was death she didn't want it, not yet. There was too much left for her to simply die there, and fought against that inky darkness struggle back up to the surface, and when sweet, clean air filled her lungs again she gasped, sucking in breath after painful breath. It ******** hurt, but even that pain was a relief. She was breathing, she was alive. That was what mattered.
It took less then a second for the girl to realize someone was kneeling above her. The relief in their voice as they gathered her up in their arms was palpable, and she blinked up at the familiar face of Grant as she was rushed out of the kitchen and away from the scene of the battle. But not before she'd seen the prone figure of another person at the senshi's feet.
"Grant," her voice was horse from all the coughing. "What happened?" The relief of being alive was beginning to fade as she stared up at him. The room had seemed clear of smoke, but the faces she'd glimpsed before Grant had carried her off looked.. Haunted. The monster was gone, but something was still wrong.
She swallowed, throat dry, but winced. Everything hurt right now. Even breathing didn't feel the nicest, but the novelty of it was enough to keep her breaths deep and even. Air never tasted so good before.
Frowning, she hooked delicate fingers into the young man's shirt, glancing around them as he carried through the halls of Leo's outpost. "Where are going?"

Grant was hurrying along as best he could. His lungs were burning, and he had been so scared and upset that he hadn't been paying attention to anything else. Now, puffing for air, though he was eternally glad that it was clean and free of smoke, he wasn't sure what to do.
He looked down at her as she stirred and spoke, slowing and then stopping so he could ease them to the floor. He kneeled beside her, keeping her near him and supporting her in case she was still feeling weak.
Until she told him otherwise, he was going to be her wheel chair.
He had managed to get them outside, though not to the Virgo Outpost just yet, looking at her with a sad, but valiantly trying not to be, expression.
"They saved us, the senshi," he didn't know better than to call them both that, "the smoke... whatever it was, it went away. It... I think... well, hopefully they'll be able to do something. We have to get you to the Virgo Outpost, they told me to. Are you alright? I'm sorry if I'm jostling you. I had to pick you up, you were unconscious. Do you mind if I do it again? I think it will be best if you don't try to walk yet."
He imagined her lungs had to hurt a hell of a lot more than his did.
The death was on his mind, but he was trying not to focus on it. It was such a truly sad thing, and nothing he could do could possibly make it easier or better. He was not good with situations like that. It put him too far out of his depth, and surrounded by the one thing he hoped most in the world to avoid and to make better. Sadness.

She clung to him as he kneeled to lower her to the floor, eyes shutting against the sudden small wave of dizziness. She hadn't noticed it when he was carrying her, but she was still pretty light headed from having not been breathing. She barely knew him, had only just met him, but he was being so nice to her.
"Thank you," she croaked out after the world had stilled again, hazel eyes peeking up to watch him as he explained what'd happened after she'd blacked out. Leo had arrived before she'd fallen, but she caught a glimpse of him as they were leaving, she didn't know who the other one was. Regardless, she was grateful for them having saved everyone.
Wait, had everyone been saved? She flashed back on the prone figure she'd seen in Leo's arms as she'd been carried away. "Is everyone alright?" He'd looked awfully still..
She frowned as he apologized for the bumpy ride up to this point, then shook her head, smiling weakly. "You have absolutely nothing to apologize for." he was painfully polite, it was actually rather endearing, not to mention refreshing. So few people these days could be considered chivalrous. "I think you're probably right about the walking thing, so no, I don't mind." Her lungs did indeed hurt like a b***h. She was ignoring it though, best she could, because every breath of air she pulled in was sweet and clear and clean and she just couldn't get enough of it at the moment.
At least they were headed to Virgo's outpost. She's made a small pit stop there when this had all begun so they could heal her. It was still amazing how they did that. No doctors, no medication, stitches, or splints. Just a wave of the hand and a little magic.

Grant held on to her, not wanting to cause her to be sick by moving her too much. His head was spinning from the smoke and the fear, though he was feeling much better now that he had something very important to focus on. Felicia, of course.
He couldn't help but look sad at her question.
Grant was not good with these heavy kinds of feelings. He never let himself get angry. He did everything in his power to convince himself and those around him to not be too overcome with fear. He barely understood the concept of sadness. They were all uncomfortable and unpleasant, and things he strove to keep out of his life if only because he much preferred the alternative. Happiness. Peace. Joy. He would much rather have those, if he could, even in small doses when they were most needed.
It was very much needed right now, but for one of the first times he didn't know how to get them there.
"I... I don't know if everyone... I'm sure they're doing everything they can. This place is magic! I'm sure that if anyone can help it will be the senshi at the Virgo Outpost, right?" He smiled at her, then moved to pick her up again when his arms were feeling strong. He held her as carefully as he could, without sacrificing stability. He carried her quietly for a moment, then smiled again, brighter.
"I'm very glad you're okay. I hope that everyone else is, too, but it's comforting to know that you will be. You don't feel sick, do you? I hope I'm not shaking you around too much. We're almost there."
Probably. He had a tough time navigating in this place.

