User ImageIma shook the water from his body vigorously as he stepped out of the lake. It had been another hot day, and he always liked to come here to cool off a bit. Looking around, he searched through the crowds for any faces that he might be interested in.

Some of the other youth of the pride that he enjoyed socializing with had come of age, and were readying themselves to go out on their quests. Fortunately for Ima, he had four brothers to keep him entertained while the others were gone. There were new cubs in the pride he knew.

The lioness that had died, he had only known who she was, but didn’t actually know her. It was sad, and he wondered what her pad was going to do with all of his new children without her. Despite how they were generally thought of in the pride, he understood the importance of banu.

User ImageRam wasn't thinking about the lioness who had died. He was a carnivore and so death was a part of his life. Not that he was a cannibal. He didn't think of the lioness as food. He just wasn't upset by her death. He hadn't known her, though he did know they were related somehow. Not by blood. He thought maybe one of his father's sisters was banu to one of her sons. Maybe?

But he wasn't thinking about that. His thoughts were on a frustrating encounter he'd had the other day with one of the new cubs born in the pride. Husni was the grandson of that other vizier, the one his father had warned him to stay away from. Tariq'ra'd. His father was Akram'raja, who may or may not have been the best and brightest of his litter, but wasn't even the son of Tariq'ra'd's beybanu, and so he wasn't so important. It was complicated, but the point was that Husni had made a bad impression on Ram.

"Goody-goody coward," Ram grumbled with a scowl. "It wasn't like we'd've gotten into any real trouble."

He had warned Ra'd to stay away from the litter in general and Husni in particular, but he'd not gotten the chance to warn the rest of his brothers before their father came home and he'd had to change the subject. He didn't want to get in trouble for how that encounter had gone.

The day was hardly over, and he thought that, if all else failed, he could just go swimming again. However, he was already beginning to dry off and the idea of getting completely wet again wasn’t as appealing as it had been earlier. With that, he headed away from the lake and on to a different part of the lands.

Walking aimlessly, Ima tried to think of something to do with the rest of his day. Momentarily considering heading home, he quickly rejected the idea, as he would only be bored to death there. Although, his mother was there, and he always liked to be around her.

Sighing, he plopped down into the grass and thought to himself. Before he got too far in any ideas he might have had, he saw a flash of gold out of the corner of his vision. Lifting his head up, he smiled as he watched Ram. Standing up, he trotted over to his brother.

Ram was oblivious to his brother's presence or approach. He was still fuming over the little moron he had met before. It wasn't doing any good, he knew. By thinking about Husni, he was just giving the idiot power over him, which he obviously didn't deserve. But the problem was Ram couldn't help it. He was still angry that someone so stupid could exist. He couldn't even be properly put in his place because he didn't know when he was being insulted.

It wasn't until Ima was nearly right next to him that Ram noticed him, and then he had to quickly make himself stop scowling. He didn't want his brother to get the mistaken impression that Ram was mad with him. The only time Ram got mad at his brothers was when they jumped on him while he was trying to sleep, or something, and the last time that had happened with one of Ram's brothers had done that Ram had beaten him in their subsequent race even so. The memory made him grin at his own prowess.

"Hi, Ima," he greeted him. "What're you up to?"

As Ima approached his brother, it became easier and easier to tell that he was enraged over something or other the closer that he got. The blue cub couldn’t think of any pranks that he might have pulled earlier that day either.

Chuckling to himself, he tried to think of what would upset him so much. Having grown alongside him thus far, Ima knew a thing or two that would put Ram in a mood like this. Especially the things that he himself had been apart of.

He grinned at his brother as he stood in front of him. “Hey, I’m bored, looking for something to do with the rest of the day,” he sighed and kicked a rock that what laying near his paw.

"What’s giving you a hissy fit?” he questioned Ram curiously.

"What, no tricks to play?" Ram asked, suddenly remembering that Ima had been known to do such things and that Ram himself often fell victim to them due to a perfectly natural tendency toward overconfidence. Ram didn't consider himself to be overconfident. He was just confident enough for his level of awesomeness.

"Oh, remember that stupid cub I started to tell you all about the other night? It still bothers me. Dumb, huh?"

It occurred to Ram that if he wasn't about to be victimized by Ima, the two of them might be able to find a way to take his mind off the annoying little brat he'd met. Husni. What a stupid, stupid name. Just like his stupid father and grandfather. The whole family was stupid. Ram didn't understand why the sultan kept any of them around. Yes. He need a distraction badly.

"We should do something." And he would leave it up to Ima to decide what because he was feeling generous.

“None today,” he replied in amusement. Yes, he was a little trickster that was occasionally up to no good, he couldn’t help it. He had managed to frighten a young banu his age a few days ago, and that had filled his trickery meter for the time being to his satisfaction.

Furrowing his brow, Ima tried to think of the cub that Ram spoke of. “Oh yeah, on of the younger ones right? What was his name, Husni wasn’t it?,” he said certainly, he remembered his brother telling him of this cub. Personally, he didn’t think that he would put up with any foolishness from the younger cubs.

Shrugging his shoulders, he replied, “Nah, he sounds annoying anyway.”As Ram suggested that they do something, Ima tried to think of something interesting that they could so.

“Hey, I know,” he lowered his voice andd said quietly, “Let’s go to the edge of the land.” As in the pride’s border line. Ima didn’t know how much trouble they could get into from going that far out, but it sounded like fun.

If Ram had known his brother was going about frightening banu, he would have given Ima a sound thumping. Well, maybe. He couldn't disapprove if he was frightening Akram'raja's daughters, who were probably even stupider than their brothers, but if it was just some random banu and if there were tears involved then thumpings would have happened. However, Ram was ignorant of the event, and so the point was moot.

"Yes. Husni," Ram confirmed. He didn't want to talk about it. Ima's arrival had been just the distraction he needed from dwelling on someone who was not important enough to be dwelt upon, and he didn't want his brother to drag him back into that. So he was glad when Ima dismissed the subject with a shrug and the pronouncement that he sounded annoying. Because he was annoying.

"The edge?" Ram repeated, a grin curling his lips upward. That sounded like a fantastic adventure. "Yes, let's do that."

We could probably end this with the two of them going off toward the border, and then maybe do a separate RP for their adventure. Or not.

Sounds like a plan. End in next post?

"Alright, let's go," he said before walking off. As a cub, he had heard about older cubs going out to the edge of the pride, but he had never tried it in fear of getting in trouble. Well, he wasn't so tiny anymore and wanted to get a glimpse of the rouge lands himself.

He knew that he would have to go out their one day, and he had no idea what to expect. As they walked, they passed through the familiar parts of the pride's inner lands. Ima kept looking around them, trying to see if there was anyone around that would stop them from going too far.

However, they only got closer and closer to the borders of the pride. As he was beginning to wonder how much futher they would be walking when he finally saw in the horizon where the trees stopped and the land turned into endless plains. Pausing, he turned to his brother and asked, "What do you think it's like out there?"

Ram set off after his brother, catching up quickly before settling into a more relaxed pace at his side. Perhaps if they both looked like they weren't doing something they weren't supposed to be doing, no one would notice or take issue with their little adventure, as they undoubtedly would if he or Ima tried to sneak or did anything equally suspicious.

Toward the edge of the lands Ima paused and turned to Ram with a question, one the golden-coated juvenile had a ready reply for. He looked out at the unfamiliar territory with wide blue eyes and then looked back at his brother before responding:

"Exciting. I bet it's exciting." And he couldn't wait to find out if he was right.
