Well, this is the first time I've posted a story. This is a sort of back story of a character I've made, Michael Scarlet, the brother of Remilia and Flandre. This is a bit of a backstory for his first couple days in Gensokyo (So far, that is my plan. I may change in the future.)
I've broken the story up into blocks depending who's perspective it is from (One blocks will be focused on Reimu, one on Remilia, Sakuya, ect ect)
I wrote a better description earlier but Gaia kind of freaked out and signed me out as I hit post, and i'm too tired to remember exactly what I wrote.
Feed back is appreciated, but please, go easy sweatdrop
I applogise for any parts of the story that are dry, sensless, or don't make sense at all.

Summer was beginning in Gensokyo. The days have become longer and hotter, nights shorter and cooler. Everyone was rejoicing in the cold weathers leaving. One particular resident, however, was excited for another reason. A certain vampire was being visited by a sibling she had not seen in ages and was dying to see him once again. Michael Scarlet, the brother of the Scarlet Devil, was coming to Gensokyo.

“You have a brother?” Sakuya asked Remilia as she poured her tea. Remilia had just woken up from a nap. It was almost 8:00 pm and she was worked up and planning for her brothers arrival.
“Of course, haven’t I talked about him before?” Remilia replied as she took a sip. She cringed a little and looked at the cup, “A little more sugar please?”
Sakuya nodded and poured a couple more spoons full of sugar into her cup, “Not that I can recall. Maybe I mistook who you were referring to, confusing him with your sister.”
“Maybe,” she took a sip of her tea and exhaled, “Either way, I’ve been waiting for him to pay me a visit. I haven’t seen him in a while and it will be nice to catch up after such a long time.” She put her cup on the small plate in front of her.
“Is he like you?” Sakuya asked.
“What do you mean?” Remilia questioned.
“Is he a vampire like you, mistress?” Sakuya replied.
“Yes, but he has a copying ability. I was given the power to change fate, Flandre was given the power to destroy anything, and he has the ability to copy anyone’s power. He is very unoriginal to begin with, so it suits him pretty well.” Remilia said. She turned and faced out the window of her room. Light was still coming in through the glass, but in an amber light. The clouds hung still in the sky as if painted on a canvas.

“Aya, please get out of my way!” Reimu yelled as she walked down a street.
“But you have to see this! Remilia has a brother, and he’s coming HERE, TO GENSOKYO! Isn’t that amazing? I didn’t know she had a brother!” Aya rambled loudly to Reimu. Reimu had just finished shopping and was heading back to her shrine for dinner. She was having Suika and Marisa over for dinner, which was rare considering how busy she has been lately.
“You make it sound like he’s a celebrity or something. What’s so important about this guy anyway?” Reimu sounded un-amused.
“The mysterious brother of the Scarlet Devil finally showing up, how is this not big? We have all been lead to believe…” Aya began.
“By who exactly, you?” Reimu said in between Ayas’ headlining speech.
“…that Remilia has only one sibling, and that was Flandre. But now, that was proven wrong…” Aya continued.
“And why do I care?” Reimu said blatantly as Aya rambles on.
“And now we get to see someone else from the Scarlet family. I don’t know about you, but this is a great story. Everyone knows about Remilia, and when they find out she has a brother, everyone will want to know about it!” Aya jumped in the air and started hovering, flipping every which way in excitement, “I wonder what he’s like? Is he mean? Is he hansom? What kind of powers does he have?” Reimu had started walking faster to avoid Aya’s barrage of questions she had no answer to or interest in.
“Whoever he is, it doesn’t sound like he needs so much publicity, nor does Remilia. The last thing that brat needs is unnecessary attention.” She sighed and continued walking.
Aya floated down in front of her, “Where ya goin?!” she yelled in Reimu’s face while upside down.
Reimu yelped, jumped back in surprise and fell, dropping the bag of groceries. She rubbed her head and looked up at Aya, “You idiot! Look what you’ve done. You almost ruined all the food!” She stood up quickly and took a couple amulets from her sleeve, “If you don’t stop bugging me, I’m going to beat the living day lights outa you! You got it?!” she yelled in a harsh manner. Passersby looked at them strangely as they walked. Aya was stunned and wide eyed at Reimu’s threat.
Aya became silent, “Alright, if you say so.” She finally said, and flew off.
Reimu watched as Aya disappeared into the clouds. She sighed and picked up that bags she had dropped. People still looked at her strangely as they passed. She just shook her head and continued her way back to the shrine.

