Sitting nestled comfortably within the kingdom lies a little store. Though only recently made, it bears a warm and friendly atmosphere that reminds one of a mother's kitchen. Plain wooden tables are decorated only by simple table cloths bearing floral motifs and other prints. The sign above the entrance serves as a good guess for what was inside.

The Honeydrop Cafe

As one might imagine, the cafe's central theme is honey. All the food and drink within the cafe comes mixed or served with it normally, giving the entire cafe a sweet smell that can be almost sickly so to first time visitors. Of course, for those who want something a bit more on the normal side anything on the menu can be ordered without the honey at a reduced price. Doing so is often the choice of more economical individuals, as the presence of honey in all the dishes puts the Cafe on the expensive side.

The cafe is operated by a Mother-Daughter pair of Ursaring. The daughter has a voice and actions that are far too young for her body, which is something that's given more than a few customers a surprise. Usually if either of the two are around serving customers or operating the register, a small strangely red-coloured Swablu is present as well. The little bird often spends it's time within the cafe chirping happily and wiping off unoccupied tables. Of course though, they aren't in the cafe all the time.

User ImageUser Image

The menu contains just about anything you would expect inside of a cafe. Everything from fresh fruit and yogurt to snacks and a light lunch can be found on the menu.

For those who do not wish for my PC's to be involved/present, you are free to staff any number of generic Ursaring for the sake of the roleplay. Control them as you wish.

Steven pushed the wooden door open and was immediately hit by the sweet scent. The first time he had come here it had made him a little bit nauseous as he never ate anything sweet when he was young, but since then he had come to the cafe a number of times and had grown used to the smell however intoxicating it could be.
Come to think of it, he should have asked Ivy how she handled sweet things. Oh well. Young girls liked sweet things, right?
As he came into the cafe, he paused at the door and held it open to allow the Glaceon through before he resumed his hunched walk towards one of the tables.
"Everything in the cafe is served with a bit of honey either mixed or on the side. It's a little bit on the expensive end, but it's good."
Normally he wouldn't eat anywhere this expensive, but he felt a little bit better about needless spending considering the money went to a friend.
Steven stopped just in front of the table and tapped his shell a few times. Much to his relief and pleasure, Christine came out gradually but surely. Her nose wiggled wildly in the air as she caught onto the scent, unsure of what it was or where it was coming from. It was far different from the bland, scentless food that Steven kept with him on journeys. This was something new and foreign, but it was something she liked.
Christine carefully hopped off of the rim of his shell and landed on the table where she promptly sat down and continued quietly sniffing the air.
Steven took a quick glance back at the counter before realizing quickly enough that both Chelsea and Margaret were missing... he would have to find them later.
Well, that was something for another time. For now, it was time to order.
"Whatever you want is fine. I'll foot the bill."
Hopefully she wouldn't order too much... this place DID get expensive.

Ivy

The scent hit her first before anything else. She knew that smell though the name didn't come to her until Steven had said it. Honey!
The cafe itself was very comforting in a sense, she couldn't help but smile as she trotted along behind the Wartortle. She wasn't a big fan of chocolate, but honey and sweets like it were high on her favorite food list. At the very top was caramel, but she prefered it on apples.
The Glaceon hopped gracefully onto the chair opposite Steven and waited while he coaxed Christine out into the open. Ivy smiled, of course that smell would draw anyone out. The Ice Type took a moment to turn her smile to the tiny Sentret before eyeing the menu on the table. There was a LOT of stuff on here, some of which she couldn't imagine with honey in it but clearly if they had a business then the Wartortle's friends knew what they were doing.
One item in particular peeked her curiousity and she placed a paw on the picture so she wouldn't forget what it was when the Ursaring waiter came to the table to take the order. She had considered one of the honey glazed meats, being a carnivore and all but Steven didn't look like the type to eat meat and she wanted to avoid having to explain herself. Despite most of the meat coming from the Pokemon in the Hunting Grounds, it was still a touchy subject with her. That she could be eating the same species as a friend was always disturbing. Whether it was an idiot Pokemon or not.
"This was nice of you, I'm sure everything here is delicious." It was tempting to order a lot since the smell was so inticing but she'd stick to just the fruit salad with the honey syrup. "Your friends seem to have done well for themselves!"
It wasn't easy keeping a business in the Kingdom.

