Avalon didn't particularly like being in space. She felt remarkably unsteady so far from Earth, from Arawn and Nimue and the chapterhouse on the clifftop. It was too high up, it seemed like an extremely immature thing to say but it was true; she couldn't even see Earth from where she stood, hands pressed to a window in Chronos's Castle. Originally she'd meant to go to find a few civilians to accost, but now she...
She pressed her hands harder against the window, her forehead too. Somewhere there had to be a small blue dot, somewhere there had to be Earth and oceans and she couldn't see it.
The auburn-haired girl let herself rock back on her heels. Wasn't worth agonizing over, not really. Other people didn't have that kind of reassurance. The civilians needed someone to advocate for them, needed someone to carry messages to people, and she sat agonizing over oceans when she could go home at any time...
Her heels clicked loudly against the floor, to be joined by what she guessed would be two other pairs. The green-clad Page stopped, tapping her fingernails against her thigh. "Oh. Valhalla Jupiter," she said, much less welcoming than in their original meeting. "Nice to see you." Was it just the situation driving her up the wall?...

Valhalla's mind was filled with more than he thought it was ever capable of being filled with. There was so much to do and not enough time to do it all. There was the problem with the Surrounding being infiltrated, and then still the problem with the civilians being there. And then youma were showing up more frequently...
He almost didn't even notice Avalon when he was making his way up the stairs with Babylon, searching for more mirrors to cover in hopes of keeping the DMC out of the Surrounding. But her greeting pushed all his worries away for a moment.
"Avalon," he greeted, too late to hide his surprise. He hadn't seen her at the Surrounding before, so he wasn't really expecting for her to show up then. "Hey, nice to see you too."
The Page of Jupiter glanced over to Babylon, who was helping him with locating mirror to either relocate or to secure, and who was (surprisingly) not arguing with him about something. At least not at the moment. It might have to do with the shock that apparently no place was safe from chaos that had them agreeing to work together.
"Have you two met before...?" he asked, curiously looking from the Page of Earth to the Squire of Mercury. "This is Avalon. Avalon, this is Babylon." If he was in a different mood, he would have been amused that their names ended the same...

Babylon would have waved, except his arms were full of sheets to cover mirrors with. Instead he shot the red-headed page of earth a friendly smile. "No, we've never met," he confirmed, "But it's a pleasure to make your acquaintance. I could see us working together, perhaps in a poem?" Valhalla had had him in a grim mood the entire trip over from Virgo and then some - Babylon would take humor wherever he could find it, even if it just meant stupidly pointing out that he and Avalon's names rhymed.
"Very pleased to make your acquaintance," he assured her, "All joking aside. Have you seen any mirrors?" He hefted the sheets in his hands, trying to shift them and keep them off the floor. "We're border patrol. Keeping out illegal immigration. The mirrors tend to let in a draft. It's not eco-friendly."
And there he'd gone and used all his good explanations at once. Babylon was disappointed in himself, but not entirely - he'd been thinking of them the whole time they'd been walking around Chronos outpost and just waiting for someone to ask. No one had, so of course he spat them out all at once at the first pair of ears. The least she could do was find him clever, though. He was just going to hope for that.
This room looked mirror-free, though. Babylon frowned. "Looks like our work's already done here," he said to Valhalla. "Fair Lady Avalon, would you like to come with us on our rounds? Sniffing out interlopers and blocking their invasion tunnels and keeping the goddamn communists out of Seoul?" He puffed up his chest on this last one, a little bit of Finn Beck sneaking into his voice.