A train made its way along the side of the mountain, steam rolling off the stop like water off the shingles of a roof and disappearing into the sky. A man with a dark red duster coat, long blond hair and a black fedora sat with his right leg on top of his left knee and his head leaning on his left arm which was resting on the window. His eyes were closed until the train turned around the mountain into the sunlight. He opened his red eyes and stared off into the town. His eyes darted from side to side as he took in the sight of Gensokyo. “Well, looks like I’m finally here. It’ll be nice to finally see you again,” he smiled, showing his fangs, “Sister.” He stood up, expanding his bat wings, and walked out of his cabin.

“Sakuya.” Remilia called.
Sakuya walked into her room and put her hands together near waist, “Yes Mistress?” she replied softly.
“Michael’s train should be arriving soon, I would like it if you were to meet him there and escort him to the mansion if you could.” Remilia ordered as she looked out the window in her room.
Sakuya bowed, “Right away.” And left the room, closing the door behind her.
“Please hurry,” Remilia said, as if Sakuya was still in the room, “Him and I have much to discuss.”

The sun was just about set over the trees as the train grinded to a halt. The sparks from the tracks sprayed the ground as a loud screeching noise filled the air. The trees rustled from passing winds. Sakuya stood at the landing with her hands clasped together near her waist politely. The train finally halted, followed by a large hissing sound from the engine. The train tooted, then silence. Sakuya stood with anticipation, wondering what Michael might look like. The door to one of the passenger cars opened. The man in the red duster stepped out of the car and jumped down the landing below. He held his fedora to his head as he looked down. He raised his head up and looked around at the almost deserted railway station. His head turning stopped when he saw Sakuya standing by herself. He tilted his head slightly in confusion, wonder whether or not she was the person that he was going to meet to bring him to his sister. Sakuya stepped up and broke the silence, “Michael?” She asked.
The man tilted his head back upright, “Yes?” he responded.
Sakuya nodded and walked up to Michael, “My mistress has ordered me to bring you to the mansion.”
Michael smirked, “Is that right? Alright then.”
Sakuya smiled a little and turned. “Wait.” Michael said before she started walking. She turned her head around slightly and looked at him, “May I have your name?” He finished.
Sakuya turned around and put her hands back together near her waist, “Sakuya, Sakuya Izayoi. Pardon my rudeness, but my mistress has been expecting your arrival all day and I don’t think she’ll be very happy if I hesitate to bring you back to her.”
Michael smiled, “Sakuya Izayoi, flowering night, fits well for a woman of your beauty.”
Sakuya’s smiled faded and turned into a violent blush, “T-thanks, I appreciate that compliment, but we should get going.”
Michael snapped back into his monotone face and tipped his hat over his eyes to cover his embarrassment, “Right, my apologies.”
They started walking away towards Scarlet Devil Mansion. Aya hovered high above and started taking photos of the newly arrived visitor. She smiled as she took picture after picture of Gensokyo’s newest resident.
“So Miss Izayoi, how long have you worked for my sister?” Michael asked.
“A very long time, why do you ask?” She replied.
“No reason, just curious I guess.”
It was silent for a while. “How long ago was it since you last saw your sister?” Sakuya asked.
Michael put his finger to his chin, “I would say 290 years or so.”
“And where have you been living all that time?”
“I’ve had many lives. I just recently graduated again from High School in the United States…” Michael began.
“So you’ve been living in the human world?” Sakuya asked.
Michael nodded, “Powers or not, humans are still fun and exciting. They don’t always make reasonable decisions, but the things they come up with are just extraordinary. So much technology and gadgets, I have one with me right now actually.” He reached in his pocket and pulled out an iPod Touch with a pair of black head phones wrapped around it.
Sakuya turned her head and looked at him, then at the iPod, “What’s that?
“It’s called an iPod Touch. You can put music on it and listen to it whenever you want to. It also has games you can buy and play whenever you like. It’s pretty neat for when you don’t have much to do.”
That is interesting. What else do they have?” How is that possible?"Sakuya asked.
"Humans have discovered how to put things into a series of 1's and 0's so machines can decode them and make them into different types of things, like pictures, games, and music. Of course it doesn't show up as numbers."
Sakuya's face twisted into confusion, "I don't quite understand."
"Neither did I at first, but understanding it isn't its purpose. It provides entertainment for the user."
