Ishara laughed happily as she joked with her sister. It had been a while since she’d been able to spend time with her. It was so strange, beginning to take on the duties of a regular adult in the pride. Although, she was proud of herself and her brother and sister.
As a young cub, she had spent much time fantasizing about adulthood, and everything that she would be able to do once she got older. Well, things didn’t seem as mystical and far off as they once had. Bidding her sister farewell, Ishara left her to her day plans and headed out into the pride.
Typically, each morning, she would wander around the lands until she found someone to spent her day with, or something to do. Sometimes she got lucky and caught one of the younger or older members of the pride when they needed help with something or other. Either way, she felt like today wouldn’t be a bad one.

Adolescence had done nothing to diminish the brotherly bond between Musabari and Zikamil. If anything, their recent "curing" of a fear of cooties had brought them even closer, and few days would pass without Kam discreetly nudging his bigger brother and nodding gleefully toward some passing lioness.
Musabari had to admit that Kam had a good eye for pointing out pretty lionesses, but at the same time, the golden lion suspected that his brother wasn't really that picky either way. Adolescent testosterone and whatnot, a hormone that Musabari seemed to have gotten a lot less of. He was rarely raging to go anywhere, and while he certainly had picked up an appetite, he hadn't put on as impressive a growth spurt as Kam had. Musabari suspected the reason to be that he had always been bigger as the firstborn, and it simply took more growing on Kam's part to catch up.
But in any case, Musabari was much less a typical teenaged boy than his brother, so it was a surprise to them both when he suddenly heard a laugh that made him pause in his tracks and look about wildly for its source. "Hey, Kam... did you hear that?" He ventured a sideways glance at his brother.
Zikamil paused, cocking his head. "Hear what, my stomach growling? Yea, I did too, brother. Let's go eat." And he had taken several steps forward before he realized that Musabari hadn't budged and was still looking about frantically. What was up with him today? Kam's best guess was that he had heard the call of some never-before-seen species of bird and was attempting to track down its caller. Musabari was into stuff like that.
Rolling his eyes, he turned back and nudged his brother with his shoulder. "Hey, come on, man, I'm hungry. Food comes first. It doesn't wait, you know." But still, his brother refused to move, and he was looking around for-- oh.
Kam saw the object of his brother's attention a split second after Musabari did, simply walking along, looking like she was enjoying herself without putting much effort into it. Now that, he could appreciate. Having a good time was Kam's specialty.
Still, that didn't dispel the weirdness of the situation. It was never Musabari that pointed out the eye-candy. Kam could only chalk it up to the fact that his golden brother was now a man, and had learned to appreciate the finer points of girl-watching. He nudged Musabari again, this time with a broad grin on his face. "Good call, brother," he said, practically beaming. He was so proud. And then, to his surprise, Musabari asked if they might go over and meet her. Damn, his brother was really growing up! "Of course we can go meet her," he agreed. "After you." And for the first time in along time, he followed while Musabari led the way over to the gray lioness.

Ishara was humming lightly to herself, think of something to do or somewhere to go. It was so different being on her own, wandering the lands without her mother at her side. It was still early, if the position of the sun told her anything.
She did not immediately notice the two young males approaching her as she stared up into the sky, drifting away with the clouds. However, when she sensed someone approaching her, she lowered her eyes and saw them. Tilting her head to the side, she thought that she recognized them from seeing them somewhere in the pride, but she had never actually met them.
Putting on a friendly smile, she waved her tail behind her in anticipation as they came close to her.

