❖❖❖❖❖ NAMEFenrisulfr or Fenrir (A giant wolf in Norse mythology, Fenrisulfr was said to kill the god Odin during the events of Ragnarok.)ESSENCE // ANIMALWolf Obsidian & AmberMAGICAL AFFINITYThrough his jaws, Fenrir is able to soak and absorb magics, dissipating and instantly sending them back to the aether. Typically this goes smoothly except for two things; he has to be able to clench his jaws around a spell which most typically means it needs to have a physical presence, rather than an incantation or what have you, and if it is extremely powerful then instead of absorbing it he will receive the damage from it. It's sort of the luck of the draw. That said, Obsidian is still a mirror-like surface and this is his main composition; as such, he is able to reflect minor and weak spells from his body, acting as a good shield for Relena if she gets swept into battle with another magic wielder.STATISTICSPotential ❖❖❖❖❖❖ Fenrir's abilities are estimated to be above average, mostly due to the more unique nature of his magics and the opportunities it will open when he gains access to his User's. As of yet, these are untapped and will be more properly measured as he grows and changes.
Drawback ❖❖❖❖❖❖ His drawback is fairly solid. This is because he has a decent probability of hurting himself if he messes up while using his abilities, due to their nature. This may lower as he grows, but for now he must be careful.
Power Level ❖❖❖❖❖❖ While his size, shape, and make up are intimidating on their own, for sure, Fenrir's magical abilities are far from their peak and, even then, they're not as strong or flashy as standard offensive magic. His magics fall loosely under the Time category and are considerably weaker than most involved with such powers.APPEARANCEstage 1 descriptionPERSONALITYThe wolf he is shaped after has made a great impact on his mentality, some subtle and others obvious. Most specifically, Fenrir holds rank up of great importance and works based on a pack mentality; Relena and he are the Alphas of their pack, working together as partners, but he also understands that there are many people who far outrank the both of them all across Mistwick and he will follow orders from them just as well as orders from Relena. As a Guardian, he is a watcher and a protector but he is well aware that violence can only solve violent problems and other, more delicate issues should be dealt with using the utmost care. While he knows this, it is often times difficult for him to show tenderness or offer a gentle hand (especially at stage 1) and so it is Relena's duty to stand in for him.
Fenrir is the sort who believes that if you have a problem then you also have a solution: yourself. Other people can only help you so much, but most issues stemming from the self can also only be solved by ones self and relying on others is merely a crutch to keep from having to face that truth. He is not one to pussyfoot around issues or sugarcoat his advice, and he can sometimes be bullheaded in offering it where it isn't wanted. He does not abide beating one's self up needlessly, as excessive negative thoughts will only make a person more liable to make the same mistake and it will lead to a downward spiral of self loathing. Fenrir takes it upon himself to act as a voice of reason, especially to people as easily influenced by words or actions as his User. He is a realist at heart, neither demanding perfection nor rewarding failure, and while his advice may at times feel hurtful he is always there to pick up the pieces and stand beside you as you try again.
Emotions are things that Fenrir finds difficulty in. He tries to keep a calm and cool veneer but in actuality he is quite expressive. If one were to offend him, it would be exceptionally easy to tell. Conversely, even if he has a straight face his tail will belie it if he receives positive reinforcement, wagging happily as it would for any dog. This is actually something that causes him repeated embarrassment and he tries to draw attention away from it as much as possible. Beyond the basic emotions of happy, sad and angry, Fenrir finds it difficult to pin point what precisely he may be feeling at any given time, especially if there is more than one emotion being evoked. He also finds it extremely tiresome to try and describe his emotions, as they are such abstract things by nature he normally finds himself at a loss when put on the spot about them.
Though he is as intelligent as a human, Fenrir is not above his animal nature and it certainly peeks through from time to time. As a wild animal, wolves are very keen on their freedom and movement, and Fenrir is no different. He finds the prospect of sitting still for too long to be irritating, and stagnation is something he refuses to endure. One could go so far as to say that he detests the very idea of boredom. As such, he can also be rather impatient at times, which he normally counteracts with restless pacing rather than nagging for people to hurry up. Though it hasn't been properly documented as being common among wolves or dogs, Fenrir does have a certain apprehension around men with beards -- full, large beards that is. He justifies it as the beard making it harder for him to read their expressions and thus making them seem secretive and untrustworthy, but Relena thinks it's just a bit of silly puppy logic that stuck with him somehow.