"That's amazing. What else do you have?"
Michael put the iPod back in his pocket and pulled out a cell phone, “This is called a cell phone, it allows you to talk with people over long distances. I can’t talk to them here though, there are no towers for the signal to bounce off of.”
Sakuya looked at the phone, intrigued.
“They have developed so much; it’s amazing what they can do with just brain power and a little hard work.” Michael continued.
“It makes this place seem so old fashion, doesn’t it?” Sakuya asked.
“A little, but I’ve heard a lot of extraordinary things have happened here as well.” Michael replied.
“I guess you could say that. A lot of interesting characters have passed by and cause some trouble, but they are put in their place after the shrine maiden gets at them.” Sakuya said.
“Shrine Maiden?” Michael asked.
“Reimu Hakurei, she is one of the shrine maidens here. If anything unusual happens here, she is usually the first one to investigate. She can be bit of a bother sometimes.”
The two started walking into the Forest of Magic. A group of youkai were fluttering about. They saw Sakuya and Michael walking alone and decided to follow silently.
“I would think so.” Michael said, looking over his shoulder, “Does it feel like we are being followed?”
Sakuya stopped and turned around, “It does, doesn’t it. Probably just some youkai wanting to cause mischief. Just ignore them and they’ll go away.”
“Well, just in case…” Michael took a spell tag from his pocket and threw it into the air. The spell tag starting folding itself midair into an origami crane. The crane fluttered its wings and flew away. Michael closed one eye and stood silent. Sakuya looked at him the crane in wonderment. Michael made eye contact with her for a second, then looked away and blushed. He regained himself and opened his eye, “Just as you said. Nothing to be worried about. Michael said. Suddenly, A large wave of red orbs then started flying out from the trees suddenly, “GET DOWN!” Michael yelled as he dropped to the ground. Sakuya ducked down and looked around. Michael put his index and middle finger to his lips and started saying something under his breath. An orb of clear hexagon surrounded him and Sakuya. Michael stood up, the shell deflecting the orbs. He then reached his hand into his trench coat and pulled out a long, red bladed sword that had silver wings at the guard. He swung the sword and a beam of red energy spurt out, cutting down trees and dispersing the red orbs. The wave of orbs stopped and Sakuya stood up.
“What did you just do?” Sakuya asked, surprised at what she just saw.
“Just a simple blade attack,”
Michael put his sword back under his trench coat, “I just transferred my energy through the blade into the air in the form of a wave.”
Sakuya nodded, trying to understand. She turned back towards the mansion, then looked at Michael, “Shall we get going then?”
Michael nodded and they restarted their journey.
Michael turned to her, "Are yoiu alright Ms. Izayoi?"
Sakuya exhaled mildly, "I'm fine. Thank you."
Michael looked back into the trees, "Do they always attack strangers?"
"Not always, they just like to cause trouble some times." Sakuya answered.
Michael sighed, "Well that's not very nice of them now was it."
"I guess it isn't. We should get going." Sakuya said.
Michael nodded and they continued their journey.

(*Authors Note* I need to rework this part)
Reimu slid open the door to the shrine where Marisa and Suika were sitting on the floor waiting, “Finally. I’m hungry as hell and you’re deciding to take your sweet time.” Marisa said in an annoyed tone.
“You’re lucky I’m even doing this at all!” Reimu said as she threw the bag of food at Marisa, “Plus Aya wouldn’t stop talking about this Michael person.”
Marisa caught the bag before it hit her in the face. “Who’s Michael?” Suika asked.
“I don’t know, Remilia’s brother is what Aya said. She was making a big deal about it like he was a celebrity or something.” Reimu replied and sat down next to the two.
Marisa set the bag of food on the table and opened it up, “I didn’t know that Remilia had a brother.”
“Neither did I.” Suika chimed in.
“Why does it matter? Another vampire with a narcissistic attitude is the last thing we need, and I swear if he causes any trouble, I’m giving him a tan.” Reimu said. She took out a jug of grape juice and poured a cup for Marisa, then herself. She took out a just of sake and poured a cup for Suika.
“I don’t know about you, but I want to meet him.” Marisa said as she took a swig of grape juice.
“What, why?” Reimu asked.
“I think he would be an interesting person. I mean, he’s probably older than Remilia, so he’s probably more mature. And since he hasn’t been living in Gensokyo, he must have been living in the human world, so he must have some stories, right?” Marisa said.
“And maybe he’s cute!” Suika added.
“Even if he was or if he did, he doesn’t need this much attention.” Reimu continued her argument.

