"Chocolate!" Holi announced, to whoever was listening, as she carefully tried to set out wobbly containers on any available surface. She'd taken a break from healing time to go and make her second batch of chocolate after the run in with the spider, and this time she'd gone all out, complete with giving up, collaring the nearest Senshi ((Some guy with an scarf pin that looked like a lion doorknocker...)), and hanging on, more or less, until they'd taken a list of required ingredients.
There was fudge, truffles, chocolate covered fruit...and a modification on one of her favorites. chocolate covered Marzipan cats, who's features were delicately applied with further chocolate piping. Two of them, which she'd set aside, looked no coincidentally, a bit like Zue and Cora... at least in so far as she'd been able to achieve with chocolate and marzipan.

"Some of it has nuts, but I know what's what." She offered. She wasn't actually sure either if anyone was allergic to chocolate, but goddamn it, making the stuff had been downright therapeutic, and she hoped that sharing it would be the same for anyone who wanted any.

It was the only way she could think of to deal with the disappearances and the deaths, and nay sayers... well... let them try and get in her face right now. She double dog DARED them.

Camelot was surprised by this little event, wondering how the civilians could cope with the things they had seen and been through. Of course, the answer was right in front of him.

By any means necessary.

He smiled as he stood nearby, hoping Holi was better off than she seemed. On the outside, she seemed bright and she was making chocolate, but Camelot knew better than to take the surface level for granted. She, as many others had, had witnessed some bad things. He hadn't been there to aid in protecting them, either. Now he felt a compelling sense of duty, and he kept his eyes on them, just in case.

The new Squire was standing off to the side, his stomach grumbling pointedly, as if to inquire why he wasn't nearer to the chocolate. Or getting it any.

Grant, for his part, was eager to take part in the chocolate, and smiled enthusiastically at her after looking over the things she had prepared.

"These look amazing! You must be a very talent baker to make all these. And an artist! These cats are so cute. Have you ever tried to sell them?" He watched her with bright eyes, clearly impressed. In awe, even, as if he had never seen anyone make anything in chocolate before, and she must have been a genius for creating something so wholly lovely and clever.

Ixion was enjoying wandering around the various outposts. It seemed that, when there wasn't an attack, people were settling in well and even acting relatively normally. The most of the outposts ,other than Aquarius, weren't his normal choice to visit, they were a bit frou-frou and fussy than he'd have liked, but really he was tired of cleaning. There wasn't that much a nearly 12 year old boy could really do in space, cooking and cleaning were about it.

When the dark haired chibi arrived though, he was pleasantly surprised to be greeted and welcomed with chocolate. He couldn't say no to that!

Ixion wandered up to the chocolates, his eyes wide with anticipation and looking a bit like a hungry lion staring at a tasty gazelle.

Polaris, in her regular and everyday life as Aurora Namid, was a bit of a cook and baker herself. She could make gourmet feasts and she could decorate better than the average joe, but the extreme delicacies of amazingly beautiful sweets or candy and chocolate making was something that she'd yet to master.

It was mere luck that she'd actually arrived at the time the unfamiliar civilian had happened to put out her spread of beautiful and aromatic pieces, but it was definatley enough to stop her in her tracks.

She lingered back for a moment, taking in the sight with soft interest, but unlike Camelot her stomach was not protesting. Not that she didn't like chocolate or sweets. But the prospect of admiring and learning, well.. that was all the more exciting to her.

"They're gorgeous!" Stepping in closer she parroted the civilian enthusiastically, giving the familiar senshi a soft wave by wiggling her fingers and the changed.. but still familiar enough to recognize knight a soft smile.

"You made them yourself?" Polaris looked to Holi finally, curiously. "I've always wanted to learn candy making. Did it take you a long time to learn how?"

"I've been learning how to make chocolate since my dad brought me some home from Germany after a business trip." Holi explained, with a slightly strained smile, brushing at stray strand of hair. She'd pulled most of it back into a tight braid to keep it out of the way while working. "I...won't say that the first few attempts went very well, but I'd love to be a professional candy maker someday..."

...If she survived. Which at this point was... alarmingly questionable. "...As for the time... it um... it kind of depends on the candy. Some of it's more temperamental than others. Chocolate is ok as long as you watch it, if you heat it too much it can separate and then it's just nasty, and white chocolate likes to even more than regular..."

She trailed off with another faint smile, realizing she was probably being boring. She was surprised by the youth of Ixion, but she definitely wasn't in the mood to argue with a potential fan.

"Anyone have any allergies I should know about?" She asked, adding... "Go ahead and take a piece. The cats have marzipan in them, so if you've got a problem with Almonds... you might want something else. Usually I do mice but... cat's seemed more appropriate."

Not wanting to be impolite, she moved in to choose one of the piece of chocolate, in the end choosing a piece of fruit that been carefully dipped and covered in chocolate.

She moved quickly, to try and keep the chocolate from melting onto her white gloves or the fruit juice from staining them. It was just as tasty as it had been beautiful.

