Nub-Nofre was in trouble. She'd been on her way home from class when she decided to take advantage of one of her favorite shade trees for a bit to rest from the harsh sun. Unfortunately, she wasn't alone, a huge hairy spider skittered into the shade after her. With a loud panicked yowl Nofre actually climbed the tree in fear. Totally ineffective, especially since spiders can climb trees too.
Usually she'd have a brother kill it. Or Daddy. He was very good at killing creatures with too many legs. Even Mom could do it. But Nofre, who could handle snakes, scary stories and seemingly everything else could simply not abide by creepy crawlers. But none of them were with her. She'd stayed after class to chat with one of her friends and now she was in this quandry. Ewww don't let it touuuuch her!

He heard the panicked cry and leapt forwards in surprise, his whole body tense; ears turning to try and pinpoint the location. He'd been drawing random shapes in the sand with a broken twig - just to pass the time whilst he waited for something to turn up and distract him. Now that distraction was here and it worried him.
Someone sounded...frightened?
With the stick still in his mouth, he trotted forwards, eyes scanning the land; the rocks; the tree. Oh. Wait. The tree. Someone was up there. He paused, tilted his head curiously and then dropped the stick so that he could speak to her. "Hello? Is...something wrong? Was that your cry I heard?"
He had not yet seen the spider, so fascinated by seeing the young lioness in a tree.

Oh thank the gods! Someone had heard her and was on the rescue. "K-k-kiiiilll it!" Said the little lioness. She whimpered in fear as the spider, doubtlessly sensing her terror, started up the tree. "Don't let it get me!" She sank her claws even further into the tree spasmodically. "I can't stand spiders!" She was so frightened that she couldn't even contemplate how ridiculous she sounded. A big strong lioness cub like her, afraid of a spider no bigger then her paw.

Kill it? What was 'it' exactly? And then her next statement made all clear. A spider. But where--oh, there. He could see the horrible looking creature near the base of the tree and, to be fair, it did appear as if it were chasing the poor girl, though it was probably just as frightened. Even still, he was not going to stand by and ignore her plight, it just wasn't in him to do so. Instead he hefted the stick back into his mouth and quickly closed the gap between them. Then, sliding the stick under the belly of the spider he twisted his head and sent the spider flying through the air, landing some good distance away. Perhaps it would think, next time, about chasing lions up trees.
He cast a look over his shoulder to make sure the spider didn't get any other ideas about coming close again, before setting down the stick and rearing up on his hind legs; placing his forepaws against the tree trunk.
"Don't worry, it's over there now. I don't think it'll come close - not for a while yet, anyway. Are you alright?"

Nub-Nofre peered down the tree and watched the big youngster fling the spider away. With a relieved sigh she pushed off the tree to land in the sand on her paws. "Thank you sooooo much. I really just... can't handle insects." She shuddered in fear and revulsion. "You really flung it far!" Nofre was very impressed with his strength.
"I'm Nub-Nofre, daughter of Orad and Ampalaya, it's a pleasure to meet you. I really can't thank you enough. I really, really appreciate it." She looked up at him like he'd hung the moon. Just for saving her from a spider (slavering beast).

He dropped back down to all fours as she found her paws back on the sand again and turned to peer curiously across at her. "Oh! Oh, well, that's alright. Spiders aren't the nicest things in the world to look at so I can understand that." Some had pretty nasty bites, too, but he figured he'd leave that information out in case it scared her even more. It was an unnecessary detail.
He gave her a modest, shy sort of smile and nodded. "It's the first time I've used a stick to get rid of a spider." He patted the tool with a paw.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Khet." He blinked, suddenly thinking his name rather short and boring. "Son of Ngoma'mwale and Ramla." He moved a little closer before sitting down, brushing his tail across the sand in an attempt to smooth it. "You have really unusual markings on your fur, Nub-Nofre. They're green, just like the palm trees! You must be really good at playing hide and seek with your pelt. Perhaps, if you see another spider, if you lay down against the sand, it'll walk past without even noticing. Might be worth a try if you find yourself in the same situation and no one is around."
He blinked. "Orrrr...you could always carry a stick around with you?" He gave a brief chuckle at that.

Unusual markings hm? Well, not counting her siblings she supposed that was true. "Spiders are terrifying, and it's really nice to meet you too, Khet. You have great timing. I don't know what I was going to do. Though carrying around a stick is sounding more and more like the solution since you were so affective with yours." Or maybe she could persuade him to follow her everywhere and take care of everything. He was certainly big and strong enough.

(( sorry hon, totally missed this for some reason @_@ ))
He gave her a short nod and an easy smile eased its way across her face. "Being scared of insects isn't uncommon, I don't think. I don't particularly like them myself. They're not the nicest looking of creatures." He blinked. "So it's only insects that bother you?" He was just enquiring, not teasing. He wasn't one for teasing and making fun of people.
"I'm always around. If you ever need any help with anything, you can let me know and I can always try to assist. I'm thinking about becoming a Guardian when I grow up. Protecting the pride seems like a good job."
