A small blob of ink peeks out of it's hiding splotch in Lattice's hair, looks around the room, and give a small "meep" before hiding once again. Apparently, the house feels that a bit of reflection is in order for the ghouls. It becomes apparent quickly that this next room is out of place. As far as you can tell, the entire room is made out of mirrors: mirror wall, mirror floor, mirror furnitu- is that a mirror toilet? Pity it's not flushable. There aren't any walls around it either, making it a poor choice to use for a potty break if you wanted to use it. Why are you even thinking about it, anyway?! You should have gone before you left! Either way, the only thing that isn't a mirror in this room is the ceiling. There's that going for you. Navigating this room, on the other hand... It's bad enough that your reflections are everywhere. It's worse still to realize that what you get to go through is a mirror maze. Quote: OOC: To brave the mirror maze, you will need to go through four sections. Please roll the dice specific to the area you are in: Section 1: 1d61, 3, 5: You stumble around, disoriented. Roll again. 2, 4: Success! You make it through the first part. Proceed to Section 2. 6: SCREW THIS! You become frustrated. Or angry. Or very sad over the fact that you're lost. Whatever you're feeling, you manage to hurt yourself for -2 HP. Roll again. Section 2: 1d81, 2: After walking around for three minutes, you realize that you're right back where you started. Roll again. 3, 8: While navigating the mirror maze, you manage to trip over a mirror-table and nearly drop a mirror-vase filled with mirror-flowers. You klutz! Take -1 HP damage. Then reroll. 4, 5: Success! That wasn't too bad. You proceed on to Section 3.6: You come across a mirror-toilet, and decide to spend a little while there. Mirror epiphany toilet! It doesn't seem to have gotten you any further along, though.. 7: How did you...? Somehow, you made it back to Section 1. Please scroll up and roll a 1d6 and follow the listings there. Section 3: 1d101: Hello, person, look at your maze, now back to me, now back at your maze, now back to me. Sadly, you're alone in this maze, but if you stopped getting separated from your group and started keeping a close eye on everyone, you could be as awesome as me. Look down, back up, where are you? You're still in the maze being watched by the GM running this room. What's in your hand, back at me. I have it, it's the luck you need to get through this maze to proceed on. Look again, the luck is now a minipet. Anything is possible when you roll a one in the middle of a dice game. You need to reroll a 1d10 and quote Marushii with your minis SN. 2, 3, 4: You're so lost. So, so lost. So reroll and try again! 5, 6: You made it! You continue on to the final section, Section 4. 7: You're lost. So, so very lost. What do you do? Easy: you follow someone. Pick a random group member, don't look at their roll. Treat what they got, what you got. Reroll or proceed as needed. 8: No. No. Hell no. You did not just go back to Section 1. But you totally did. Except you somehow navigated it and Section 2, lucky you. Reroll 1d10 and try again. 9, 10: Yep. Still lost. Reroll the 1d10. Section 4: 1d121: Uggggh this maze is so trippy! First you move and it's like. WOW! So many other-reflecections of you move too! It's so disorienting! You need to roll again as a result. 2: Navigating the maze would be easier if you stopped trying to walk INTO the mirrors. Take -1 HP damage and reroll. 3: When you see it, you can't believe your eyes. There's... There's a mirror-couch. A couch made out of mirrors. It's not comfortable to sit on, but it's sturdy enough to stand on. You use it as a boost to peer over the side of the mirror-walls and look around. There's the exit! You cheating cheater: you navigate your way to the exit. 4: You have just about HAD it with this maze! Maybe you're angry. Maybe you're filled with despair. No matter what you feel, you either accidentally or on purpose give the wall a good shove. It falls over. Then it knocks down the mirror-wall after that, and the one after that, and the one after that until you have a clear path to the exit. It's too bad the walls sprung back up before you could run across them! Try again. 5: Navigating the maze would be easier if you paid more attention to where you were. You manage to hurt yourself for -1 damage. Reroll. 6: Through much trial and error, you manage to find the exit. Horray! Now all you need to do is wait at the exit for the rest of your group... 7: You have just about HAD it with this maze! Maybe you're angry. Maybe you're filled with despair. No matter what you feel, you either accidentally or on purpose give the wall a good shove. It falls over. Then it knocks down the mirror-wall after that, and the one after that, and the one after that until you have a clear path to the exit. Lucky break! You run across the fallen mirrors and reach the exit. Behind you, the mirrors spring back up into place. 8: Feeling lucky, you take random twists and turns... and get nowhere fast. Roll again. 9: When you see it, you can't believe your eyes. There's... There's a mirror-couch. A couch made out of mirrors. It's not comfortable to sit on, but it's sturdy enough to stand on. You use it as a boost to peer over the side of the mirror-walls and look around. There's the exit! You abuse this knowledge to reach the exit, except the exit isn't where you remembered it to be. In fact, you turned yourself around. Go back to Section 3 and reroll a 1d10. 