My favorite kind of video games are Turn Based RPGs. My favorite one is Disgaea: Hour of Darkness. It is a simple game that started the release of other games made by Nippon Ichi and Atlus. It is an addicting game, and is fun to play through alot of times.

I like RPGs with a real time system if possible, but I feel right at home with turn based RPGs. Star Ocean had a real time system and it was one of the best series I have ever played (Claude's Mirror Slice and Air Strike from Star Ocean:Second Story. Oh yeah.)

Kingdom Hearts definetly, and Xenosaga. KH was seriously fun, and the next game should be released by the end of next month. And Xenosaga is good, even though I can't beat it.

Yeah, KH really didn't have any stradegy to it, but it was so damn fun that I didn't care. Boo-yeah! Kickin' the dark's a**, one heartless at a time. wink (or, more realistically, 50 heartless at a time. ha ha...)
My all time favorite RPG I just discovered last Christmas. It's called Shadow Hearts 2. It's incredible. Best story line I've ever played. It's the first RPG I've ever played or even heard of that takes place at a real time and place. The setting is quite seriously 19th Century Europe.
On top of that it has a system I've never seen anywhere else. For the most part, it's a simple turn based, but your attacks are determined by a thing called the "Judgement Ring" Basically, what you do is, after you choose your attack, a ring pops up. On this ring are shaded areas, which you try to hit, and a rotating dial, sort of like a radar screen. And you try to stop the dial inside the shaded areas. The strength of the attack, and whether the attack hits or not depends on where you stop the dial. It's pretty cool.
Anyway, I'd recomend that to anyone. It's technically a sequal to two other games, but it pretty much stands alone. (And it's honestly the best game of the series.)
Er...oops. I guess I rambled. xd Well, that shows you how crazy I am about Shadow Hearts. heart

I heard of that series Epsilon! It looked good but I never got around to picking it up. Maybe now I will though.
By far my favortie RPG still has to be either Final Fantasy VIII (better than VII but less popular due to no character deaths or large honkin cleavage, and you know its true). It had a battle system that was simple yet very complex in that you could only pick three other options than attack and had to plan ahead. MOst of all though, I liked the junction system of assigning magic to attributes. Ingenious. Also turning items into magic and turning cards into items was awesome. And the limit breaks were awesome since they were so diverse (gottah love Zell's button masher. It was the original Auron. If you can pull of the My Final Heaven in FFVIII you can do any button combination).
Second has to be Final Fantasy VII. The story. Oh man. That story was breathtaking at such a young age (I played it in 3rd grade and didn't beat it until 5th or 6th grade). It still is used as a source of inspiration for me. Though I will always remember certain things. Sephiroth is a mama's boy. Cloud was emo. Barret is the best. And thouh Aeris had a great influence in the game, Tifa had far larger role due to Cloud's emo-ness. Yet we all love Cloud. AND ZACK IS THE BEST EVER!
And finally, the third choice has to be Disgaea. Really, it introduced me into the whole strategy RPG element (thank Mago for letting me borrow it two years ago. I'll never forget it). Not only was it anime styled in art, but the story was a nice balance. It had moments when you literally fall out of your seat from laughing so much. Unforgetable characters with everything from demon overlords, angels in training, a DEFENDER OF EARTH with his sexy side kick, a kick a** robot that totally owns all, and those darn cudly little dead souls of sinners known as Prinnies. The thought involved in deploying your characters and making sure they don't die from a rather overlooming enemy was fun. But best of all, the script.
*starts quotes*
"Nin nin!" -Flonne "For I am Captain Gordon, DEFENDER OF EARTH!! and my sexy side kick Jennifer and super robot Thursday!" -Captain Gordon "'A HORSE WEINER'!!! Stay alert! That guys dangerous!" - Laharl "DOOD!" - Prinnies "Get your sexy body away from me!" - Laharl "BLEEP BLEEP BLOOP BLEEP. GORDON IS STARING AT JENNIFER'S THEIGHS... PERVERT PERVERT PERVEEERRRTT!!" - Thursday "Moi? It is I! The Dark Adonis!" -Mid-boss "MASTER LAMINGTON!!!!" - Valcanus (Oh how he got so annoying with that one line. But it was still funny) "Nobody can resist the taste of Pizza Shack's Terriyaki Pizza!" - captain Gordon
*end quotes* (Sorry Mago. I forgot all of Etna's lines.)
So yeah. Thats my picks.

Shadow Hearts was funny too. There's one boss that you fight that likes to float around on a levitating pillow and while he's doing cliche bad guy threats, the main characters are asking each other where they can get one of those. xd

When it comes to RPG's, I'm torn between Turn-Based, and Real-Time. I grew up with turn based style games, but here lately, I've been leaning more towards real time style games. The thing is I can't choose which one I like better.

Please.Just give me the good old fashoined turn-based RPGs.I place blame completely on Final Fantasy 7 for the psone for my crazed interest in RPGs.Not that it matters or anything but some of my favorites are Final Fantasy VII,VIII,X-2,XII,Disgaea 2 -cursed memories(im a level 4670 btw),as well as a few that you may have already heard of.
