A plop sounded as he dropped another fish into the large pile. Pulling himself out of the river, he shook his coat and eyed his work. There were more than enough fish to fill his belly, the rest he'd leave for someone in need, a struggling mother, a lost cub..there was always someone who could benefit from his left overs.
Though he never stuck around to hear the thanks, he was generally gone before someone could take a second look in his direction. Picking a large fish out of the pile, he went to work using the rough texture of his tongue to clean the scales away. This simple task left his mind to wander, to old aches and hurts, to betrayal and shame that only made his shoulders sag further.

This whole seeking thing was new to Windfola. She had been looking forward to it all her life, been waiting for the day when she would finally strike out to see more and learn more and be more, and finally she had gathered up her courage and stepped foot out of the Simbafutaji pride lands.
Already, she was missing her home dearly. It wouldn't be behind her for long, and she would always return with new information and knowledge, but it wasn't much reassurance in the face of her homesickness. The world was a vast land, after all. What if she got lost, never to find her way home? It was a risk, definitely a risk. But one worth taking.
There was a bounce in her step as she padded along, taking in everything new and overwhelmingly exciting. All the sights and sounds and smells spoke to her and made her almost want to become a cub again and romp about giggling. Which she would have done, if the sound of plopping hadn't caught her attention.
The lioness' ears perked, and her bright eyes scanned the area before coming to a stop on a lion emerging from the water. Ooh, and he had a ton of fish too - more fish than necessary for one lion, unless he had a voracious appetite. Windfola watched him curiously for a moment, until that curiosity got to be too much. She had to know what was happening - and after all, wasn't that the point of Seeking, to learn more?
Wandering over, she poked her head out into the clearing in which he sat. "Hello!" She said brightly, looking entirely excited. "I just wanted to ask why you had so many fish?"

He heard her, long before she'd spoke. Years of training hadn't been forgotten simply because he was a failure, but now instead he didnt attack when others came upon him, he simply stared at her.
"Whats left will be given to someone else in need." he replied, he had those deep, rich smooth tones of an older male, though there was a slight scratch in his vocals, an injury from long ago had damaged his vocals slightly.
"Would you like some?" He asked as he eyed her, she looked like she'd been taken care of properly most her life, maybe a pride lioness? It was more than likely.

Windfola hadn't much experience in life, but she recognized a kind soul when she saw one. Or, rather, she recognized a soul when she saw one, and she thought it kind no matter what. Some called it denial; Windfola called it faith. She was utterly convinced of the goodness in all living creatures. Sometimes, it was just a matter of digging deep to find it.
But this was most certainly an act of kindness, no digging required. Windfola had never before met anyone willing to share their hard-earned meal with complete strangers, let alone strangers that would never have the chance to give their thanks.
She made her way closer. "Oh, a gentleman, are you?" She said with an appreciative chuckle. This was quite unexpected, but call her opportunistic, she wasn't about to turn down a meal and a chance to learn more. "I would love some, thank you." Hunkering down near him, she reached carefully for a fish, and set about cleaning the scales off of its back.
"My name is Windfola," she added. "I'm taking a short trip out of my pride's lands to learn some more about the world. There's quite a lot I want to know, I've realized, so if I ask questions that seem to pry... that's really not my intention." She figured it would do them both a favor if she put that out there early.

"I wouldn't say I was a gentleman." He said with a shake of his head, he'd never been one of those, oh sure he could be suave and rub paws with the royals of the royals but deep down, he wasn't one of them and never had wanted to be.
Yuda knew what he was, and had no qualms about it. He was a warrior captain...well he used to be one, but the warriors blood still pumped in his veins. He wasn't anything but that..a useless warrior with no one to protect, or anyone to fight.
He watched her carefully, he didnt feel there was any threat from her. And as he silently scented the air, and kept a paw pressed to the ground, he was more than sure she was alone.
"You can call me Yuda.." He said after a long moment, it'd been a long time since he'd given anyone his name, fear that his shame had been spread around, he didnt need anyone to recognize him. "Questions are always to pry further into depths unknown, why else would you have to ask them if you already knew the answers you sought?" He shrugged his shoulders, and took a chunk out of his fish.

"And I would say you were," Windfola said with a small smile, glancing at him. He was giving himself too little credit where credit was due. As far as she was concerned, any creature willing to leave food for strangers was a gentleman. He just didn't know it yet. "I mean, only a gentleman would do fish for somebody he's never met and will never meet. It takes a good deal of generosity to do something like that, I think." Or passion, maybe. Either way, it was the mark of a good lion.
"Yuda?" She echoed through a mouthful of fish. Not a highly elegant practice, perhaps, but that was alright by her. "I like it." And it was true, she did, though there wasn't a specific reason why. Windfola seemed to like just about everything - traits, objects, characters. There was always some good to be found somewhere, she was sure, so everything deserved her appreciation.
"Into depths unknown yes," she agreed readily. After all, wasn't that why she was out here in the first place? "But into your personal life, no." She didn't need to know, and the last thing she wanted was to intrude or offend. "Unless you wanted to share, that is." She added with a wry smile. Life stories were always fun to hear.
