Clover had gotten up that Friday and gotten ready for two classes she had that day. She didn't mind the Difference Agent the Dark Arts class though she didn't like Potions. Not that she was bad at Potions, it was just down in the dungeons where it was dark and windowless. Not that it mattered today since it was raining anyway. Once the two classes where over she ate lunch and headed up to the Hufflepuff common room.

She figured she might as well get some homework done for the week before she had to be in class the next week. Since more people would be going to the Library or somewhere else she figured it would be nice and quite in the house common room. "Looks like I was right." she said and went over one of the tables and dropped her book bag next to it.

She went upstairs to get the homework for her other classes as well since it was there. She got the other books from the chest at the foot of her bed before going back down to the table where her bag of books where. Clover grunted and opened the fist book. It happened to be History of Magic. "Lets see..." she said as she flipped though the book. The fact that the History teacher talked so dully it was amazing if anyone even knew what the assignment was. "And I like history... but lessening to the professor talk makes history more boring then it needs to be." she said rolling her eyes and uncorked her ink.

Moa jumped a bit in her chair when the other girl sat down at her table. She was easily recognizable as someone in her own house (though that was beyond obvious since they were in the Hufflepuff common room) and her own year. And while Moa didn't know her name, being horrible with them, there was no way she would not have known who the girl was. With her red and green hair, always meticulously braided, Moa would have to have been blind to never notice her.

"Uh, um.." Moa bit her lip and watched the girl leave down the hall to the bedrooms. She grabbed her quill, which had fallen on the floor, and stared at the booksack that was leaning against one of the chair legs. While she could tell her apart by sight, Moa really didn't know anything about the personality of the girl, or any of her roommates, save that one of them snored. Perhaps this one liked company when doing homework? Well, she didn't suppose she provided very good company, but there wasn't really another option. Moa would try her hardest, then, to not be a horrible desk-mate.

She prepared herself to say hello when the other girl got back, calming her nerves and sucking in a lot of air, but she only managed to choke a bit, and remained quiet when the girl returned.

"Ohh.." She muttered to herself in defeat, and watched out of the corner of her eye as the girl organized her things and got started on her work. Moa was pretty thankful of any distraction by now.

When Clover put her ink down she noticed that it wasn’t the only one on the table. She followed it up to it’s owner a fellow first year Hufflepuff. ”Oh. I’m Sorry.” she said oddly, mostly because she felt bad that she hadn’t seen the girl when she put her stuff down to begin with. ”I didn’t know there was someone here already.” she added.

The girl had blond short hair and honey brown eyes. Though the girl wasn’t one that stood out from the crowd. She had one of the other beds in the same room as hers and hardly ever took notice of her. It made Clover feel a little guilty but at the same time she smiled at the girl. Something told Clover that this girl was still just a bud hiding her beauty but that just meant once the girl found her ground she would really shine. Clover hoped that she would see that day, though it was possibly unlikely that Clover would see it.

”I’m sorry, I don’t think we officially met yet, I’m Clover Heartwel. It’s nice to meet you. I can go to a different table if you want me to.” she said though she really didn’t want to get up. She figured it was about time to introduce herself to the girl even if it wasn’t on the best terms meeting wise.

Moa's eyes widened at the look the other girl sent. Since the girl hadn't noticed Moa, she was beginning to think that she would remain invisible. There was a low, nervous laugh.

"O-oh, no.. no problem." She waved her hand a little bit, though her wrist didn't move off the table. It was fine, everything was fine. Moa choked back more awkwardness and swallowed hard. As Clover introduced herself, Moa could feel herself, trying to be as casual as possible, begin to smile, but it shook and she wasn't sure she would have like to see it on her face. She feared it must have looked like a grimance, but she really was trying hard!

"N-no, it's fine. Please, stay. It's, uh, really, no problem. I'd, um, I'd like the company ah-anyway. My name is, um, Moa." She smiled once more, though it felt much more normal than the last one. She really didn't feel like she was making much of a good impression at all.