[ART] ❖❖❖❖❖ NAMERelena Cortean This is not her birth name, but one given to her by her caretaker. Her true name is unknown.AGENineteen Graduated at 18, did internships for most of another year.OCCUPATION // CLASSUnemployed Scout infoMAGICAL AFFINITYRelena's abilities are unlocked through physical contact with a dark or tainted object as well as concentration to tap into the latent ability. Her skin then acts as a doorway of sorts, dissipating the dark magic back into the aether. However, purifying takes a great deal of concentration and the effects vary from object to object. If it is a small relic merely touched by dark magic, it would not take a great deal of energy to purify. If it were an old Guardian fully tainted by dark powers, then it would be extremely dangerous. Relena's body is, essentially, purified and a source of purity (she's a virgin, has never taken a life, and doesn't want to hurt people who don't deserve it) so coming into contact (or even the presence) of strong dark magics causes her distress and sometimes physical pain. In extreme cases, if it is cast upon her or she touches an object of exceptional taint, she can become hysterical and mysterious wounds appear (even if it isn't attacking magic). In the absolute worst case scenario, it would even be possible for dark magics to strip her of her own purity but this possibility has not been presented to Relena and she has no idea what would happen in such a situation. She would feel better just not thinking about it. (now trim it down lol)APPEARANCEA thin, young looking frame but toned enough from athletic exercise. Her skin is lightly tanned from being outside often, accentuated by long copper colored hair. Her eyes stand out against the rest of her warm colors as a forest green, She is fairly light, weighing in at 114lbs for her 5'4" height, and has a long bone structure so she looks her age. While Relena isn't one for rouge or make up, she does try to dress smartly while not doing work or attending lessons and this can range from flowing dresses to accessories of silk and lace. She is most comfortable, however, in short skirts or short pants for ease of movement and prefers the feeling of air on her skin (especially her legs) so she isn't one for stockings. While working she keeps her long mass of hair tied up and hidden with a short veil so it doesn't get in her way. PERSONALITYThough attaining womanhood in terms of mental and physical maturity, Relena is still very much an innocent. The fact that her magical affinity is heavily steeped in purity is no coincidence, as she is a very pure individual herself, abstaining from most everything negative (alcohol, over indulgence, and especially intercourse to the point of never having been kissed). She is the optimistic sort that sees good in most everything and believes everything deserves a chance, but Relena isn't so blind as to believe that everyone or everything can be redeemed; once its chance is used up or taken advantage of, she goes on the attack with strong determination to do what she thinks is right. In typical Relena style, however, this normally winds up being rants and minor punishments. Following her innocent and pure nature, she refuses to cause anyone harm if it can at all be helped. Minor creatures are no different than humans to her and she will go out of her way to humanely trap and remove insects, rodents and other pests rather than kill them.
Relena is an excitable girl prone to over thinking, which often leads to her missing some of the more obvious solutions to problems and over complicating most situations and discussions. It is a bad habit of hers to try and read or assess people based upon what she sees as their motivations but is often incorrect which leads to more miscalculations. She is still young and naive at heart, leading to some gullibility from others and even herself. From a young age she had dreamed of the old classes, of royalty. As an orphan she has no idea what her heritage is and only her imagination to try and find out -- and she can be so imaginative. This has lead to her believing herself to having some sort of nobility in her blood and while it makes no difference in the current society of Mistwick it leads her to try and be more polite and proper. Mostly it is due to the influence of Madam Cortean, her caretaker and whose name she adopted when she had none of her own. That woman's influence in her life was very strong, and the idea of her having an 'uncommon' heritage, to say the least, was exceedingly romantic to her. It makes no difference in how she interacts with people, she certainly isn't going around calling herself "Lady Relena" or anything silly like that but she feels she has an image to uphold all the same.
She took her studies at the Citadel very seriously but still relies on the words of authority figures (which makes her extremely grateful for having such a forward thinking, advice giving and leader prone Guardian). Relena is a little confused with where she wants to be in life currently; she enjoys having a free schedule and not needing to adhere to the Citadel's rulings at all hours of the day but feels most comfortable being dependent on someone. In point of fact, though they may be dangerous, missions would be the time where she feels most at home and safe in her own skin. Though she won't admit it, total independence scares her as she feels it is equated with "being alone" rather than self reliant and this leads her to cling on to those closest to her.