10: You are so, so lost. But that's okay! You manage to find someone else in your group who's also lost and in Section 4. Through teamwork, the magic of friendship, and dumb luck the pair of you manage to make it to the end! Pick someone who is in Section 4 at the same time as you. Both of you exit the maze. You must pick someone at the exact time you roll a 10; you may not wait for another team member to get into section 4. If no one else is in your section, proceed by yourself to the exit.11: You navigate this section of the mirror-room with ease. Why is everyone else having so much trouble? Your section of the maze is a large empty mirror-chamber. It feels like whoever built the maze forgot to add twists and turns to this area: it's an open room with nothing in your way. You practically waltz to the exit. 12: You know what's awesome about mirrors? Mirrors break. Sure there's the whole "Seven Years Bad Luck" thing associated with them, but you know what? Stuff that. You pick up a mirror-object and throw it at a mirror-wall and proceed with the destruction. You smash your way out of the maze, unaware that the maze is repairing itself behind you. You're out, but at what cost? If the next room requires you to roll a dice, you will AUTO FAIL that roll. If the next room does NOT require a dice roll, then you get away. Scott free. Lucky you. The room has no visible exit, in fact, the only thing visible at all is the giant metal tunnel before them that goes up...up....and up, hopefully to an exit. Clouds obscure the top, and thunder rumbles softly through the area, followed by a light sprinkling of rain.
http://thesporkedken.com/upthespout.png
The top of the tunnel is a hundred lengths up. To reach the top you may roll as many 6-sided die as you wish. However, should you roll a 1 at any point, a rush of water washes your student back down to the bottom. They also loose 1 HP point for every 1 rolled. So you can choose to climb of carefully, or rush quickly. When they reach a total of 100 through rolling, they have reached the top and the doors to exit the area.
One particular student has an ability that can enable those who follow after her to reach the top safely.
At the top, you see two doors, and two statues Upon seeing the group, they speak in unison:
“We are the guardians of the way onward.”
They fall silent. Then the one on the left speaks, “Both of these doors lead somewhere.”
“But it all depends on what you’re looking for,” the statue on the right chimes in, “If it is the way forward -”
“Oh! I know that one!” The one on the left interrupts. “It’s behind my door!”
The one on the right shakes its head. “No, it isn’t. You just want them to go through your door for your own amusement.”
“I am not!” The left statue retorts, “I’m only trying to help! You’re the one who is insisting on confusing them! Besides,” the statue turns towards the group. “Why don’t you lot pick?”
“It is your decision, after all,” the right statue adds with a nod. “Though you may wish to discuss it amongst yourselves; you must agree on one door, and must go through that door and only that door.”
“And we can’t tell you what’s behind the doors, either,” the statue on the left chimes in. “So don’t get any ideas! Just let us know which door you pick. And you can’t ask us any questions, either.”
The right statue says nothing, and watches the group expectantly.
OOC: You may only pick ONE door, and everyone MUST go through that door. The room is black and dripping with more black, hardly any light can be seen as the door opens. The cautious may try to touch the floor or wall, and come away with hands covered in ink. Compared to other field trips, and even Amityville itself...this isn't so bad. A messy destroyer of wardrobes? yes. But at least it won't cause you to die a horrible and painfu-the door suddenly slams shut and the chamber begins to shake! Something to the side bursts and then a resounding crash can be heard from above. In the ink-coated darkness, only one student was able to witness one of the tiles on the floor is suddenly lift up to slam against the ceiling before it settled back into place. Only they can see the black-on-black checkerboard that dominates the entire room that everyone will need to walk across it in order to get across.
http://halloween.thesporkedken.com/event/h2k11/grid.png
OOC: Please RP taking a step onto the board. You will start along the bottom at row F and work your way towards the top of the map (row A). You are moving from the very BOTTOM of the grid to the TOP.
With every post, you need to do two things: 1) List your coordinates. xxx Let's say you're going to start two rows from the left. You would put (( Entering F,2)) in your post to say "Hi! I'm in row F, column 2." xxx From there, let's say you want to move to row E, column 2. You would then put (( F,2 to E,2 )) in your post. xxx Made it to the other side? (( Leaving A,2 ))
2) Roll 2d8. Two, 8-sided dice. This will determine what tile erupts, regardless of who is on it. xxx The first number is the VERTICAL number. xxxxx 1 = A xxxxx 2 = B xxxxx 3 = C xxxxx 4 = D xxxxx 5 = E xxxxx 6 = F xxxxx 7 = NO ERUPTION xxxxx 8 = NO ERUPTION xxx The second number is the HORIZONTAL number.
If you are unfortunate enough to be on a tile that is rolled, you will suffer -1 HP as the tile is propelled up and against the ceiling!
You can only move HORIZONTALLY or VERTICALLY. You may not move diagonally. Why? Magic prevents you from doing so.
Your dice rolls affect EVERYONE on the board. If your roll matches someone who’s on that tile, they will suffer damage. It may be best to go across one at a time for safety, or it might be better if you all rushed it...
How to determine whether or not a tile erupts under you: 1) If the post with the coordinates your post was currently on is BEFORE your post, the tile propels you up and against the ceiling before you have a chance to move. 2) If the post with the coordinates your character is on is AFTER your post, you take no damage.
Thus, if the group goes one at a time there's no risk of players hurting each other... But it takes a long time. That, and you might not uncover grid secrets... If there are any.