Each step took an eternity, and Musabari was scared. Actually scared. He wasn't sure what was going to go down - for the first time in his life, there was no manuscript to memorize and no knowing what to expect. And... well... she looked nice, but... looks could be deceiving, and what if he wasn't sure what to say or do or be? What if... what if...
And then, before he could figure out what came next, he was right in front of her and Kam was grinning expectantly behind him. She even seemed to be waiting for him to get close enough for a conversation. The golden lion was practically trembling in his paws by the time he opened his mouth to speak and...
Nothing came out. Oh no! What was he supposed to say?? What if she thought he was an idiot. He was so sure she thought he was an idiot, standing with mouth agape and no words coming out. Oh, god. Ohhh god...
"Yo." Kam nudged Musabari discreetly. His brother, normally so composed and focused, seemed completely lost and incapacitated. So frozen was he that Kam thought he might tip over if a breeze but blew through. It was time to take charge of the situation.
Clearing his throat, he stepped up beside Musabari and offered the lioness his brightest grin, a signature Kam move that was cheekily lopsided and somehow way too genuine. "Hey, how's it going? I hope we're not interrupting your walk. My brother and I, we just heard you laughing and, well you just sounded so happy that we wanted to join in the fun." Of course. Leave it up to Kam to bring up having fun. If he could have his way, he would spend his entire life without duties, simply gallivanting through the Pridelands at will.
"I'm Kam, by the way. This guy here is Musabari."

Ishara suppressed a giggle as the two handsome young males came up to her. This was another perk of growing out of cubhood, she had to admit, and it wasn’t often that she was approached like this.
The golden one caught her eye immediately with his awkward demeanor, but it was the other that spoke first, so she turned her attention to him. “Hello, I am Ishara, and you’re not interrupting me at all. I was just talking to my sister...,” looking off, she tried to see Rinj’s form in the distance, but she was already gone.
Ishara absently wondered what she was going to do now. Looking back to the two in front of her she smiled brightly and replied,“It is nice to meet the two of you. What are you guys up to today?”

Musabari's could practically feel himself deflating. He was such a failure, it was ridiculous. It wasn't physically possible to fail any harder than he had. And yet, Kam seemed to be just fine, completely unintimidated by the lioness. How was such brazen confidence even possible, especially when she was so pretty? She probably had guys approach her every day... and what if she already had a mate? That would be awkward..... And Musabari didn't particularly fancy the idea of getting his butt kicked for being too forward.
Which, of course, wasn't going to be a problem, because apparently he was mute around pretty girls. So he contented himself with just looking at her in as uncreepy a way as possible. She had such nice eyes. And fur. And ears. And... now he was just listing body parts.
He shook himself out of the reverie. "Oh, we... we uh." Nevermind. His voice came out about as loud as whisper, and he didn't really know what to say anyway. This was such a bad idea.
Kam chuckled and rolled his eyes at Musabari's apparent ineptitude. What was he thinking, acting like that? It was the first time even Kam had seen his golden brother behave like this.
"Ishara? I like your name," he said with a nod. "What's it mean?" As far as he knew, his own name didn't mean much. It was just a jumble of syllables taken from his grandparents' names, and Musabari's was the same, from their great-grandparents' names. Which seemed to suit Mu just fine. He was having a great time trying to lift up the mantle of awesomeness that Mufasa had left for his descendants. Kam himself wasn't prepared to even try. He wasn't Mufasa, no point pretending otherwise.
"Hm, well, we could be up to a lot more now that you're here," Kam replied, grinning. And it wasn't just a cheesy line either. There were a whole lot more opportunities for three instead two. Three was a crowd, which mean that there was fun to be had.

“Yes?”, she said in response to Musabari as he seemed to begin to speak. He seemed so adorably shy that she hadn’t really expected to hear much from him, so she paid attention when she heard from him. However, it didn’t look like there was anything else about to come out of the quiet brother.
Turning back to Zikamil, she smiled and replied,“My name? Thank you, ah, I think it means “a sign”. At least, that’s what my mom told me.” She decided that she liked Zikamil, despite his cheesy lines. He seemed like the kind of guy that she liked to be around.
Flicking her ears in thought, she tried to think of something fun that they could all do together. A mischevious grin spread across her face as an idea came to her. “I know, there’s a place that not many know about, come on, follow me!,” she said enthusiastically. Getting to her feet, she began walking toward the part of the pride that was surrounded by trees.

