It was the fifth day now, and Raven had made her way to the only outpost she hadn’t yet been to, and was quite surprised that it was…lovely. Why hadn’t she come to visit here before? Had she just had no interest since this outpost really held nothing special to her inside of it? Sure, it was the home of a princess…but that meant little when you could factor in that Leo had lots of food, Virgo helped you heal, and Aquarius…had so many books…and she was sure if she stayed there long enough, she’d find some way to get out of this place…someday.
Well, that didn’t matter. What mattered was she was here now, and…and this was the last place she could look to find Jett. If he wasn’t here…well, she’d have to move on. Have to figure out a way to explain it to herself that he was dead…Eaten by some monster or something. If he was here…she was going to punch him. That was already decided long ago, and after she punched him, she was going to kiss him…then glue herself to his side until they got out of this place.
…She’d have to find some glue for that.
Raven took a deep breath, then nodded to herself, walking up to the doors of the outpost, letting herself inside. She wasn’t sure where to look in this place, but found her feet leading her towards the place where all of the civilians had sleeping bags set up. Ah, this must be where people were staying…Nope. No Jett in here.
She kept walking, going into a room that was full…of junk. But, some of it was really pretty. She walked deeper into the room, sitting down, beginning to shift through the things, distracted for the moment, the interesting objects masking her disappointment of not finding Jett in this outpost either.
She was sure reality would hit soon enough, however.

Jett had been charged with a task. A relatively simple task—all things considered: go play eye and ear. Standing around, looking inconspicuous—totally fine. And totally boring.
It wasn’t that Jett wasn’t trying to take this job seriously, it was just that he had so much energy—and nothing was happening. After meeting the Dark Mirror Court, Jett had felt enlightened—like he’d been given purpose. Like there was a reason for all of this space drama. He no longer felt like he was stuck, caught like a rodent in a shoebox—he felt like he was a part of something. And he knew things the other civilians didn’t. Hell, he knew things the senshi here, didn’t. He might not have had all the answers he wanted, but he had direction, and that was all he needed.
For a while after integrating back into the simple civilian life, he’d drifted from post to post, not really looking for anything. Everything seemed different. The senshi unnerved him, but only because of his new take on them. He’d never bothered to get close to any of them since he’d always sort of blamed them for all of this mess, and even now he was self conscious that somehow they’d find out about the meeting in the Mirror Pools but for sake of gathering information, he projected himself a bit more into the scene. He’d been to all the outposts for a while after getting back, though Chronos had eluded him for the longest. He’d never had any desire to be here until the idea struck him that maybe he’d find out something interesting.
Something interesting wasn’t supposed to include Raven.
He’d seen the girl when she first entered, though admittedly had slipped into the background so that he could observe her. He was interested to find her here—alone, especially, and looking so miserable. Hands in his pockets, he’d kept his distance and made himself a bit more aware of the outpost he’d previously neglected exploring. It was only when Raven stopped and sat down that he got bored. He hadn’t been able to figure out what she was doing in Chronos—she hadn’t gone to see anyone, hadn’t gone to get something. She certainly couldn’t have come here to play archeologist—and damage her nails? Oh, nonsense. From where he stood, he couldn’t exactly see what it was she was going through, though given the general disarray the outposts had been in when they’d first arrived, he couldn’t help but assume it was just a bunch of broken trinkets.
The room was quiet sans the noises from her rummaging, and after a few long seconds, he couldn’t stand it anymore. Propped against the doorframe, arms crossed over his chest, he resisted the urge to sigh. When he spoke, his voice wasn’t necessarily loud in the room, though it certainly stood out. “You know, there’s a certain age where you’re supposed to grow out of playing in the garbage, I think. For a girl that likes to act so grown up, you sure do act like a kid.”