The first thing she noticed about the room was the fact that it was dark. Very dark. She lifted up her hands to the front of her face, but realized that she couldn't even see them...
"Uh... Could there be a light switch somewh-" She took a step back, feeling the now closed door before going left to try to see if there was a switch on the wall. Instead, her hand came into contact with something sticky and slightly slimy; she twitched, wincing before pulling her hand back, her fingers rubbing against one another. To her surprise, the substance dried up rather quickly at the rubbing, prompting another frown from her, "There's something coating the wall..."
Now that she had established that, she couldn't help but notice that the floors were somewhat slippery too... Was the room covered by something?
"Uh, guys...?" She tried to hold onto someone, her hands grabbing at the air, as the room begun to shake; was this how Lattice saw the world? It was... Rather frightening to not be able to see anything!

And it was black. A trial of darkness was expected, yes, but as to how to deal with it? The frost demon never really figured that out for herself. It wasn't a common darkness though, there was something odd about the room. Edel inched a toe in, feeling the floor with her foot. Wet, slippery.
The ghoul had a feeling that there was something more.
True enough, the door slammed shut and the room began to tremble. Something had hit the ceiling – but what? Edel could only wonder in the helplessness of her blindness.
Somewhere in the room came Lizzy's voice – so all of them couldn't see a thing?
“Should we group together? Now that everyone is blind?” she frost demon offered. Little did she know that amongst them, one of them could see.

She followed Lizzy and Edel in as far as she could- on entering the house, though, it was pitch-black. The only way she knew her teammates were still around was from their voices- and then something grazed her shoulder, and she stepped back with a squeak, propping her back against...
the really, really wet wall of the house. It was a liquid thicker than water, though, and the only thing she could think was 'oh god is this blood'- the salamander had never had to deal with situations in which she could see at all, before, and it was terrifying her. Hastily moving away from the wall, she turned to where she assumed Edel was. Even if she couldn't see the other girl, it gave her a little comfort to know she wasn't completely alone.
"Where are you all, in the first place?" She wasn't about to move, not when she didn't know where she was going.. the floor beneath her felt stable enough, but what if there were holes in the ground...?

