I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner! Must have been all the NaNoWriMo prep that overshadowed my extreme love of the October holiday. But now I have seen the light! On with the details!
So here's how I'm envisioning this going down. Contestants will have from now til Monday, the 24th (giving you little over two weeks) to write and submit their best original scary ghost story/stories here in this thread. There are no word limits, content restrictions or rules about how many stories you can enter, just make sure it's something befitting the holiday and the title of "ghost story". After all the posts have been made, the following week (the 25th to the 30th) will be for everyone to vote on their favorites. This will be done privately through pm's to me, so that the winner will remain a mystery until revealed on Halloween day itself!
Now, you may be asking yourself why you should bother taking the time to write a ghost story when there's so much else you could be doing. Well, I'll tell ya. Besides the vast amount of pride, bragging rights, and coolness that comes with winning, the winner will receive a nice prize of 50,000 GAIA GOLD. That's right, you could win monies. And that's not all.
Grand Prize = 50,000g
2nd Prize = 25,000g
3rd Prize =10,000g
That's 85k worth in prizes! So get to writing you ghouls and goblins! It's time to scare some people!