Moa bit the inside of her cheek and looked from her homework to Clover's. Both of them history, though Moa's was partly done. She hadn't managed to finish it yesterday. "S-so.." Moa stopped herself, coughed a bit, and tried again.

"S-so, um, H-history of Magic?" Another shakey grin. Really, what was she trying to acomplish by this? That isn't a good way to start a conversation of any kind. Moa tried to shrink a bit, and looked sideways at her paper.

Clover heard a low laugh and the way the girl stuttered, it was apparent that she was shy. Clover was actually amazed at how the girl was doing her best to not be shy. When she said that Clover could stay and introduced herself as Moa, Clover was relieved that she didn’t have to get up.

Moa was fidgeting it made Clover wonder if it was because she was sitting there. She looked down at her book and then at Moa’s ”Yeah History of Magic.” she said with a nod. ”You too huh?” she asked though it was apparent that was what Moa was working on to.

Clover chuckled ”My Grandma says that it’s best to know one’s history. Though history of magic isn’t as exciting as different history stories.” she said flipping her book pages. She then looked up at Moa, ”What do you think Moa?” she asked with a smile. Actually wondering what Moa thought about it.

Moa was actually surprised Clover had responded. She didn't think it was going to be an interesting enough conversation for the other girl to waste her time on. Her mouth opened a little as Clover laughed. Had she said something wrong? But, she kept talking, so... maybe not? Moa watched her desk-mate and picked up her quill, brushing the softness against her far cheek.

Her grandmother sounded interesting, then again, everyone's did. From her own experience, grandmothers were nice, and often gave out good stories and delicious cookies. "Oh." Did she really want her opinion?

"I, um, actually think that, ah... that history of magic is, um, kinda fun." She sputtered a bit when the feather ends got in her mouth, and she carefully peeled them out before she spoke or spit on her homework. " Because its got, magic, and, um, magic is, ah... interesting." Moa put down the quill and lined it up along side her sheet of parchment. She spend a few moments making sure it lined up exactly, not wanting it to be messy for any reason.

"I only just found out about magic... So it's, um, really interesting... to me." Moa smiled down at her paper before looking over at Clover once more. She hoped she wasn't boring her.

Clover's eyes widened "Oh so are you muggle born, or half n half like my ma?" she asked with a big smile. "My grandmum really doesn't like my ma because of that. So I don't see her as often as my Grandma and Grandda. Though I prefer life on their farm to that of the city most of the time anyway," she said rather excitedly then her tone changed, "My Grandma is muggle and so are Uncle Mac and Mr. Gaffle the Farm hands. Uncle Mac's not really my uncle I just call him that. And as far as I know so is Emma his daughter. I felt bad having to lie to her about coming here." she looked a little sad at the thought of her longest friend thought she was at a school on some scholarship.

She realized she had gone off on a tangent and got rather embraced about it. "Sorry I guess that's a bit off topic." she said and laughed it off. "Yeah Magic is interesting, but the teacher could sound a little less drone like. It's hard to stay focused lessening to him." she admitted.

She looked at her book "You don't need to be scared of me. Unless you try to hurt one of my friends. But you seem to shy for that." she added as she scanned the page for the answer and then wrote it down on the spare parchment with her trimmed quill.

Moa blinked. She still wasn't the best at remembering some of the magical terms. "Half and half. I think." Moa smiled back at the girl. She sure was friendly. Moa tried to work out Clover's family tree in her mind. It was a bit of a challenge since she seemed to talk rather quickly. Grandmother was a... was angry because. So the mom was half and half, which is what Moa was, right? And- oh, so they were the muggle ones, like Grandfather and, uncle who isn't related? And.. so what did that make Emmy? And, did she miss someone? Oh... topic change!