Nodding and smiling in soft approval, she mused aloud, more to herself then anyone else. "When I used to go to Crystal one of my classmates was going to show me the ropes on this kind of stuff. But we both just got so busy."

"It isn't too hard to just experiment and play around with it yourself though, hmmm?" Maybe she would give it a go around her Thanksgiving break. Beautiful handmade chocolates did sound like a lovely Christmas gift!

Camelot watched as a young senshi came over to the candies, as well as a couple of others. He watched and let his stomach continue to complain, but he reminded himself he wasn't much for sweets. Even if they did look very good, and he hadn't had anything particularly nice since coming to space. Just whatever fast, simple food he could get a hold of while doing other things.

But he hadn't eaten dinner, he told himself, and until he did that there was no desert. Those were the rules he had grown up with, after all. No point changing them now, just because he was an adult and totally could.

He smiled as Polaris waved subtly to him, nodding his head and waving back jovially.

Grant smiled as the senshi came over to have the treats as well, nodding his head in agreement to her words. They were very pretty sweets, and he wished he could do the same thing, though not in a competitive way. He just felt like it had to be a very cool skill to have, and she was very lucky, or maybe blessed and gifted more accurately in his mind, to have it.

"Professional? That would be amazing! I would come and buy from your shop, if you had one," and now that he said it, Grant would certainly follow through on his promise. He tried to never say anything he didn't really mean. He did consider the fact, though, that this place might not let them leave.

But decided that was more upsetting than saying he wouldn't go, and opted not to think about it too much. Of course they would be getting out of here! The senshi were doing everything they could for it, after all.

"Why are cats more appropriate?" He asked, obliviously. He hadn't seen any of the cats, or at least not that he could remember. In fact, he had seen one, but it slipped his mind completely as he took a piece of chocolate to happily taste.

While he was doing this, he let Polaris do the talking, his eyebrows lifting as he looked her over. He spoke when she was done with her question, though he was obviously not answering it because it wasn't to him. Still, he wanted to tell her, "I like your hair. It's very pretty, and looks good on you."

If he knew how to flirt he might be good at it. Instead, he was giving her a compliment because he did, in fact, like her hair and did think that it looked pretty with her skin tone and outfit. He was a simple creature.

"Shouldn't be, dipped fruit and stuff is pretty easy actually..." She offered. "Even fudge can be made at home fairly simply, if you follow the instructions anyway... burning sugar can be an unholy mess." She took a few seconds, picking up one of the plain Marzipan-cats with an apologetic look, as though she felt a little guilty for eating her own creations.

"You went to Crystal?" Somehow that was surprising, though maybe it shouldn't have been. It was just hard to picture people who threw around magic like they'd escaped from a fantasy novel going to an ordinary school.

Was she going to be able to look at anyone the same if.... WHEN she got home? How would she, when that one simple statement made it clear that anyone could have been one of these magical people. Camelot and Ixion gave an even more clear picture of just how incredibly broad the spectrum was.

"Cats seemed appropriate because I've seen two cat people, and no mice." She explained. "One of them used her little cape to bandage me up after we got attacked at the Chronos Outpost." She explained.

There was a small, irrational burst of jealousy as well, when Grant turned his attention to Polaris. Not so much because she wanted to go out with Grant, he was a sweet little teddybear, but because he was right. Polaris looked lovely and exotic with the white-blue hair and coffee-with-lots-of-cream skin, and beside her, Holi felt like she looked even more like one of those Hot Topic "Living Dead Dolls" especially after being attacked by tentacle monsters and Giant ******** Spiders.

"I have a long way to go before I think I'm ready to open my own place." She admitted. "I really want to go study in Germany and Belgium... anyplace where the really good chocolate comes from. I'll never be able to imitate them, but I can learn a lot, maybe enough to put Destiny City on the map for chocolate... not just... " She trailed off because the rest didn't need said.

It was good information and she listened intently, making note of the things she should try first.

"Just graduated recently, yes." She offered to Holi's question, oblivious to the reason behind it. Polaris had been a senshi so long she'd begun to become fairly blind to what was once a very startling fact. It was true.. anyone could be your greatest ally or enemy. Maybe it was one of the reasons Polaris was so quick to give away her identity to senshi friends. So she could surround herself constantly in people she could trust and feel connected to.

"Gourmet treats are a good business. Everyone loves a treat and it's the kind of stuff that makes great gifts. Who doesn't like chocolate after all. I'm sure it'll be quite a hit if you open one." She agreed with Grant, turning to look at him when he addressed her in particular.

Well... color her flattered as hell.

There was a subtle raise in her eyebrows as he complimented her. If her skin weren't so tanned a bit of color would be visible on her cheeks. She just... wasn't entirely used to being complimented on her appearance. Heck.. even her boyfriend didn't really mention her looks that often. "Thank you" She added genuinely.

"I'm Polaris by the way" She introduced herself to Grant and Holi.

