(( This RP is dated before the Negaverse Meeting RP ))

There was little time between Para's return and the fledgling plans she'd begun to make for post arrival home. There was still a hint of shame leftover from when she'd last had a run in with General Hematite before she'd gone off. He'd dragged her sorry a** home after her run in with 'Super'(stupid) Sailor Merope. There had been no forethought to that plan. She'd seen, she'd snuck, she failed. Miserably. For all the organizing and planning she found herself able to do while sitting at home, she'd abandon it with almost gleeful recklessness at the drop of a hat.

It was needless, and not likely to change anytime soon.

Though she was fairly certain that Hematite wasn't one who could rightfully judge her on that issue (but since when did that really ever stop anyone?). Regardless, she'd arranged a meeting with him. Scheelite no longer was interested in battle, dropping it like a bad habit. Hematite was a fighter, and someone she trusted. It was something she could only label to less than a handful of others.

Heather had shown up on Khaldun's doorstep. "I need your help." was the only thing she'd told him. He had appeared a little haggard, but none the less, he'd just shot her a grin that basically said "Yeah, I know." (or maybe it was more like "You don't have to tell me twice"). With very little time passing, Khaldun (rather now Hematite) had teleported them into the Negaverse. From there they entered the rift.

"This place looks shittier every time I come here," Hematite noted aloud, glancing around the empty arena. The rift's ambient power was like psychic humidity, clouding and frustrating that unnamed sense he relied on as much as the original five. He'd have to trust his peripheral vision if anything was going to leap out at them.

He turned his head to glance at Paragonite sidelong. He looked and sounded a little more serious than he usually did. "Taking on a super senshi alone, Paragonite?

Well. Not by much. He was still smirking as he remembered the look on Paragonite's face when she had finally figured out she was in over her head.

"Not to keep repeating myself," he began, drawing his sword out of the air with a light gesture, "But the stupidity kind of cancels out your ambitiousness. Weapon, let's go."

"Yes well, not like it was exactly the Four Seasons to begin with." Yes, it was a tired old joke, but it was more the point she was going after than a laugh. The rift had never been a welcoming place. Thought that seemed rather fitting. It left a person on edge.

The young woman looked at her General out of the corner of her eyes as he addressed her past mistake. Though unsurprised, it was still a black mark that she just couldn't seem to rub out. That in and of itself made it depressing.

"Yes well, it clearly takes one's own kind to recognize the familiarity of another person's actions I suppose. And, to be fair, I'd fought him before." she dryly huffed in Hematite's direction.

The Lieutenant's baton appeared in her hand, and she spun it around in her fingers. Her eyes followed the keen edge of the General's weapon as she quickly began to question how exactly this was going to pan out for her.

Her only logical conclusion, clearly, was 'not well'.

Again, she wasted no time. She'd never sparred with Hematite before, and was uncertain about his style. In fact, the only thing she'd ever seen him actually attack was, well...

He did throw himself at the rift door.

Hematite had nearly a good half foot of height on her. She was not much for strength, but she had a fair bit of speed on her and her idea was to get in close. His weapon was, yes, a blade, but she couldn't imagine him wielding it well in such close proximity to his own body, where she could drag her weapon up from below as she moved in.

"Then you really don't have an excuse, Heather," he joked back. But his expression grew serious again. "This isn't so easy any more. Especially for someone like you. If you can't teleport, you're going to have to be pretty damn good at either fighting, or running. And you aren't very good at that second thing, let's not kid ourselves here."

"So that leaves fighting."

He wasn't holding the sword the way she might have expected, One gloved hand was holding one of the loops of the blade like a handle, the entire thing diagonal in front of him. It was true a large sword sacrificed its speed, and therefore much of its deadly capability. But this sword had more than just one use.

"All you've got to do today," he explained, slowly, lazily, as if to deliberately provoke Paragonite, "is land one hit on me. Just one. And I'll cover your quota for the week. How about that? You can start any time, by the way."

There was a pause as the General chastised her for her failure. Although it was in jest, he wasn't wrong either. That little tidbit gnawed slowly at the back of her mind. The Lieutenant was gratefully able to ignore it as Hematite's expression changed entirely. She wasn't terribly used to seeing him appear so serious. Most of their encounters revolved around chewing out people they didn't particularly care for.

But it was also what she'd requested.

Deft fingers twirled the baton around. She'd spent years perfectly that particular skill, and it had it's uses beyond just looking pretty. The lazy drawl in his voice had the effect he wanted. He sounded bored. The hair on the back of her neck stood on end as her muscles tensed.

Without much though, she flew forward, rushing towards the General. The large sword was clunky and slow at best, and it'd be useless if she could get in close proximity to him.

She was quickly moving to make a pass at his ribs, the baton arcing in a spin through the air.

And it would have been a great strike, had the ribs still been there when it came down, as well as the rest of him. He'd teleported--

"I forgot to mention," the General's voice came from directly behind and slightly above her. Without warning, the flat of the metal blade slammed into the small of Paragonite's back in a horizontal line, pushing her away.

"The enemies you fight will always fight dirty."

"Ooph!' Paragonite wheezed out as she felt her body lurch forward from the weight and force of the blade. That was a bruise waiting to happen at this point. The Lieutenant growled lowly, the grip on her baton tightening and she listened to the sound of his voice grating into her ear.

She whipped around in her rage, thrusting the weapon forward, only again to be met with a laugh and a childish (though still painful) thumping of the broad side of the General's sword.

Again and again Para would run at him, and time after time he'd pull some trick out of his bag. A teleport here, a shadow youma there and at one point her face met the floor after she tripped over his blade.

Dusting herself off, she glanced over at Hematite. This was just not going well, and the somewhat smug and knowing look on his face didn't help her through it at all.

"Hrmph." She pulled back, pushing forward again. Hematite teleported one final time, and a devious smirk tugged at the corner of her mouth. Paragonite spun around on her heels, bringing the baton in to meet his right thigh in tandem with the sword pushing her away.

The Lieutenant reeled back, catching herself on one knee, and just grinned back at the General. It wasn't much of a hit.

But it was a hit

And that's what he'd asked for.

And then the battle was over. Hematite let go of the sword and it disappeared before gravity could take hold of it. His eyes moved from the baton to Paragonite.

"Better," he commented, but he wasn't being cold and analytical about it. He looked and sounded pretty relieved that she'd managed to land the hit. He offered her a hand to help her up from the stone floor. "You started planning at the end. Learning. That was good."

"But still, try not to get into any more fights with supers, will you?" he asked, with a tone of command in it. "Call GUARD or something. Otherwise I'll have to explain to General Scheelite why he finds his lieutenant splattered across the pavement next week."

Paragonite gratefully accepted his hand and pulled up from her knee. She couldn't help but laugh a little as he gave his commentary on their little sparring match. No, she didn't particularly find it funny, but for whatever reason, it was the only reaction she could muster.

Maybe he'd clonked her one too many times with his sword.

"Hmm, well yes. I suppose you can teach an old dog new tricks after all." she shrugged with a smile.

"Well, I won't make any promises I can't necessarily keep." she offered, her tone effectively leaving the humour from moments before behind. "But I'll do my best to keep myself from becoming part of the local graffiti." there was a long pause as she brushed herself off, readying to leave the rift.

Finally she looked up at the General, "Thank you, Hem." the words were quietly spoken. It wasn't often the Lieutenant asked for help, and he'd been there when she'd needed it.

She'd not soon forget it either.
