Beloved Stargazer

It was a chance encounter that had changed General Fluorite's plans for her evening - initially she'd set to gather as much energy as she could cram in the few hours she had to aid those launching attack attempts on the surrounding. She had only barely gotten started when she'd met Jarosite, and her plans shifted.

The boy needed training. That, she could do, and especially with the threat of a grand battle looming in the horizon. They all had to be as prepared as possible for what had to come - from the freshest lieutenant to the most experienced general.

An hand reached for his shoulder and the two blinked out of existence, coming into subspace, and from there, Fluorite started to walk down to the rift - it was her favorite training space, really. No senshi to interrupt.

Youma interruptions were pretty much part of the training routine.

"Show me your weapon ?" She asked him. "I know it's probably... not that great. It's okay. It's pretty much official negaverse history that Lieutenant Fluorite had the suckiest weapon of all the poor lieutenants." She grinned. With her hood down, she seemed much younger and cheerful than how she'd been when Jarosite first saw her. "Just means we'll get you good on hand-to-hand until you get something decent."

Jarosite had not exactly been expecting to meet her on his energy collecting patrol. Actually, he'd been hoping to not meet anyone, Negaverse, Senshi or Knight alike, on his patrol that evening. He was still shaken up from pulling that woman's star seed (an object he kept with him and often pulled out to look at) and the whole deal with the General-King. And yet somehow. He was in the Rift again, walking with the purple haired General he'd just met, willing his picks into existence.

She seemed... more laid back than even his own General was. He didn't feel that terrified in her presence, even though she was far above his rank. The two blue picks winked into their plane of being and he held them out for her in one hand.

"They're over sized guitar or bass picks. They don't do much except cut cheeks when I punch," he said, surpressing a small sigh. "I actually fight more with my boots than these things. An... ex-girlfriend of mine once showed me the power of using your legs... broke one of my kitchen chairs to do it... but.. ah.. sorry. I don't usually... ramble this much..." This time he did let out a sigh. Too much stress....

Jarosite's judgement of her wasn't completely off-base, but also wasn't completely correct. Fluorite certainly could be rather harsh and demanding, but she saw no need to rule with fear unless it was needed - mostly because it wasn't in her nature at all.

She could be very scary - she just saw no reason to be, right now.

Of course, if they'd known who each other was, under the uniform, they might have both been surprised - same school, same grade, even.

Fluorite eyed the guitar picks curiously. "Hey, that's still better than what I had. Try ******** someone s**t's up with a playing card and get back to me."

No, it didn't look like she was joking at all.

"You could try putting them in between your fingers, points up. Kinda like a brass knuckle, through getting them to stay here might be a problem..." She shrugged, and stopped in the middle of what looked like an arena, stretching a bit. She let the ex thing fly - through she hoped he wouldn't go off-tengent too often. He had to focus and learn, after all.

"You see, thing is, fighting hand to hand is never really a wasted skill. Even with a better weapon, you could end up disarmed, and not have the time or energy to summon your weapon again. And if you only know how to fight with your weapon when that happens ? You're boned."

Yep. Fluorite stopped and stood still for a moment, looking him over. "Hit me. Don't give me s**t about hurting me or not hitting girls, the senshi are full of girls my age." Sounded like there was a precedent here. "Just hit me."

He listened carefully, chuckling softly at the comment that she'd used a playing card. Okay, his were better than that, thankfully. He looked around the arena for a moment before turning his attention back to Fluorite. Jarosite blinked at her for a moment when she said to hit her. He eyed her for a moment. He said nothing in response, hands balling into fists as he shifted his weight to the left.

He snapped his right leg out at her, aiming just above her hip line. She hadn't specified with what he was to hit her with, so he didn't the thing that came naturally to him, kicking. Steeltoed boot flew through the air and he wondered if he'd actually hit her.

He damn well tried to anyway.

Fluorite waited, unmoving, muscles tense but not quite in a true battle stance. She wanted to see what he could do first, before she fought him proper. Having a better sense of what Jarosite knew and what he needed to work on would make sure she didn't accidentally harm him too much.

There was always some pain in battle, through. Pain was a good motivator.

His kick came and one arm snapped to block the boot, gloved hand closed around his ankle. "Not bad, though doing this leaves you off-balance. An experienced fighter will take advantage of it, and you need to be prepared."

She simply let go of his foot then. "You want to hit the stomach when you kick like that. You've got a nice strength going for you already - a good hit will send someone down, since the senshi never wear armor. Some knights do, but they are a little rare in the first rank."

If he tried to take on anything higher than a normal senshi or a page on his own, he probably deserved to get his a** kicked a little before someone came to save him. "Damage as a lieutenant isn't really... important. Your survival is. You want to get out of a fight as well-off as you can be, with your energy quota intact - knowing where to hit help with that."

"Now kick me again. Aim a little higher."

Jarosite nodded, taking a moment to think. His first kick had been the highest he could actually go if he kept his knee straight on his standing leg. He set his eyes on her waist, just under her rib cage. The lieutenant grunted as he swung his leg up at her. His standing leg bent in the effort, trying to get extra height.

Survival was key according to the General. He somewhat already knew that, during his few encounters with the senshi (one of which had ended up with him being tag teamed by them). Survivability first, knocking them out second. Okay, he could do that. And make them hurt in the process.

It also helped that she knew of quite a few high ranks that were basically watchdogs - she tended to do that, now.

Hell, any excuse to beat up a senshi was a good one as far as she was concerned.

She let him hit, actually, this time around - his foot collided with her midsection armor, making her flinch a bit in reaction, legs shifting on instinct to absorb the energy of the blow. With his boots, there probably would be no harm down to either party.

"Yeah, just like that !" She said, cheerfully. "You want to get them down, or knock the air out of their lungs... Anything that can buy you a few seconds, really. These few seconds could end up saving your life down the line."

She settled back in her initial position. "Dodging is also important. The senshi, and even those knights, well, they aren't going to leave you much of a chance. Even if they pretend to be benevolent... It's probably a trick. You need to be just as good at taking a beating than at dishing it. Even if you can't dodge, you can move in a way that makes it so you get hit elsewhere - somewhere less damaging."

Proof of concept - her fist went flying at him. She was aiming to his shoulder on purpose, and holding back some of her strength - she wasn't out to wreck him, after all. She'd seen her brother snap a senshi in pieces with a few well-placed blows, and she knew she was now stronger than he was.

He barely had time to blink and jerked to the side. The punch hit the edge of his shoulder and rolled off of it. It off balanced him and he fell on his a**, having not expecting it.

Jarosite rolled his shoulder. Okay, so he'd expected she was going to attack him somehow but not with a punch thrown to his shoulder. He got by on making sure senshi were far away from him and being able to use his long legs to his advantage.

He wasn't used to having people up close.

"Okay... seems I need to work on dodging close ranged, ne?" he said, pushing himself to his feet.

Nice reflexes. There was a good base here, it was just a matter of working at it until it became second nature. Well, this was what Fluorite was here for - not only today, but whenever he felt he needed it.

"Right. There is no way that you're going to be able to keep every opponent at distance all the time. It's fine to have a preferred fighting style, but you also need to learn how to get out of situations that arn't to your advantage."

She talked even as she spoke, aiming a kick to try to knock him off his feet, wanting to see how good he was at recovering when he was thrown off-balance.
