The Simplicity of Normalcy

As you enter the gym, you find yourself in an impossibly long hallway. The walls that surround you are pure white, floor on which you stand is a pearly pink and hanging from the ceiling are silver Pokeball shaped lanterns. All is quiet but for the faint sound of music- which you can't quite make out.
You begin to walk, hoping to find the gym leader, a door, something. With each step the music gets more distinct but the hall never seems to end. Minutes became an hour in no time and still there was nothing. Everything seemed to be the same as when you first entered.
That changed soon enough, as you spot a giant black arrow painted on the wall- pointing in the direction you are headed. You continue on, slightly more enthusiastic than you have been during the last hour. A few minutes later, you see something painted on the wall again: Almost there.
You stare at it for a few minutes before continuing on. The paint had run before it dried. If it had been painted red instead of black, it would've looked like blood. A few more minutes and you can see the end of the hall.
As you approach, you notice more details. The music played loudly here. The lanterns that hung from the ceiling here were Pokemon shaped. Togekiss, Skitty, Chansey, Tauros, Jigglypuff- were but a few of them. A comfy light pink reclining chair sat in the exact middle of the wall, like a throne. Upon the chair sat a woman. Her legs draped over one armrest, her head the other. Her eyes had been closed but popped opened at your approach.
"Ah, you must be a challenger."