"Yeah." The history of magic teacher was a bit boring. Moa knew they tried, though. But even the interesting stories in the magical history couldn't be taught well if they were told in monotone. And it wasn't like Moa could read them from the book herself.

"I..." Moa shut her mouth. She wasn't scared of her. Well... she wasn't before. Moa's hand started to shake under the table. She didn't like hurting people (and probably could not, even if she wanted to for some reason) but just the lingering threat was kind of scary. "I wouldn't want to, um, hurt anyone. It's not... not nice." Moa wasn't really the violent type. But the thought that she might do something on accident, no matter how unlikely, made her hands shake and her face turn pink. She gripped at her skirt and fumbled with the hem of it.

"S-so, um, you, ah... you lived on a- a farm? Th-hat must have been f-fun. With all the animals..." Moa thought the idea of farm living was wonderful. She would visit a few of the farms in Italy during her summer visits, and she enjoyed them a lot. The animals, the fresh foods, it was great. She was interested in hearing about Clover's life at the farm, so long as she didn't mind telling it. And it was a wonderful distraction from her homework. The letters were starting to swim already.

Clover looked at her and nodded "I don't really like to fight ether," she said, "But I'm not going to let someone make fun of me or my friends. I don't think it's right to just take it ether." she then made a smile "Don't worry I like ya Moa." she added to calm Moa's shaking a bit. "Sorry to frighten you." Dubhán went over to Moa and rubbed her being part Kneazle he knew that she was a kindred soul.

Clover chuckled "Yeah. It can be a lot of work though, if your not use to it ." She said with a smile. "Well I live on it part of the time." she smiled thinking aloud. "There's a lake we go swimming in and Lots of room to run around and stuff."

Moa wasn't finished shaking, and probably wouldn't be for a while yet. There were always things to be scared of, and many of them liked to pop up randomly. And now that the spark had begun, it would take a while for the fire to simmer down to nothing. Moa bit the inside of her cheek and attempted a smile, but it didn't do much. Still fiddling with her skirt, she looked back down to her paper, or her lap. She was shocked when she felt something against her legs, but she calmed a bit when she realized it was a cat. Biting her lip, she leaned down to pick the pretty thing up, hoping it wouldn't attack her. Moa liked animals, but they were also very scary.

"It sound like... like a lot of fun." Moa said in almost a whisper, still looking at the cat she had placed in her lap. It was very pretty and she decided she liked it a lot. "Does that mean you good. Good at.. at swimming."

Dubhán laid down on Moa's lap "He knows you're kind hearted." Clover said with a smile.

She then nodded "Yeah I alright at swimming, I like taking care of the animals too. One of the reasons why Dubhán's fur is so soft and shiny." she looking at the black cat then down at her papers.

She sighed "Would it help if I left so you could calm down a bit?" asked looking back at Moa with a small smile.

Moa looked down at the cat some more. Did it really know things? She petted the cat contentedly, smiling at it. She really did like animals, so long as they weren't scary.

"It's, um, very nice. The um, fur... And, um, you.. you take care of them? He l-looks, um, very, ah... healthy... So, um you must be, ah-uh, m-g-good." Moa looked back up to the girl and smiled. This was probably as calm as she was going to get.

"Um ah..." Moa didn't know what to say, so she bit her lip and looked down at her paper. She gave a small shrug, unsure which option would be better, and which option would end with the girl not hating her.

Clover nodded "Yeah, If you are scared of them they tend to pick up on that and will react in a hard way." she said with a smile "But Dubhán is a little diffrent then others because he's got a higher sence then other animals."

Clover saw the way Moa acted and nodded "Alright I understand. If you ever want to talk go ahead and ask." she said picking up her ink, corking it, and books and got up. "Go ahead and stay with Moa if you want Dubhán." she said to the black cat. She then headed down and out of the Common-room.

Dubhán looked at Moa and blinked and yawned as if he planed to take a nap right there on her lap.