While Relena can very much take care of herself in terms of cooking, cleaning and prioritizing there are some things she has not grown out of or will still request other people to do for her. Most are often meaningless, like her having difficulties braiding her own hair, but some of them are a bit more daunting -- like killing to survive. If she is completely honest, Relena has never been in a situation of kill or be killed, and certainly hasn't been in one where she has needed to kill or she will die of starvation. In actuality, these are dreaded thoughts that creep into her mind with the thought of being a scout, out in the wilderness, but she is at ease with the fact she will not be alone to deal with these problems and will have assistance from her guardian. To Relena, the very idea of taking something's life makes her feel ill and even worse the prospect of skinning and chopping it up. While she's no vegetarian activist and will eat meat if it is given to her, the entire process is better left out of sight and out of mind for her and she does tend to prefer fruit to meat for the most part. The sight of gore, as well, would likely make Relena extremely nauseous or potentially cause her to faint.COLORmedium aquamarine "dialogue"/"dialogue" | thoughts

The following is a tentative account for staff to look over and approve before I write it out fully. - As far as Relena knows, she is an orphan. When she was a toddler (about 2 or 3) she was found and passed around from home to home for roughly a year.
- Eventually finds a woman named Madam Cortean when she is about 4 who gives her a proper name (prior to this her name kept changing betwen families like an adopted dog), Relena Cortean, and takes her on as her daughter in paper only. She was an elderly woman, very proper, but with a soft spot for large dogs (she had a large male mastiff [non-guardian] named Duke).
- Madam Cortean told her very little of what snippets she knew about her history. She never told her any of the names she once carried, or how many homes had carried her, just that she was now in her care, she was not her 'mother' nor 'grandmother', and that she did not know where she came from. She was the first one to use the word "orphan" and it stuck.
- Relena immediately took to Duke and her name, and as she learned to speak she only ever referred to Madam Cortean as 'Madam' or Ma'am. She told Relena that she was not related to her by blood at all but that she would take care of her, prepare her for the world, and teach her how to be a proper lady. It was a lot for a young girl to take in but after the initial emotional shock Relena opened up to the idea.
- It didn't take long for her imagination to get away from her, through reading fantasy stories over the next few years, that maybe she was a true lady, of a princess sort, and her parents were royals. Because of Madam Cortean's influence, the setting felt so natural to her -- it made the most sense in her mind. What with Madam not explaining anything beyond not knowing who her real parents were or where she came from, it was easy to fill in the blanks with wishful thinking.
- After about four years ( making Relena about 7 or 8 ), elderly Madam Cortean passed away and the rest of her family was met with a tough decision: who would take Relena? For another few months she was passed between households, families, an unwanted burden to all of them. When Relena's magic cropped up, they were finally able to decide what to do; send her to the citadel. It had been such a simple thing, a crystal from a necklace one of her "cousins" at the time had just bought, but something felt off about it to Relena. She asked to see it, and with a bit of prodding her "cousin" obliged. After a short while of inspection and touching, a small amount of darkness was lifted from the gem and pulled into Relena's palm before disappearing entirely. The gem glowed brighter, and the family was flabbergasted but her "cousin" couldn't have been happier with the situation.
- From here, Relena began her studies and truly understanding the world in which she lived, as well as the people in it. She took the basic reading/writing/math courses, a course on all the different known types of magic, a class evaluation course (where she was deemed good Scout material), a course on her affinity, as well as a course on darker magics to learn a better defense against them. She made many friends that came and went, progressing, stagnating, and even flunking. It was here she was really introduced to magic and guardians, only hearing mentions of them here and there until her own magic cropped up. Many tutors watched over her, but did not connect with her on a more personal tutoring level for some years.
- When she was about 16, Relena was beginning to think that her magic wasn't going to go anywhere, much less get her anywhere. It was such a passive ability and from what she could tell she wasn't very good at it, but one of her instructors, a Ms. Solange, who took her under her wing and kept Relena from dropping out of her studies into something that ultimately wouldn't make her happy. Over the course of the next few years, Ms. Vesta Solange was able to assist Relena in strenghthening not only her willpower and resolve, but also getting her to tap further into her magical affinity. At 18 graduation came and went, and Relena still had not been picked for anything. She was considering just moving to the market and getting a job at an inn as a maid but Ms. Solange urged her to keep trying, insisting that her abilities should not be squandered. Purification was a subtle and tricky art, but it was something Relena's pure heart was suited for. It was a bit scary for Relena, and a bit dangerous to have been done at all, but at 19 Ms. Solange gave Relena a test. She had to purify a cursed item (what) that was almost dripping with negative energy. This was her test, her Assessment.
- Though successful, it drained Relena greatly and she was bed ridden for a few days following. However, she had passed the test and was one of the few, if not the only one of her class to have an affinity such as hers. In the later months of her 19th year, Relena Cortean was assigned to gain a Guardian.
