How long had she been gone? Days…weeks? Months? Otea had lost count. All she knew was she wasn’t in the Pridelands anymore. Far from it, by the looks of it. Poor Suoh, he seemed so heartbroken when she left, she was quite surprised to find that the male hadn’t followed her. A slightly twitch on her muzzle caused her to frown. She…did miss her home, as much as she didn’t want to admit it. Being in the rogue life was just awful. And whatever lands she had stumbled across? Oh equally worse! It was sand. Sand all around! Sighing, Otea stared towards the sun for a brief moment. She was hot, and thirsty. She knew she should have stopped at that last waterhole she saw, but she didn’t. Oh of her rotten luck.
The lioness continued into the desert. Maybe water would be up ahead?

 When he found that little stinker he'd be sorrier than he'd ever been in his short life... Msrah stalked through the desert near the temple looking for one of his stray charges. The cubs own sister had ratted him out, saying that her brother had managed to sneak out and was probably in danger. How this had happened was beyond him, but you didn't question things like that when young ones were lost in the desert. It was very dangerous out here and he might as well find a dead young male if he was unlucky. The recent heat wave didn't help at all, and the time would soon run out if he couldn't find the cub and get him some shade and water.
So far he hadn't had any luck tracking down the escaped cub, and he started to suspect the girl had managed to pull his tail. But before he gave up he'd have to extend the search as far as a young member of the pride was able to go. Other minders were looking in the temple and if Hik-ten was found there Msrah was not going to be a funny nanny to answer to. He was worried and that made him very angry, and if he found out he'd scorched his paws for nothing there would be consequences.
"HIK-TEN!" he yelled, "Make some noise if you're out here. I'm not mad, I just want to get you back inside."

Otea froze, hearing the shouting voice up ahead. Hikten? Who was that. Bright blue eyes stared straight ahead, before skimming the ground for footprints in the sand. There was none. Was there someone lost out here? Otea knew just how hard it was to do such a thing.
…Wait… Did he mention inside? Was there shade? Were there others? The sun was beaten down on her pelt, making the skin underneath it burn whenever touched. She would love to be one of those ‘inside’ right about now. Chancing to call out to the other, Otea sighed. What could be the worse another lion could do? She wasn’t strong enough with lack of water to defend herself; But she could be smart enough to weasel her way out of sticky situations.
“Um…I don’t see a ‘Hikten’ out here…but I’m Otea?” She called back to the voice. Here was hoping that whoever this lion was was just as friendly as her.

When he finally found signs of life it was no cub calling back to him. An adult out here? But they hadn't started a search party outside yet. He started trotting faster, ignoring his body that would have rather moved slowly in this heat. What he found surprised him, a pale yellow lioness that he didn't recognise. She looked a bit worse for wear and he could only assume that she had come through the desert.
"Otea," he said and nodded in greeting, not forgetting his manners despite the dire situation, "I'm Msrah. Have you seen a cub out here? How long since you last had a drink of water?"
He wasn't smiling, but now was not the time. Finding his small stupid ward was the most important task at hand, but he wasn't about to let a lioness expire in the desert, even if she wasn't on of their own. He had a deep respect for the desert and knew there was little room for messing around.