"Well there are unfortunate people who are allergic to chocolate..." Holi added to the conversation. It was an unusual allergy, and she didn't envy anyone with allergys at all, let alone that one. It was hard to imagine day to day life without chocolate, let alone certain holidays which seemed heavily permeated by it. It would be like... like being allergic to turkey and pumpkin at Thanksgiving.
"I'm working on branching out, but chocolate is still my specialty... so finding some people who did other kinds of candy really well wouldn't be a bad thing at all."

Eliza walked over her hair looking as though she'd taken a turn in the hurricane simulator she had seen at the mall and had once in fact tried. It stuck off in every which direction, curly, wavy, and straight, a random leaf or two stuck out the back. She was dressed as she quite often was in clothes she found in wardrobes in the bedrooms of the outpost. Today was no different though today she gone back to boy clothing from Leo, no shoes, which was a common occurrence for her.

"Something smells delicious," she spouted as she came up grinning when she spotted the chocolate and noticed the other having at it. She looked down at her hand to see if they were clean and of course little miss wild child's hands were not so she didn't touch the chocolate.

"This looks so amazing and look at the cute little kitties. Reminds me of the cat lady walking around," she grinned look up to the others around her all taller except a boy who seemed close to her height, though she may have been a bit taller. "You made them," she said looking to Holly thinking that she'd seen the girl before but not being entirely sure.

"Thats who I based those two on, Cora and the other one... um... Zue or something." Holi indicated the two 'special' cats, who she still hoped would go to their respective models. "Cora loaned me her little shawl thing after we got attacked clearing rocks at Chronos. I just hope it didn't get ruined." She admired, with a chagrined look.

Should she feel as guilty as she did for worrying about the capelet when a girl had been killed by a giant spider and evaporated into a cloud of sparkling dust...

She couldn't imagine being the poor girls parents. Even if the rest of them managed to get home... even if they managed to get home there was no closure. There was no body, nothing they could touch and mourn. It brought a uncomfortable lump in her throat, thinking of trying to tell someone's family 'I'm sorry... your daughter or son is dead, they died in space and there's no body...'

Moving past it even after having been here would be an adjustment for many, she couldn't imagine trying to move past it as a family member of one of the dead.

"I did make them..." She added finally, trying to shift her train of thought. "...Making chocolate is relaxing for me... and it's nice to watch people enjoy it... so I thought it wouldn't hurt to make some for everyone. Everything's been just so crazy..."

Zirconia was a cat of sullen and cranky demeanor. Things she enjoyed were few and far between and they were usually ridiculous or unattainable. But very few of these things ranked with the sheer decadent pleasure she got from chocolate. It was indulgent, it was terrible for her, and it was the greatest thing ever.

So when the large, fluffy guardian cat got a whiff on one of her little Seek and Annoy missions, she wasted no time tracking down the person responsible.

"What's going on here?" She asked, trying to sound important and official as she padded her way over to the group, tail swishing expectantly. Maybe they would be open to sharing with something fluffy.

It didn't take long for her to notice Eliza, and recalling how short and irritated she had been when they met earlier, she took to purring and weaving around her ankles as innocently as possible.

She had been in earshot just long enough to identify Holi as the professed chocolate maker, and figured similar treatment for her couldn't hurt either.

"Hello," She said, nearly singing it as she affectionately rubbed her face against her shin. Zirc was laying it on thick, but treats were a special case, here. So much so that she didn't even take note of other familiar faces around.
PostPosted: Wed Oct 12, 2011 12:25 pm

"That's a very smart way to go about it" She nodded complimentarily towards Holi and her thought process. "You can never be TOO well rounded."

Another entered and Polaris offered a polite smile towards the girl before reaching to take one of the truffles as well. Popping it in her mouth, she seemed pleased when the treat melted into a sweet and gooey mess in her mouth.

"Watching people enjoy your food is definately the best." Her thoughts went back to Azzo for a moment, wondering if his grandmother was back and cooking for him again. Or was he just eating junk while she wasn't around?

"I'm sure everyone appreciates a bit of comfort food."

She didn't really have a lot left to say, so unless someone addressed her she'd likely head off and see if there wasn't anything she could do to be helpful somewhere. But before that, she added lightly. "If you ever need more supplies just let me know what you need, I'd be happy to go gather some." Chocolate might not be something that people 'needed' to survive physically. But then... Polaris had always been one that thought emotional and pyschological needs were just as important.

"Well, hopefully the next time you're asking me for a taste of chocolate, it'll be back on earth." Holi smiled wearily, and hopefully. "I really appreciate it though. I'll keep that in mind."

She reached down to scratch Zirconia behind the ear with a smile. "Hey beautiful." She added, wondering if it was a bad that she was getting accustomed to the idea of cats talking. "Hey you can answer a question for me... I was hoping to share some of these with a couple of the uh....people-cats?? And I didn't know if you could eat them..."

She'd never managed to get that question answered, and this seemed like a good a time as any... and if Zirconia was interested in chocolate, that wasn't going to hurt her feelings any either.