Sakuya and Michael walked out of the Forest of Magic and arrived at the front gate of the Scarlet Devil Mansion. Meiling was awake and looking off in another direction. “Good to see you actually doing your job.” Sakuya said jokingly.
Meiling looked towards Sakuya and smiled, “I’m not really that tired today for some reason.” She looked at Michael and went silent, “Who’s this?” she asked.
Michael stepped forward and looked Meiling in the eye, “My apologies, I haven’t yet introduced myself.” He closed his eyes, put his right hand on his left rib and bowed, “I am Michael Scarlet, brother of Remilia and Flandre.” He leaned up right, “Might I ask for your name?”
Meiling stood straight up and saluted, “I am Hong Meiling, faithful gates keeper of the Scarlet Devil Mansion!” She said excitedly.
“It’s a pleasure to meet you Miss Meiling.” Michael said politely.
Meiling went to her normal stance, “And it’s nice to meet you Mr. Scarlet.”
Sakuya opened up the gate and looked at Michael, “Shall we go inside.”
Michael looked at her and nodded, then looked back at Meiling, “Will you be joining us for dinner?” he asked.
“Yes I will!” she replied.
“Alright, good.” Michael said and followed Sakuya through the gate.
“So that’s what I have to put up with every day.” Sakuya said with a sigh.
“What’s wrong with that?” Michael asked.
“She usually sleeps through the day, letting a mess of strangers I have to deal with into the Mansion, most of the time it’s the shrine maiden or her friend, the witch. Either way, it’s still a bother.” Sakuya explained.
“Are they always causing trouble?”Michael asked.
“Not always. Sometimes Reimu comes to visit the mistress and keep her company. The witch, however, likes to steal our book from the library. Patchouli doesn’t take too kind to people taking her books.” Sakuya explained.
“Patchouli?”
“She’s our main magic user. Quite a skilled magician actually, she can hold her own. She has bad asthma though, so it sometimes inhibits her fighting.”
“I wish my sister would have told me that. In the human world, people that have asthma carry around these things that stop asthma attacks, I think that might help her too.”
“I guess so.” Sakuya put her hand on the door handle and opened the door. A giant mass of red energy came from inside the house and was headed straight towards Michael.
“What a warm welcome.” Michael joked and jumped out of the way. The red mass hit the ground behind him and dissipated. Michael got up quickly and drew his sword. Inside, he saw Remilia glide down slowly to the ground with the Spear of Gungnir in her hand.
“It’s so nice to see you again, after all this time.” Remilia said, smiling. Michael stepped forward and stood still. Remilia stood for a second, then her spear disappeared and she lunged at Michael. Michael clenched his sword and spread his footing a bit. Remilia jumped and wrapped her arms around his waist, hugging him tightly, “You haven’t written, visited or anything. I was worried, I missed you big brother!” she said, crying. Michael raised his hand, not sure what to do. He dropped his sword and embraced his sister tightly.
“I’m sorry sis, I didn’t know where to find you,” He put his hand on her head “But I promise that will never happen again.”
Remilia sniffled, “Promise?” she said looking up at him.
Michael smiles and wiped Remilia’s tears off her face, “I promise.” He said quietly.
Remilia dug her head into his stomach. Sakuya couldn’t help but smile at the sight. Remilia let go, stepped back and wiped the tears from her eyes, “I think we should have a dinner party celebrating Michaels arrival, don’t you agree, Sakuya?”
Sakuya nodded, “That sounds like a wonderful idea, mistress.”
Michael looked around the mansion, “Where is Flandre? He asked.
Remilia looked at Michael, “She’s in the basement. We don’t let her out much because she always seems to cause trouble.” She explained.
Michael frowned, “Can we go see her?”
“Of course, follow me.” Remilia said and started walking, Michael following after her.
“I should probably get started on dinner.” Sakuya said to herself, and disappeared.
PostPosted: Sat Oct 08, 2011 5:21 pm

