Team

Character Name: Ashford
Minis Account Name: witch
Year, Race - Subspecie: 1, Reaper - Pyramid Head
Natural Ability/Abilities:
Natural Ability -- Brute strength. He's got to hold that sword up somehow, right? While the Great Knife drains him, any other object is generally a breeze for him to lift/etc. He's had it all his life, though, like all Pyramid Heads, so he knows his strength.
FEAR: The Great Knife -- The Great Knife itself is a harvester of FEAR through guilt. It's heavy to all that would wield it, but the burden is lessened for Ash, as he is this Knife's owner. It can siphon guilt from a nearby target to power up his next swing. Or, he can send it out as FEAR in a shockwave AOE effect, damaging his opponent. However...anything beyond simply swinging the blade takes an enormous amount of concentration and energy from Ashford to pull off. Generally, he will stick to siphoning guilt-- not necessarily doing anything to the opponent, merely feeding off of the guilt already present in the mind.

Character Name: Dekana
Minis Account Name: SkieBorne
Year, Race - Subspecie: 1, Monster - Mishibizhiw
Natural Ability/Abilities:
Natural Ability: Command of Freshwater Fauna - He can order fish and amphibians and other small creatures native to fresh water environments to do his bidding. Only simple commands work.
Racial Ability: Water Breathing – He can swim and breath in water as well as anyone walks and breaths on land
FEAR: Underrealm Torrent - As a personification of the Underwater Panther, Dekana can channel the energy of the underworld to which all his people are connected. In this attack, it is a building pressure about him that flares out in shadowy tendtrils in a similar fashion to an explosion. From this bursting bubble of underworld energies, a torrent of spectral fish and/or snakes stream, harrying the opponent. The Fish and Snakes’ attacks are as real as if they had been corporeal. The kind of response (fish or snake) and the number of respondents varies with his concentration, training, and present state of being – exhausted being a weak response, fully rested being the strongest response/offensive. The apparitions appear inky and trail shadowy smoke, almost like malicious ghosts in the air.
Summary: Illusory spectral snakes or fish attack an individual en masse.

Character Name: Ys
Minis Account Name: DragonSpeaker
Year, Race - Subspecie: 1, Monster - Deep One
Natural Ability/Abilities:
Natural Ability: Lateral Line - Like fish and many amphibians, Deep Ones possess a special set of neural receptors that allow them to keep track of other creatures in their vicinity due to the natural weak magnetic and electrical fields they emit. This ability is far stronger in water than on land. The result is that Ys sometimes appears very graceful because she is able to move along with others the way fish in a school synchronize themselves with calculated ease due to naturally sensing the movements of others. This ability is not perfect, but may seem uncanny.
FEAR: Thalassophobia - In its ideal state, this ability causes the victim to have hallucinations of their worst sea-related fears. They can hear the water, they can feel the cool deep closing in around them. They have a sensation that sharks are swimming near or that eels are coiling about their bodies. They can feel the water dragging them down, down, down into the dark abyss. It is highly dependent on the victim's proximity to Ys, as the closer they are to her, the more intense the imaginings. Since she is only a beginning student and her powers are weak, someone being subjected to her FEAR would probably experience seasickness (worse if they normally get seasick easily) and feel like they were wading around in the tide a little too long, maybe encountering an unhappy crab. When she does very poorly in her attack, they feel like they've been splashed with water and may have cause to wonder if it is raining. Should this attack actually be used in water, it may be more effective at a more advanced level.

Character Name: Marzena
Minis Account Name: melodine
Year, Race - Subspecie: 1, Monster - Selkie
Natural Ability/Abilities:
Charm: A passive aura which affects humans much more effectively than it does the residents of Halloween Town.
FEAR: Her power is that of appearance illusion, and for now, she is able to make the target seem as though their skin is peeling/melting away. Once she gets better at it, she may even be able to create the feeling of pain while this happens, increasing the target's belief that this is real. As she advances, she may also master the ability to branch out into different appearance illusions.

Recap:
✓ You've all shown up in the human world at a boogyman training camp. Considering it's a school field trip thing, somebody is probably going to get maimed. But the school wouldn't let you die! Or would they...

As you walk into the room, the first thing you notice isn't the glowing white stone that juts out from the walls, fading in and out. It isn't the rocky uneven floor, covered in algae, making it hard to get your footing. Nor, is it the soaking wet seaweed that hands off of the ceiling. It's the smell. The scent of the sea at low tide. Empty crab shells and fish bones lay scattered about, but there is no sign of blood at all. Occasionally, you hear a splash that seems to be coming from behind the stone walls. Sometimes water flecks out and hit out, but where it came from is hard to tell.

On the other side of the room however, there seems to be some kind of inset mount. Seashells decorated the sides and you make out the shape of a square. Lines made of black rock, symbols engraved in glowing stone, and cut blank squares. On the ground nearby are tiles made of the same glowing stone, and they look like the could fit easily into the cut outs.

For some reason, you find your attention focused on the strange four by four grid filled with puzzles. There is a strange sort of something to it, a compulsion if you will. It's as if the puzzle wishes to be solved...

The smell of the sea. Aaaaaah. Marzena took a deep breath, and the usual frown on her face was replaced with a content, almost serene look. At least her group members didn't know her well enough to think it strange and besides, most of their group were aquatic creatures. So it was pretty much understandable to Ys and Dekana to feel totally at home in this room.

