NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month), as I have recently discovered in the introductions thread, is a website that facilitates writers gathering and supporting one another over the month of November--as far as I can tell. Who, in this guild, has had past involvement in this? Can you tell me more about it? What were your personal experiences (positive and negative)?
I'm on my lunch break, so I don't have time to read the website until this evening. However, I find myself quite interested in the site and am toying with the idea of making an account. Furthermore, I'd love to spur on some discussion with my fellow guildies.
I can't believe I didn't hear of this sooner! gonk

Hey there, Chuck! First off, I'll just go ahead and say I pretty much followed you into this Guild, so I guess I should thank you. xD
Now, onto NaNoWriMo: do it. I only found out about it...actually, about this same time last year. I signed up a few days before November, and was a good week into writing before I forgot about it and gave up.
Anyway, it's something this year I'm greatly looking forward to. I've had some breakthroughs with my writing ability, so I'm certain I won't be too hampered as I was last time. I'm super excited to see what I can do, and I know that even if I don't reach the 50k mark (which is the most likely scenario) I'll still have a story worth appreciating.

Hahaha! That is awesome! You're welcome? XDD
Now you really have me interested in this, Soren. I am so researching this site when I get home from coffee with a friend tonight! I don't really have any working ideas at the moment, but I bet I could conjure a basic idea and build off of that between now and November.
I look forward to reading your product! Yeah!!! THIS IS GONNA BE FUN!

Hey there Chuck, it was probably my post you saw the NaNoWriMo bit.
Speaking from experiences, I've attempted the challenge five years in a row now, and I've successfully accomplished it...zero times. Yeah being a biological science major kinda put my creativity in a bit of coma. But every years a new chance they say, and thanks to a few RP's my creativity's slowly regaining consciousness.
Why don't he keep a thread here for those of us undergoing the challenge? We can use it to get ideas, keep each other motivated, and update each other on our progress. Who knows, maybe we'll all reach the goal come December.

Who knows, maybe we'll all reach the goal come December. I think that's a great idea! We could all really support one another and bond over this whole event as well. Honestly, we could even just use this thread as what you suggested is, essentially, a NaNoWriMo discussion.

Alright then, I guess this thread is also the NaNoWriMo support thread as well. I hope the three of us reach the finish line this year!

And in many areas groups of writers form groups and meet up in Panera or whatever coffee house for discussion, brainstorming, just to encourage each other to keep the writing up. I'm so excited!

Glad to see that you're trying out NaNoWriMo! The site there is awesome and everyone there is a writer. It leads to all sorts of fun discussions and ideas. This is my fourth year of NaNo and and I've won all three previous tries. It can get tough, but it's a real thrill to reach that goal.
Although being an experienced writer, my goals are higher than the 50K. But I'll help you guys out and cheer you on too.

It'll be interesting to see how much I can accomplish in a month. On a lazy day at home, I can get 6000-8000 words done. My average chapter length is roughly 3000-5000 words. I'm excited! >.<

Hi chuck! I've never RPed with you I don't think but I've seen you around several times. ^_^
Anyway, I've been doing NaNo for several years now, since 2004 I think. I haven't finished it a single time. The farthest I've gotten is 42k and it was actually the first time I did it. I loved it because it really does challenge you with that discipline to sit down and write that certain amount but also to be as creative as possible and write an entire story from start to finish in 50k min. I would definitely recommend doing it. It's a great bit of fun and an amazing challenge. ^_^
I'm thinking about doing it this year too but I've got a lot of personal stuff going on right now so I might not. Either way, I'll come cheer you guys on. xD

Feigning_Innocence Hi chuck! I've never RPed with you I don't think but I've seen you around several times. ^_^ Hi, Fei. I remember you too. We both joined a Harry Potter roleplay that failed to launch. A lot of people from the LRPG, I find, have migrated here. Which is good. I feel that this guild has a great deal of promise.

I honestly don't remember that RP, lol! And I'm glad a lot of people have come here but I also hope LRPG managers to survive too. I really like writing with a lot of the people there that haven't joined here but I'm also looking forward to writing here. ^_^

The LRPG is probably the best collection of RP prowess I've seen on Gaia Online (perhaps my sampling of guilds has been limited, but I'd like to thing you were the cream of the crop when I sent the invites) Naturally, when I re-booted my guild to cater to literates and writers, the LRPG was the first place I visited for potential members...
Still, I by no means want to rob a good thing of what makes it good; I still have characters in LRPG (granted, one is frozen, and the other I haven't posted for in awhile), so I ask you all don't abandon them either. If you like RPing there, you should, but this guild is here, ready to take the best the game has to offer, just like LRPG