Boudaihobbit ((Sorry this took so long! The past couple of weeks have been ridiculously busy! D8 )) Oh.... darn. He'd blown it! A perfect opportunity to speak and he'd just clammed up like an idiot. He'd probably ruined any and all chances of ever speaking to her again, so he might as well not even try. The golden lion heaved a mental sigh, silently berating himself for acting like such a klutz. She probably had the worst first impression of him too. Probably thought of him as "the quiet one" or something, while Kam would probably become "that boy who suggested they have an awesome time and carried through with his promises." Because Kam always did when it came to having fun.
And Musabari was... well, he was Musabari. He wasn't as socially adept as his brother, and he didn't quite have the same way with words. Feeling at ease around pretty girls was definitely not his strong suit.
He snapped out of his reverie as Kam and Ishara began padding away, and he hastily caught up, lingering beside them as they embarked on what promised to be good fun.
"A sign, huh?" Kam echoed with an unusually pensive look on his face. "Well, that's fitting. I think you're a sign for something." He grinned. "Although, I don't know what yet." Unlike Musabari, he stood completely at ease beside Ishara, content to just chat and relax. Socializing came as second nature to Kam, whose life revolved around having the connections to fully enjoy himself, no matter when or where. Being able to chat lions up simply came with the territory.
"So this place of yours," he added, rising to his feet and following eagerly alongside her. "Any place I might know?"

Well, I don't know, you might," she said in response to Zikamil's inquery. She had only stumbled upon it on accident when she was young. Upset, she had fled to a part of the pride where she thought that noone would find her, and that is how she'd found it.
Padding through the trees, she stopped suddenly and ducked under a series of vines and bushes off to the right. It took some crawling, but she still managed to pop out on the other side of the bushes to see the small clearing heavily enclosed by trees and thick shrubs.
In the middle was a large pool of water with leaves and petals from the surounding plants floating atop it's surface. She turned to make sure they had made it as well. "This is my secret place," she said softly, looking around making sure everything was the same.
Smiling brightly, she took off running and leapt into the blue water. Somehow, Ishara knew that she would be seeing these two much more often.

Well, this looked... scary. Musabari hesitated as Ishara ducked into a mesh of vines and disappeared into the darkness. What was that? How did they know it was even safe? What if something lived inside? There were all sorts of considerations to be addressed, and... and...
He stepped up next to Kam, a worried look lingering in his red eyes. "Kam, shouldn't we... I mean, that looks kind of dangerous."
And all the while, he regarded the undergrowth with an air of skepticism. Musabari wasn't the adventuring sort, and the last thing he wanted to do was wade into a bunch of dark shrubs and vines that he had never even seen before. Maybe as a cub, he would have followed Kam into the darkness without much second thought (though when it came to second thoughts, he surely would have had a few), but now... Well, now they were both older and more mature, even if Kam's maturity was still questionable, and they should know better than to go crawling about where they weren't supposed to!
Unfortunately for Musabari, his brother wasn't really thinking about the potential dangers of the bunch of vines. Not that Kam frequently thought about danger, but right now, he was a little too focused on having a good time, and adventure fit perfectly into Kam's definition of fun. Anything unknown, anything unexplored and new was enough to strike his fancy.
Even as Musabari sidled up, he was standing with that devilish smile of his, waiting for his turn to squeeze in between the vines and see for himself what lay on the other side. His violet eyes were fixated on the darkness into which Ishara and just vanished, and he barely even turned to look at Musabari before dispelling his brother's fears.
"It's fine, Mu," he said with a shake of his head, dropping down and climbing in. "Just have a little faith." His voice echoed back, and before Musabari could protest, he had disappeared, leaving his brother with no other option than to follow reluctantly.
When he reappeared on the other side, he saw the pool, littered with petals, set aside from the rest of the world like an oasis, and he couldn't help but smile. "It's brilliant," he said with a grin as Musabari emerged behind him. He gave his brother a moment to take in their new surroundings, and then with a gentle nudge, he motioned toward the water.
"Let's go."