Raven had been in the process of examining a small glass bottle, trying to figure out if it was just empty and trash, or if there was something invisible inside of it, when Jett spoke. The blonde let out a gasp, the small bottle flying into the air and turning over twice before landing on the floor with the tinkle of breaking glass. She hadn’t expected anyone to see her. Was she even allowed to be in here? Shoot. She was caught like a rat.
Though, that voice…
Raven hesitated, and then just slumped a little, glowering down at the broken bottle. Whoever was here sounded like Jett. She was almost afraid to turn around, afraid to be disappointed when it turned out to be someone else, some senshi or something, telling her that she wasn’t allowed to be in this room, and they were going to go lock her up in the dungeons forever. If it was Jett though…If it was, then that was just proof she had lost her mind completely. Completely and totally bonkers. Well…they were in space. What was to say she wasn’t already dead? There’s no oxygen up here…maybe this was just all some screwed up form of Hell…and she was being punished for…for being a cheerleader.
The blonde still hadn’t turned around, reaching out to poke at the broken glass, wincing as a small shard of it cut into her finger. Hm. If she were dead, would she…should she still be able to feel pain like this? Should it still hurt to get cut by a stupid little glass bottle? Ah. Was this a good time to be thinking about such things? The person in the room would be getting annoyed at her by now, she expected, though, she wasn’t sure it made any difference to her whether or not the mystery person was annoyed or not.
She let out an audible sigh, then straightened up, supposing she had stalled long enough. It really was time to turn around and see who her guest was. Very slowly, still holding her bleeding hand quite tightly, the blonde turned around, her eyes closed. When she opened them, she just stared for a few moments, before shaking her head, letting out a miserable laugh.
“Yup. I’ve lost it. Completely lost my damn mind.”
Jett was standing there, smug as always. Jett was just standing there. Raven stood, brushing herself off, managing to get a few specks of blood on her shirt and pants as she did so. “Well, I should think a ‘hello’, would have been a nicer greeting, Draven.” Her voice was cold and had an edge of anger to it. Why would he just be standing watching her? Why wouldn’t he have come to see if she was all right, see if she had survived the stupid spider attack, see if she was still alive.
He wasn’t real. He was a mirage, some desperate working of her mind, designed to help her cope with the loss of the real Jett. “Well, I suppose if you had done that, then, I wouldn’t have had such a lovely reaction to seeing you.” She walked over to him, now smiling an overly sweet smile. “Or the pleasure of this.” Her smile grew, and she drew her hand back, punching the side of his cheek as hard as she could, still so pleased that he had taught her the right way to punch.
b***h deserved it.

Holy Hell, Raven was ******** batshit. Her fist collided into Jett’s cheek with a force that surprised him. Sure, it wasn’t the worst he’d ever been hit—but he definitely hadn’t been expecting it. The blow itself wasn’t that strong, but the surprise knocked him a step back. Instinctively he uncrossed his arms and reached up to rub at the stinging flesh, mentally backtracking to try and find out what he’d done to piss her off that much. Sure, he hadn’t come in here, tears streaming down his face and thrown himself at her to rejoice the fact that they were alive and together again—but, come on. That had never been his style, and never would be. He was moderately happy to find her alive, sure. Happy enough not to be an a** about it? …Not quite.
His lip twitched in slight agitation as he recoiled and turned to face her, intent on giving her one chance to explain herself. She’d be lucky if he didn’t return the blow, but hitting a girl was going to cause attention, and he really didn’t want that. The heat from his cheek indicated it was probably going to start swelling soon, and unless he wanted a bruise, he’d have to pop into Virgo in a bit. “…I guess you were paying attention to those lessons. But your technique is still off. Really off. Is that how you’re greeting people these days?” he asked, voice clipped.

Raven just shrugged, shaking out her hand, which was stinging a bit from the collision with his face. “Yeah, I guess it is. Where the hell have you been? I’ve looked everywhere for you…” She looked away, then shook her head in almost disgust. “I thought you were dead, or eaten, or fell off the damn road or something. Why the hell were you such an a**? Scaring me like that. Hell, I’m still half convinced that you’re just something in my mind trying to keep myself sane.”
She took a step away from him, anger blazing in her eyes. “How did you get out? It seems like…you just disappeared or something. Why didn’t you come find me if you were alive? Did you just want to make me worry, Jett? Is that it?” She trembled now, then shook her head. “Did you bother thinking that people would be worried about you? Did you bother thinking about that, you a**?” Raven’s hands were drawn into fists once more and she looked away from Jett, glaring at the floor. “I’ve really…looked absolutely everywhere for you…”

“Jeez, Raven, chill out,” Jett grumbled; he hadn’t actually considered Raven’s feelings in all of this. He never thought of anyone before himself, so why would he now? Why should he change things now when things were working out so well for him? Sure, they were friends and all, but it hadn’t been that long since he’d seen her. He hadn’t expected them to notice he was gone—or that they’d miss him or anything. The way he saw it, Raven had plenty of friends to keep her distracted, so why the hell had she spent so long looking for him?
“It’s not like I made a goal to avoid you or something, do you really think that sounds like fun to me?”
…It kind of did. Not so much fun when you got hit, though.
“I just saw you a few minutes ago, so I came to see what you were doing here. Hell, I should have just left you alone if you were going to attack me. Are you happy to see me or not? Because I seriously can’t tell.” He was rubbing at his cheek, as if massaging it was going to dissolve the pain any quicker. “Why the hell were you looking for me if it was just to knock me one, anyway?”

