We have officially passed the 1/4 mark, and Bizzaro season continues to baffle as we move on.

1. Effect of Davis's Death- Yesterday every NFL team paid tribute to the late owner of the Oakland Raiders with a moment of silence before each game. After Superbowl XXXVII the Raiders suffered many loosing seasons, and it was amazing how many Raider fans I've talked to over the years who would tell me the same thing, "Al Davis needs to either sell the team or die for the Raiders to be good again!" From the Raider fans I've talked to I thought this was what the overwhelming majority of Raider fans believed too. But yesterday proved that this wasn't the case. With exception to one crazed fan who jumped for joy in an online post, everyone else mourned and paid their respects for the late owner. Can't say for sure how much Raider nation loved Davis, if Love is even the most appropriate word, but the amount of respect for this man many seemed to have hated and were just waiting for him to pass away was phenomenal. And I am happy that my earlier opinion on what Raider fans had to say about Davis, for the most part was proven wrong.
So what's next for the Raiders? After their impressive win over Houston yesterday, talks have already sprung up that the Raiders are now officially back in the bidding to move back down to Los Angeles. Davis talked about relocating the Raiders back to L.A. But differences in opinion between Al and the Stadium builders on control for the team made Davis withdraw his bid to relocate. Now things are different, and what was once a 5 team race to L.A. (Chargers, Jaguars, Rams, Vikings, Bills,) have become a 6 team sprint, with the Raiders now looking like the most likely team to get there. The NFL believes Los Angeles is a large enough market for two teams, but won't allow for two AFC teams or two NFC teams in the area. Meaning if the Raiders get the deal done, then the Jaguars, Chargers, and Bills will have missed their window of opportunity. Another possibility, Jed York, owner of the San Francisco 49ers has offered to include the Raiders in on the Santa Clara stadium project and has talked to the Raiders of Joint residence of the stadium similar to what the Jets and Giants have in New York. Regardless of what happens, it has only been 48 hours since Al's death, and we are already starting to see the effects of it.

Bizzaro Season Marches On!- Whether if it's the lock out, or just the natural evolution of the game, this NFL season has been one for the Record books. Many season records are on the verge of being not only surpassed, but shattered. last week I talked about the overwhelming amount of come from behind victories of great margins. Yesterday the Chiefs added to the list with a come from behind victory of the Colts after trailing by 17. With 11 weeks of play left, the record for most come from behind victories in a season is likely to be shattered within the next few weeks. Also, we have seen more 400+ yard passers in the first 5 weeks than ever before. After yesterday's games NFL Quarterbacks are only 3 400+ yard performances away from breaking the record for an entire season! And how's this for a topper. Regardless of how tonight's game ends, billing for next weeks game between the Detroit Lions and San Francisco 49ers is already being set up as the Match Up of the week! Really? The 49ers who haven't had a winning season nor have gone to the Playoffs since 2002, and the Detroit Lions? Game of the Week!? It has been reported that Fox will be sending one of their top broadcast teams to Detroit to call the game! Unbelievable.

Dream Team No More- This past week Michael Vick wanted the phrase "Dream Team" Stricken from the record. Last week I mentioned that the Eagles situation isn't as bad as it may seem despite their 1-3 start. Well Things have gone from bad to worse in Philadelphia as the Eagles dropped to 1-4, and Vick's record breaking performance, (90 yards rushing breaking Randal Cunningham's record for most rushing yards by a QB ever) was little to cheer about compared to his 4 INT. Granted not all of Vicks interceptions can be blamed on him, but the Superbowl team we thought was going to take the NFL by storm is anything but. I'll admit I picked the Eagles to win it all in my pre-season predictions. After last weeks loss despite still not completely giving up on them I still officially got off the Eagles ban wagon. And after this weeks loss, many other Eagle enthusiasts are doing the same. All is not lost for the Eagles, the Giants lost to the Seahawks yesterday, while the Redskins and Cowboys are on bye weeks and could not extend their leads over Philly. Can the Eagles turn their season around? Absolutely, I still believe they can, they have the talent, but will they? Unlikely. And whispers have already come up about the Eagles organization possibly firing Andy Reid after the season if things don't get better.

SHOUT OUT PLAYERS
Sebastian Janikowski (Kicker Oakland Raiders)- The Raiders emotional win yesterday came on the leg of Sebastian Janikowski, who kicked 4 field goals, three from beyond 50 yards! Three field goals from beyond 50 has never been done in the NFL. So Shout out to Janikowski for his insane performance yesterday.

Ben Roethlisberger (Quarterback Pittsburgh Steelers)- I'll admit, I have all but written off the Steelers for the season, I had greater faith that the Eagles would turn their season around before the Steelers. Especially considering Roethlisbergers injury, poor protection by his offensive line, and playing a surprise 3-1 Tennessee team. Instead Ben keeps the steelers hope for a return trip to the playoffs alive with an amazing 5 TD performance. I don't know if anything is left in the Steeler tank after yesterdays' game, but Ben and Co are showing they still have a lot of fight left in them.

Tim Tebow (Quarterback Denver Broncos)- 4 of 10 passes for 79 yards and one TD. Not great numbers, so why include him? Tim may not have had the numbers to merit a great performance, but after trailing division leading San Diego 26-10, the Broncos benched Orton in favor of the questionable Tebow. His numbers weren't that great, but he sparked that team in an amazing way, leading them to two scoring drives to bring the game within 5 points, and nearly capped a full on comeback which ended on thee last play of the game. Some players leave their mark by the numbers they produce. Others by how they play and influence others on the field. I don't know if this was a fluke, but Tebow influenced a down-trodden Broncos team and got them to bounce back and nearly pull off a huge upset. His leadership and ability to rally this team behind him caught my interest, and calls for a shout out.