Thus far in their very short relationship Felicia had never yet seen the young mad frown, that he was now was not comforting. She mimicked his expression, confusion and worry tinting her features. He didn't come off half as sure as he was trying to be when he answered her question, and her pale brows could only pinch further as she tried to read beyond his assurances that everyone would probably be fine. She wanted to believe him, God knows she did, but she just.. didn't.
Her clinging grip tightened once again as he lifted her back into his arms, and she offered him a watery smile at his relief that she at least was okay. He didn't know her well enough to be that worried, but somehow he was. It felt nice. "Thanks, I hope everyone else is too." She tried to make her tone hopeful, but probably didn't succeed.
"You're fine," she reassured him with a small chuckle, patting his chest. "It's actually a very smooth ride." A lame attempt at humor, but it was better then nothing.
"Are you going to stick around for a bit after we get there?" He didn't have to, she was sure he had other things to do, but it would be nice if he lingered a bit. She didn't know very many people out here, and a familiar face was very comforting. It was only when she was a lone that her mind wandered towards unhelpful and depressing places.

Grant's smile returned as he carried her. he didn't like being responsible for making someone feel worse then they already did. It was his job to make people feel better, after all: he did not like seeing sadness, and much less liked it when he was responsible for perpetuating it.
He nodded his head in agreement. He wished with all his heart that the others would all be as alright as he and Felicia were. If they were the lucky ones he was not sure how he would take it. Be thankful, surely, and do his best to not scorn a gift, but ultimately he wanted everyone to be okay.
He wanted everyone to get home.
"I will if you want me to," he said honestly. He would do anything for someone if they wanted him to, of course, but this was different. He was more compelled on a basic level to stay with her until she felt safe again. If that were possible. They got closer to the Virgo Outpost, and more familiar things began to pop up and tell Grant that. It was a relief.
"Almost there," he said, his chest hurting.

There was a lingering doubt in her mind that everyone within that kitchen would be fine, but she did her best to push the thought to the back burners. Even if someone was seriously hurt, or worst, what was she going to do about it? There was nothing she could do, not really, and it'd only make scared and worried. Did she really want that additional emotional baggage right that minute? No, no she did not. Selfish, but true. She'd come very close to dying herself, and she would rather be thankful for that.
When he agreed to stay she smiled again, leaning a little more comfortably against him in hi arms. Head coming to rest against his chest as sh watched the passing landscape. "I would appreciate it," she answered honestly, a touch of embarrassment seeping into her tone.
She'd never been to Virgo so when he said they were drawing close she had to take him at his word. The scenery was changing though, and Felicia had to admit, perhaps a little begrudgingly, that it was really pretty up here. Completely ethereal and beautiful, like something out of a movie of video game. She really missed video games... And her laptop. And oh God, her phone!
Lips pursing thoughtfully, the girl looked up at him again, a small, worried frown replacing the smile she'd been wearing. "You're not hurt, are you? I don't think I really asked." She frowned deep, hazel eyes narrowing as she gave him a closer look. He didn't seem terribly worst for wear, but he was so damn cheerful it was actually hard to tell.

"I'm okay," Grant said, though his lungs were burning. If he were hurt, he would tell her. He was not very good a lying, and most of the time it didn't occur to him to try. Yes, he wanted to keep everyone happy and he knew that hearing someone was hurt was not the way to do it, but he also felt that lying and being found out was even worse then just telling the truth in the first place.
He had inhaled a lot of smoke, but they all had. He was walking fine, and his arms were a little tired. No injuries to speak of, so he didn't speak of them.
"I was lucky, I think. I'm thankful for that, I was able to get you out of there at least," he smiled at her, though he didn't want to take his eyes off his goal ahead for too long. He was liable to hit a rock and fall over, and then where would they be? Spilled on the ground, probably more bruised. That wasn't fun.
They made it to Virgo in proper time, Grant hurrying as best he could. He took her to a cot, knowing that just by being in the magical healing area that she would be okay now. She had to be, no doubt about that. He did as he said, though, sitting on his knees nearby.
He would stay until she asked him to leave.