The blonde looked up at him once more, shaking her head. “I’m happy to see you, yeah I’m happy to see you. Why wouldn’t I be? I thought you were dead. I’m completely happy that you’re alive.” And she was…she was just still..angry that he had taken so long to show himself to her. “Someone died…with that giant spider? Someone got squished…there was blood everywhere, and I just…thought you had died too. I was freaking out…” She moved over to him now, though hesitated.
“I’ve been looking for you since I got out of that damn place, I’ve been everywhere, and I kept thinking I’d find you…but…I guess I was giving up after I got here. We had never come here before…so I wondered why you’d be here. She glanced up at the male, her eyes still holding some anger in them. “I’m happy to see you…Jett, I’m going to glue you to my side, okay? I don’t’ want to think you’re dead again…so we have to find some super glue…so I can glue you to me…” She let out a shaky laugh as she said such stupid things. “Damnit. Sorry for hitting you…I just…was convinced you weren’t real, you know?”
It wasn’t really an excuse…but…It was something. She itched to kiss him now, now that she was sure he was real.

For a long moment, Jett stared down at Raven. A shiver ran down his spine at the thought of someone dying from the spider and he had the subconscious urge to scratch at the hand that had been pierced by one of the spines. He’d had so much on his mind recently that he’d almost entirely forgotten about the thing—and maybe felt a bit more sympathy for Raven. At least she had a legit reason for being worried—he was convinced she was just being a girl about everything.
“Not so sure I could handle being glued to you, Raven. Pretty sure your other friends’d be pretty pissed about that. They seem to like hanging all over you, anyway. What about everyone else?” That Raven hadn’t named the spider’s victim, he assumed it wasn’t someone they knew. “Darwin and Candice, they’re fine?”
--Not that he cared or anything, they could be dead all the same and he wouldn’t care. Probably. Well, maybe a little bit.
…Maybe he’d have missed Darwin’s antics a bit. And Candice was pretty good to look at.
“And you,” he added, not wanting to seem insensitive or unappreciative of her concern for him. “—You’re fine, too, right?”

Raven just shrugged at him, moving closer and wrapping her arms tightly around him. “Darwin and Candice lived through the spider attack. Do I know if they’re all right now? Nope. They could be dead for all I know. That was five days ago, Jett. They might have been eaten by a giant space salamander or something stupid like that.” She closed her eyes, resting heavily against the male, sighing. “I didn’t even get a scratch from that Spider…I guess I’m happy about that, but, doesn’t make for very good conversation.” She sighed once more.
“I really…was worried about you…More so then those other guys…they’re really…nothing, I guess. They’re cool, and nice. But, I don’t think I’d be beside myself with grief if any of them were run through with a spider’s leg…and lying in a pool of blood.” She shook her head then shivered. “She turned into sparkles, Jett…The girl that…died? She turned into sparkles. It was like some sick…movie…Then this new guy popped up, a new senshi or knight or something. I don’t know. But, he threw a slab of rock at the Spider and killed the stupid thing. “ She wasn’t very happy with that…she had wanted to take her anger out fully on the spider…but, she did hit it with her piece of marble.
Raven closed her eyes, resting against Jett once again. “Hey, you wanna be my boyfriend? I promise I won’t hit you again. Unless you die, I mean. I’ll hit you if you died. I’d be really pissed then.”

Raven had jumped from topic to topic that by the time she asked if he wanted to be her boyfriend, Jett was already a bit overwhelmed with trying to keep up. The lag in processing showed when he was silent for a few seconds after her speaking. Despite the fact that he’d instinctively wrapped his arms around her in a hug to comfort her, he wasn’t entirely sure how to take her request. Boyfriend? Did he want to be her boyfriend? They were fighting half the time anyway—and Jett suspected that she wouldn’t be asking if she had really thought this through.
Of course, he could understand her frustration with all of this—her friends missing, giant creatures attacking, watching someone die in front of her…That seemed like enough to make someone go crazy, sure. But he wasn’t crazy enough to indulge her. “Raven, you feeling okay?” he asked, placing the back of his hand against her forehead to see if she had a temperature. The action seemed tender and caring, even if he was using it just to buy time and try to figure out how he wanted to respond to her. “You look a little flushed. Do you need to sit down or head to Virgo or something?”