Marisa patted her stomach, “Wow Reimu, that was delicious~ze!”
“Mhmm, I agree!” Suika added.
“Thanks, I used a new herb that Remilia gave me. I’m glad you liked it.” Reimu replied, scratching the back of her head nervously.
“Tell the bloodsucker to give you more!” Marisa said, stretching her arms.
“Alright, I will.” Reimu said. She grabbed everyone plate and stood up. Suddenly, Aya burst through the door.
“I GOT PICTURES!” She yelled.
Reimu looked annoyed, “I swear, if you’re talking about who I think you are…”
Aya had stars in her eyes, “I GOT PICTURES OF MICHAEL SCA-“she was interrupted by Reimu pushing her out the door and slamming it hard. She sat back down and crossed her arms.
Marisa looked intrigued, “Pictures of him? I have to see them!”
Reimu looked at Marisa with the same annoyance as she did Aya, “Are you serious?”
Marisa hopped up, “Well, it’s a lot more interesting than just sitting here, I can tell you that!”
Reimu sighed, “Whatever, do what you want I guess.” She said with little enthusiasm.
Marisa walked towards the door and opened it. Aya was standing near the door still with 5 pictures in her hand. “Well, whataya got?”
Aya picked out the first one, “This one is him getting off the train, you can’t really see his face yet.”
Marisa looked at the picture closely trying to get a good look, “Well he certainly likes the color red, da~ze.”
Aya pulled out the second picture, “This is him walking with the maid, still can’t see his face.”
Marisa had a smug smile, “Ohoho, I recognize that look, he likes her.”
Aya looked at Marisa confused, “How can you tell?”
“See how his mouth is?” she pointed to it on the picture.
“Yeah, what about it?”
“He’s trying to keep a smile inside, ze. The muscles around his mouth tensed up since the last picture.”
“I guess you’re right. Good eye.” Aya complimented.
Reimu looked at the ceiling with a tired look, then she snapped back forward, “I need to take the dishes.” She said under her breath as she got up with plates in hand.

Remilia and Michael had reached a large metal door in the basement of the mansion, “She’s been excited to see you again. She really missed you.” Remilia said.
“I missed her too…” Michael replied with a sorrowful voice.
Remilia looked at Michael with saddened eyes, “So did I…”
Michael looked at her and nodded, “I missed you both. It was torture being away from you for so long.”
Remilia looked back at the door, “It wasn’t easy on us either, her especially.” She put her hand on the door knob.
Michael shook his head and smiled, “Well, we are together again, so there is no need to be sad anymore.”
Remilia nodded and smiled, “You’re right.” She took a deep breath, “Well, let’s go see her.” She turned the door handle and the door opened with a creek.
Flandre burst from the room and tackle hugged Michael at the waist, “BROTHER BROTHER BROTHER, I MISSED YOU BROTHER!” she yelled happily as she tightened her grip. Michael hugged her tightly.
“My sister, it’s good to see you again.” Michael said calmly.
Flandre let go and looked up at him with a smile, “I’ve been waiting for so long big brother, I almost thought you weren’t coming!”
Michael kneeled down and got eye level with her, “I’ve spent every waking moment trying to find you both. Now, have you been good? Eating right? You haven’t been causing your sister too much trouble, have you?”
Flandre stretched her arms behind her back and turn a little, still looking at him “Of course big brother. I’ve been really good. I’ve been doing everything you’ve told me and I haven’t gotten into trouble.”
Remilia looked at her sternly, “Except the times you steal my cake.”
“That’s ‘cause you never bring me sweets.” Flandre pouted.
“That’s because you get too hyper if I do.” Remilia said crossing her arms.
“No I don’t!” Flandre argued.
“Oh really? What about that time you ran rampant through the mansion breaking everything?” Remilia responded.
“That wasn’t my fault, I just hadn’t had my exercise.” Flandre looked away from them both.
Michael stood up, “Hey hey hey, come on now. We should be happy, we are all together again. Come on, let’s go upstairs.”
Flandre looked at Remilia, then up at Michael, "Alright." She said with a smile.
Remilia nodded and started making her way back towards the stairs. Michael looked at Flandre and extended his hand. Flandre took and they both followed their sister back upstairs.