Still, they couldn't very well dilly dally about. The selkie started forward to peer at the puzzle, lips pursed as she tried to figure it out. "Moon, bat, pumpkin, bone." She murmured, picking up a tile. "So the bat would go here..." she fitted it in the empty space in the last row of the third column, and put a pumpkin tile into the first row of that very same column. "I think that's right?" She asked her group members with a quizzical raise of the eyebrow.

Dekana frowned. Wrinkling his nose, the panther curled his lengthly tail up around him and looked around. Salt water. Why'd it have to be salt water? He glanced at his group members, Ys he knew a little, but the others he was unfamiliar with... and gave a sigh.

At least they seemed to all share traits with him. Which was fortunate - for them. The halloweener had never been much of one for the whole team spirit thing but dillydallying around school didn't sound as much fun as this.

Still. Salt. He'd have his daily intake for years by the end of this, he was sure!

His attention was drawn towards the mount on the other side of the room, the grid beckoning him without him realizing and he soon joined Marzena before it, watching her place a few of the tiles. "Looks right," he replied, reaching for a tile and placing it into its slot, filling a third space, swiftly followed by a fourth. "There."

Arriving on the scene, Ys quickly took in her surroundings with a mixture of confusion and relief. Why was there all this sea paraphernalia in the house anyway? But it was a pleasantly familiar setting in its own way, from the sea smells and sounds to the comforting darkness. It all reminded her of home. Well, except for the weird puzzle that two of her teammates were working on while she stood stupidly where she had appeared.

With a start as she returned to the moment, she crept over to the odd game they were playing at and gave it a cursory look-over. It seemed that they had pretty much finished it off already and she nodded in satisfaction. "Good job, looksss like you two have got an eye for thisss ssssort of thing," she grinned, teeth reflecting the ghostly light in an eerie way. Puzzles weren't her strong point, but she wouldn't have to demonstrate that just yet, it seemed.

Since they seemed to have things well in hand, she plopped down nearby, toying with a fish bone in one hand as she looked around the room for other interesting things. "Wasssn't there another team member?" She was mostly thinking out loud, but seeing as how she only counted three of them, including herself, it was a pertinent question.

Marzena smiled; just a little, as the solution began to form before their very eyes. "Well, they aren't here." She muttered in response to Ys, glancing backwards to make sure her statement was correct. Yep, there were only three of them. Did whoever it was get detained by Red or something? It wasn't as though they could go back now, and they couldn't wait here forever. At least Marzena didn't want to. This training outing thing was supposed to prove themselves.

"I guess we can go forward and they can catch up later." She said, fitting the last tile into a hole and stepped back to scrutinize their work.

(( Enter Fantie! ))

Fantie appeared in the room, floating just behind the two-legged creatures as they looked at some kind of puzzle. It was much too advanced for her. But of course, that wasn't what she was interested in. Oh no, Fantie would much rather scare these creatures out of her home.

So she began to proceed slowly and as quietly as possible. Unfortunately, her little witches hat ends up hitting some seaweed hanging from the ceiling and it makes a very audible slimy sound as it slides against her hat. Fantie frowned, great now they knew she was here. So much for being sneaky.

"Yesss, perhapsss sssomething happened to the other. They will catch up. I think." She didn't sound terribly sure, it was more supposition than anything else. Ys brightened up again at the sight of the finished puzzle. Now things would get interesting!

She waited expectantly for a door to open or the puzzle to shift about and form some kind of gateway... Nothing. Her attention was all on that side of the room when she caught the sound of something slimy behind her and stiffened. Whirling around, she saw the ghost creature and lurched backward into a crouching position. "Rrrrr, where did you come from!?" Ghosts completely unnerved her, what with their going through walls and suddenly appearing and whatnot, and this looked pretty ghostly. The presence of two others lent her the strength to cover her fear so her voice only shook a little bit when she spoke again, "Wh-Who are you?"

((OOC: Should we roll for initiative? ))

Fantie's thick boo eyebrows came together in anger till they completely formed a 'V' on her ghostly face. The ugly creature had asked her questions. She couldn't believe it would think that she would answer. She rarely spoke among her own kind so of course she wouldn't give a response. Instead she loomed closer, her mouth opening as if to say something but then she just closed it.

Clearly the creature that had spoken was scared of her. That was a good thing. She hoped they were scared of her. If only that stupid piece of seaweed hadn't hit her hat. Now her hat sat at an odd angle on top of her ghostly head. Of course, it wouldn't fall off or so she thought. As a test, she rolled over in the air and sure enough it stayed on her head. Fantie gave the creature an evil little grin and then began to float up higher. Maybe if she dive bombed them, they would scatter and she could make a fast attempt to hide from their sight. She was much more comfortable attacking from the shadows or creeping up on them.

((Not sure what to do, I've been checking every day. ^^; Kinda weird to only have Ys go on though. I'm good with rolling for initiative when it comes to that part.))

"Are you serious?" Marzena muttered, turning to look at the ghostly intruder as Ys announced its arrival. Although it was technically a haunted house, so. The Selkie grasped the other girl's shoulder reassuringly. "Oh come on. It's just a small little ghost. With a hat." She didn't think it was that scary, although a part of her was rather wary. Was this part of the test?

((sorry! I've been checking too, but I thought there would be a GM post in reply to the puzzle solving >: ))