She looked from Valhalla to Babylon and then back to the brunet Page as he spoke. He looked... frazzled, like he'd been doing a lot of work in a very, very short time. Like he hadn't had a stop to rest for a good amount of time. Whatever was bothering him, she wasn't sure she wanted to know... "I doubt it's really all that nice for you," she said. "What's going on? You look distressed." And puzzled, and a little bit dazed. But she wouldn't say that out loud; for some reason, she didn't mind trusting that Valhalla would tell her things as she needed to know them, if he knew them as well.
"It's nice to meet you," she said to the blond knight, giving him a sweeping look. The hair alone was enough of a reason not to like him, it was so disheveled in that hideously ironic way that reminded her of Finn. The sheets looked like they'd been grabbed off beds haphazardly, without care for whether they were convenient to carry... Probably they'd be able to move more of them if the two knights folded them up properly.
Then he started talking, and her eyes started to go progressively wider in horror. Because as he spoke, it became increasingly clear to her that only one mind was deranged enough to come up with that joke. Only one person would think that was clever, or funny. And that one person was...
No. No no no no no.
She would not accept Finn Derouen was better than her at being a magical knight.
"Finn," she said, putting her hands over her face. "It's you, isn't it. Don't lie to me, I know Finn Beck when I hear him. Oh, ********. Finn Derouen is better than me at being a magical soldier of justice."

Valhalla shot Babylon a very exasperated look, really wishing he would stop making jokes all the time and just focus on what they were doing.
He was about to open his mouth to explain what was happening in the Surrounding when... Avalon figured out who Babylon was. Wow, that was fast. Valhalla deflated rather quickly, staring in astonishment and in slight disgust. "You know each other then...?" he asked again, although it was obvious that they did. Well... Wow, didn't he feel like the third wheel. He did snort lightly in amusement at Avalon's comment about Finn being better than her. "You can say that again..." was mumbled under his breath as he took a few steps away from them, making sure they had each corner of the room checked and clear of mirrors.
"There's a group known as the Dark Mirror Court, Avalon," he said after a few moments. "Their leader, Ares, was consumed by Chaos and now seeks to turn everyone into members of her court. They can travel through mirrors, and that's why they're being covered right now."
That was the best explanation he could give in such a short amount of time. Nothing too long winded in case she was too distracted by Babylon to catch everything.

Babylon's face went stone-cold serious in a second. Only one person knew him by the alias Finn Beck, and that person was-
Babylon's index finger shot forward so quickly that the J'accuse was almost audible. "Thy foul villain," he pronounced, Elizabethan-like. "I callest thou by thoust's truest name. Thou art Tate Konstantin!" He dropped the sheets to the floor and stepped quickly over them, crossing the room in only a few paces to wrap the taller knight in a bear hug.
"You ******** b***h why do you get high heels," he asked, finding himself face to chest with her. Tate was taller than him under any circumstances, but as Avalon this was just getting ridiculous. Babylon glanced back at Valhalla, found that Valhalla was still also horrifically taller than him, and made a sour face. "That's just not fair."
"I'd say we know each other pretty well," added the knight, moving to pick up the sheets as well as his dignity off the floor. "Anyways, Avalon, you coming? We've got to keep all the civilians safe or else bad things happen."
Babylon shuddered involuntarily and passed her a few sheets. He'd seen that spider. He knew the siege was beginning.

She nodded to Valhalla and gave him a smile for his explanation. "Why not just turn them to the wall or break them," she asked, holding out her hands a bit. "Are they really that attached to these old things?" They weren't even that modern-looking, or... or clean, for that matter. She thought of the mirrors outside the room she was in, grimy and greasy. "Wouldn't they be neater if they just replaced them, rather than polishing them?"
Avalon scrubbed her hands together and then the knight-who-was-Finn made their relation loudly known. She gave him a viciously irritated look for a moment, then remembered it was Finn, and he was soft like a down pillow on a cool day. Probably he'd cry if she looked at him too irritatedly.
"Thanks for announcing it," she said, sourly. Who knew who was listening? At least she'd kept her voice down. Also, she was almost ninety-nine percent sure that Valhalla didn't know who she was and now he did. Although she didn't know if Babylon and Valhalla knew each other's identities... Well. She'd have to apologize later, maybe.
She accepted the sheets. "Well, let's go on that mirror hunt."
