These caverns became present in the outskirts of Konoha many years after the former Hokage, Hitori, vanished from her duties leaving the politics of the village to a reliable successor she went on a journey and has yet to be seen again. Some say the caverns formed as a home for her to return to believing the country wished for the Hokage to return someday. However they formed they certainly stand as a impressive memorial to the former Hokage who utilized crystals in many of her jutsu. A dragon is rumored to dwell deep inside these expansive caverns however no proof has ever been found.

Sai hummed to himself softly, downcast eyes staring at the heirloom dagger that he held in his hand. Turning the weapon by the hilt, he ran a finger over the edge of the blade earning himself a nick. With a grimace, he pressed the finger to his lips until the blood stopped it's flow. "You'd think by now I would learn to be more careful checking my tools..." The man said with a chuckle, his eyes raising to look at his companion. "Tell me, what do know about this place?"It had only been a few hours since Sai's return to the country and since then he had departed from the company of Juugou and Sorain. Shortly afterwards he had met with Haikyo on the road, previously sending for him via messenger bird. Together, the duo have made it to the entrance of the a large cavern of crystal where the they are currently checking their equipment.

 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Haikyo had been looking over his own equipment--checking his gauntlet to ensure the loading mechanisms would not jam, making sure there were no misalignments in his chest armor. He could not afford to fail during any sort of encounter due to his own lack of maintenance. When Sai spoke up, however, his eyes rose as his hands continued to move, tying his shin-guards tighter. He smirked and shook his head as he looked at the man. "You'd think so. What's on your mind? Or are you really so unaware of your own blade's sharpness?" Haikyo teased at the man. He had been summoned by Sai--though, truly, he knew little of why. However, that was Sai's signature fashion, so Haikyo worried very little over it. He had finished going over his equipment when he caught a glimpse of his pure silver hair across his eye--a strand fallen from his tied back hair. Ever since he had unleashed the full power of the organ, his hair's color had been fully drained--apparently a trait of the clan...also further enhancing his confusion as to how this could be.
"To tell you the honest truth, I know nothing about it at all. I mean, I have only lived here for a few months. I have heard some things--that it is linked to some sort of legend about a past hokage. A woman--if I am not incorrect?" He asked with a quirked brow as he looked around the crystal caverns. "Why exactly have you brought me here, Sai? What was it that you needed me for? Hell, you didn't even really explain what you were doing when you left. Always so vague."[ Ooc: ] Quote: Battle Word Count: 4,949 Word Count With Nisha / Sai / Juugou: 13,199 Mission 1: Fixer Upper: 5,253 / 2,000 Mission 2: Surface Layer 2,749 / 2,000 Mission 3: Final Touches 2,376 / 2,000 Mission 4: Stalking the Hunter 6,700 / 2,000 Battle Words: 2,508 Solo Word Count: 1,195 New Team Count: 4645 Sai / Haikyo Count: 439
Sai grinned back at Haikyo, his dagger returning to the sheath tied to his lower back as he glanced towards the open cavern of crystals. "I would be breaking character if I just told you." He said with a chuckle. Slipping his cloak on he turned to face Haikyo again, "I asked you to come so we could talk, I could use the company and this is probably one of the few times where are honestly not going to worry about any sudden attacks. Sorry to disappoint you if you were hoping for anything exciting, I'm just here to collect something."
 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Haikyo chuckled as the man admitted he would be breaking character if he went ahead and told him. It was true. Sai had a persona about him--a way of carrying himself and behaving that just emanated a certain quality that Haikyo had not experienced in other people before. When the man continued, however, Haikyo grew a little more interested. He wondered what it was that the man needed to talk to so badly about...or why he wanted company. Both of those things were usually quite opposite. "Well, I think excitement is overrated sometimes. I just had enough of it back in the village. I went to go take care of that mercenary...though the two you left me with decided they should come along. I should have just commanded them back...but I let them join. Regardless, they dealt with their foe just fine. I also got the b*****d who torched that hotel...but, in the end, it only ended up causing more trouble for the village. The idiots went crazy and did so much damage to one of the streets in Tanzaku." He stated with an exasperated sigh.
He should have waited longer--planned it out better. Sure he knew where they were...it was only supposed to ever be a recon mission...but they were expected. Somehow the rotund foe had learned of Haikyo's intentions, though he did not know how...yet. "How did things go, wherever you went, doing whatever you did?" He asked. If Sai was in the mood for talking, he might as well try and see just how much he wanted to talk about, and if he was feeling uncharacteristically chatty, Haikyo could see no reason not to open the floor to the man as well. All would unfold in due time.[ Ooc: ] Quote: Battle Word Count: 4,949 Word Count With Nisha / Sai / Juugou: 13,199 Mission 1: Fixer Upper: 5,253 / 2,000 Mission 2: Surface Layer 2,749 / 2,000 Mission 3: Final Touches 2,376 / 2,000 Mission 4: Stalking the Hunter 6,700 / 2,000 Battle Words: 2,508 Solo Word Count: 1,195 New Team Count: 4645 Sai / Haikyo Count: 833