The blonde just sighed. “I feel fine, Jett…” She seemed grumpy, thinking his concern was just a distraction. “I really…feel fine…” All right, so that might have been a little bit of a lie. Her stomach was hurting a little, and her head was spinning. What was wrong with her? Why was she so upset over this? Or was she upset? Raven pressed closer to the male then sighed. “If you don’t want to date me…you can just say no, you big goof…”
Why had she been so worried about him? If he was just always going to be so cold…Mary was nicer to her than Jett was..maybe Raven should just go and stay with Mary…give up on Jett. Yeah. Like that would go over well. The very thought made the cheerleader pale and close her eyes, sighing. “…Maybe…I should sit down…I’m feeling…kind of…yucky now.” Yucky? When did she start using stupid words such as yucky? That…sounded like a two year old complaining about being sick. Raven was not a two year old, and she had a much better grasp on her vocabulary than just the word yucky. The blonde gave a groan, reaching up and cradling her forehead in her hand. “Jett…space is making me stupid.”
She was losing her mind every moment she stayed in this awful place.

“I’ll say,” Jett answered off-handedly. Jett had thrown punches with bigger guys for smaller things, and he hadn’t yet forgiven Raven for hitting him—no matter how much emotion or reason she had. “You want to sit down here or should we go look for a chair or something?” the male asked. There might have been worry for her in his voice; it might have just been his smooth way of talking. Whatever it was, he’d still wrapped his arm around her waist; he didn’t know exactly what ‘yucky’ entitled, but given that she was rubbing her head and acting weird, he wanted to be on the safe side and make sure she didn’t fall and hit her head. He didn’t doubt she’d be able to function if she lost any more brain cells.
Offering her himself as something for her to lean on if need be, Jett looked down at the cheerleader. “If it’s too bad, I could probably carry you to Virgo. Even though it looks like you’ve put on weight since you got here.”

Raven just sighed, resting against him and closing her eyes for a moment, before they snapped open and she jerked away. “What the hell, Jett? What do you mean I’ve put on weight…?” She glanced down at herself, moving around a little, poking her stomach. “You really think I’m fat? I’ve gotten fat? But…” What a disaster. No wonder he didn’t want to date her. Didn’t want to be with her. She was fat.
The feeling of ‘yucky’ only increased and she rested against the male once more. “You don’t need to carry me, Jett. I’m fantastic…but I am going to go to Virgo and lay down…I think I need a nap…” And a grapefruit diet for the next year. This just settled it. She despised space. It was dangerous, stupid, stuffy…and it made her fat.
Not to mention caused a lot of heartbreaks. Something she was growing tired of. If it wasn’t Jett rejecting her, it was her agonizing over losing him. No. No, she was really done with being here. “I’m ready to go when you are, Jett…” Her voice was low now, sounding so much more tired, with a hint of sounding depressed.

A soft laugh fell from his lips, as if he were genuinely amused. The lack of maliciousness implied true humor, and he looked down at her with an almost affectionate smile. “You’re not fat, Raven. Lighten up.”
Jett moved carefully, scooping the blonde up into his arms and holding her gently to his chest. “…And you’re not heavy at all, so just relax.” He planted a soft kiss atop her forehead and said, tenderly, “You’re a really sweet girl, I never knew.”
Standing up straight, he added—in a tone more characteristic of himself, “But if you puke on me, I’ll drop you so fast.”
Making sure she was comfortable in his arms, he didn’t give her the chance to protest or try to wriggle away; he didn’t mind carrying her at all—and she really didn’t feel that heavy (yet). Besides, it felt nice to have a body pressed so close to his—even if he wasn’t going to admit it.

She let out a squeak as he picked her up—she hadn’t been expecting that at all. No, not at all. But…he was holding her…this was nice. Her eyes closed, and she felt her face heat up as he kissed her forehead. Well…yeah. This just made it nicer. Raven let out a sigh, being reminded at why she had fallen for this stupid, ******** of a jerk.
It was because he was wonderful.
Or was, until he mentioned her puking. Well, whatever. He’d deserve it, she was sure. “Better not bounce me around then, Jett, or I’ll be sure to puke on you real good.” She was smiling now. She liked their banter, it was comfortable, sweet, almost. So long as he wasn’t calling her fat. That was crossing the line.
“I think I’ll nap now. Night, Jett. I’ll wake up and see you later.” She pressed closer to him, closing her eyes once more. If only she could stay like this forever. His chest was so warm, and the sound of his heart was so…wonderful.
She didn’t think she’d mind dying if she could stay like this forever.