The ghoul wandered into the house and felt disorientation grasp at her and make her feel as if she was being tugged all around until eventually it all seemed to settle. Door slammed shut giving her a start amongst other happenings in the room she also heard voices but she was busy watching a tile lift up and slam against the ceiling before it settled back into place and suddenly anxiety rose soon to be replaced by excitement.
Gazing around she saw pretty much everything including the tiled floor she looked around seeing parts of her teammates here and there (in one case an entire back was covered). "I can see you all!" she uttered with a bit more excitement than she probably ought to have felt.
"I can see the room too...There are tiles I think we are meant to walk on them, but we should be careful," Lattice explained sobering up a little bit, "it seems like the tiles can move."
..Seems was probably an understatement since she witnessed the Jack Damned tile flying into the ceiling earlier.

"You can see the room...?" She blinked before realization hit her; that sticky liquid on the wall! Taking a step towards where she was sure she heard the rest of her groupmates, she stretched her arms out to try to touch one of them, "OH! Is the room covered in ink?" Professor Red did say something about the rooms catering to their strengths and weaknesses after all...
"Uh... Lattice, could you grab all of us?" She stopped where she was, frowning as she tilted her head, "Everyone sounds so close, but I can't see any of you, so... Uh, should we move together? You could guide us to the other side, Lattice! I don't really want to navigate my way through like this..."

((Entering F,6)) Lattice could see them, how? Nevermind that for now, Edel was glad that Lattice had explained the room to them. What she had meant by “the tiles can move”.... it probably meant that they would.... crash into the ceiling. As if on cue, a crash could be heard from the far end of the room. Well.
Covered in INK. Edel had no idea that Lattice could see ink – well of course any other normal person would as well, but for what it's worth, at least they had a set of eyes amongst the four of them. So if she could see ink..... Edel swooped down to the floor to cover her hands with the black liquid and pressed her hands down on her pants. Perhaps now Lattice would be able to see her better now.
Responding to Lizzy's call to gather, the frost demon had unknowingly stepped on a tile. A crash sounded from somewhere in the room the minute she did so and the frost demon froze.
What....did she just do?

As Edel left for the board, she held her breath, hoping that she wouldn't step on a rigged tile. At the loud sound that exploded soon after Edel left, she jumped before wincing; that sounded really painful. She wiped some of the drying ink onto her other hand, over Mitsu's bandages, not wishing to destroy the uniform so soon into the field trip.
"My turn next," She inhaled sharply and stepped on the board, squeezing her eyes shut as she waited for something to happen. As if on cue, somewhere too close for comfort erupted, leaving Lizzy to shiver; that could be one of them on that tile!

Wait... what was going on? Lattice could see the room, as dark as it was? Were those needle-like things in her arm antennae, or something? And Lizzy had somehow managed to identify the strange liquid as ink.. well.As glad as she was that her teammates had figured something out, she rather wished she had something to contribute.
Hesitantly, she took a step forwards.

At the indication to grab all of them Lattice blinked and watched as everyone moved to the tiles anyways. The ghoul uttered a soft humming sound, "I can at least notify you of tiles that exploded," she said quietly, "but grouping us together might not help."
Or it might. Still! Going individually might do some good.
Lattice let her comrades go first before she moved onto a tile of her own stepping on row F in the 1st column.

Ok, so each step would trigger a tile to explode. Edel was torn between moving quickly or cautiously. All four of them were on the grid now, so each move a person made.....well.... The frost demon wasn't so keen about thinking what would happen if one was standing on the tile that would shoot up and hit the ceiling.
The quicker they made it across, the better then.
“Hey Lattice? Do tell us if we're headed in the right direction.” Edel called out in the dark.
Now then, forward, backward, right or left? Well the door was around that side, so..... With that, the ghoul took a step to her right, moving to E6. And as she did so, the tile right behind her slammed right into the ceiling.
Close call.

As another tile went BOOM somewhere, she winced, her toes curling up in her shoes as she hesitantly took a few steps forward, trying to navigate her way to the next tile; so far, nobody had screamed yet, which was definitely a good thing.
"I hope so..." She replied Lattice, glad to hear her voice; the silence was unnerving, especially since it was broken by the sound of tiles being forced into the air and to the ceiling, "How far do we have to go before we reach the other side...?"