Steven took hold of the menu with two hands and began to look it over carefully. In all honesty, he already knew what was served here more-less. He had been here quite a few times, so to say he didn't know the menu would be a blatant lie. Steven's problem was something else entirely.
He had no idea what Sentret ate. Christine had eaten a few of his mixes and bars while they were traveling to the city but she never seemed thrilled with them. The problem being that it was impossible to tell whether that was because of what they were made of or if it was because they were bland. For all Steven knew, what he had had with him and in his pack could've been what Sentret ate primarily. Or it could be something completely abnormal for them. It was impossible to tell.
Steven tipped the menu downwards slightly when Ivy spoke, though he still glanced over it and occasionally flipped a page as he spoke.
"From what I heard, they were extremely lucky. Apparently they got the place for next to free... I'm not really sure what the story is but they haven't had to pay a cent for the property. Of course, they had to renovate it, hire staff, get a license and everything else so they're in a fair bit of debt at the moment. They had to take out a loan to afford it all, but I did some work for a decent professional once and he agreed to give them a cut rate if I co-signed the debt."
It had been a fairly big leap, especially for him. But after he had gone over everything with Margaret, the business looked to have a fairly good rate of profit and even if things got to their worst they could sell the store and be able to clear all of the debt. He wasn't really worried about her ripping him off, or anything... he'd seen back when he was in the team that she was nothing short of a loving mother.
"Business is going fairly well though. After the payroll, supplies and everything they don't have much money for themselves but it's a profiting business and as soon as the debt is gone they'll make good money."
Eh... what the hell do Sentret's eat...? They had to eat something but whatever they ate it wasn't readily apparent.
He would just have to ask whoever came to serve them. Chances are they had met or seen a Sentret or Furret eat something at some point.
Steven closed his menu and put it down on the table, having long since determined what he himself wanted. When one of the waiters glanced their way, Steven raised his hand slightly in a sort of half-wave. The Ursaring returned the gesture with a nod and in a moment he was on his way over to the table with a small notepad in hand.
"I take it you're ready to order?"
"Yeah. Just a small order of karp with a mixed plate of fruit on the side for me. I need a bit of a favour though." The Ursaring cocked one eyebrow suspiciously, but didn't say anything. "I just picked up this little one in the wild recently and she's not old enough to talk and I'm not familiar with what Sentret eat. I don't suppose you've ever seen one eating before?"
The Ursaring seemed a little bit surprised by the question and responded, at first, by tapping his pen lightly against the top of the notepad.
"I served a Furret once who ordered an assorted plate of tree nuts. Would that be alright?"
Steven gave a nod. That would be fine... he didn't need an optimal choice, just something that the Sentret would be willing to eat.
"Alright then..." The Ursaring paused to add all three to the small pad before looking over to Ivy. "And for you, miss?"

That was lucky. Ivy agreed, upon hearing the story that the business would do well. The only other restaurants around here sold cold food, strange foreign food and primarily deserts. Having a normal menu with a slight variety and optional honey mixed in was clever. They had a signature to their place, that being the honey, but it wasn't forced on anything and you could even as for the items plain. It was smart. Very smart. The Glaceon was pleased to have met Steven if only thanks to discovering a wonderful new cafe to go to. Truth be told, one grew tired of the cold food served at the Frosty Diner. She'd heard the place was pretty much there as a memorial of sorts to the Pokemon that had opened it. A Delcatty she believed, but that was before her time and she never really bothered to look into it.
Her mind drifted back to the situation at hand and she could only guess what it was that was consuming the Wartortle's thoughts.
When the Ursaring arrived and he asked his question, however, things quickly made sense. Ah, he was a new 'father'. She'd almost forgotten he didn't really know anything about his new little Sentret. She was adorable, but the lack of speaking on her part would make things difficult for him.
Still, it was nice he had decided to stick it out. She'd have to ask around and see what kind of other things aside from nuts that Sentret tended to eat and make sure his room was stocked with it.
When she was addressed the Glaceon turned and offered the bear a bright smile. "Just a fruit salad, please~ Easy on the honey syrup."
She liked honey, but too much of a sweet thing could make you ill. She'd learned that the hard way when she'd discovered chocolate as an Eevee.
Uncle Solaris raged for days.
When the large normal type had ambled off she resumed watching Christine sniff about curiously. So cute, she wished she had one. Though, children were a big responsibility. It was no wonder Steven had gone a bit mad with worry.
"So, do you plan to stick to your mercenary work? Since you'll be a 'team' in the guilds you are more than welcome to take missions from there. They tend to have good rewards."

Just a fruit salad, huh? Well, that wouldn't be too bad. Fruit wasn't cheap but she'd gone light on the honey and that would bring the cost down.
Not that he was particularly sure he had the right to even think that way... after all, she was giving him a LOT and expected absolutely nothing in return.
"I'm not sure. Most of my income comes from treasure hunts, but unfortunately it's a dwindling career. There's only so many lost treasures and unspoiled coves in the world... it's eventually going to run out. It's already started to. The number of legends and stories left isn't very large and they're getting further and further away from guild territory. There's still work to be done, but it's getting increasingly dangerous and increasingly time consuming. I can get hired help to keep me safe, but the long journeys makes it an expensive contract and there's always the risk they'll try to off me and take whatever we find for themselves."
Steven was more than a little bitter at the last few words. Evidently it had happened before and probably more than once or twice. The guilds were generally good about who they hired, but there were still some less than kind people within and especially without.
"Mercenary work is getting to be about the same... The whole world seems like it's just ready to explode. For some reason the field is a lot more dangerous lately. It used to be a lot of mundane work... stuff a lot like what the guild handles. It's shifting more and more to the point where people are paying for obviously illegal things though. I've seen more than a few ads requesting an assassin of all things... it's just getting completely crazy. It's like the whole world is ready to descend into chaos but no one really knows when, how or why but they're still preparing for it. "
It was just absolutely nuts lately. Finding safe, reasonable work was getting harder and harder. Of course, there was always an element of risk in the work... it's why it paid so well. But it was just going well and beyond an "element" of risk and getting straight into the suicidal. He would have to be on his last leg to do something like that.
"Of course, it pays well because it's a bit dangerous but... It's getting too dangerous. I think I might end up taking guild work... probably not right away though."
He paused to pat Christine slightly who had, at some point in the conversation, fallen onto her face and started sniffing the table cloth.
Steven seemed to take a sense of joy from the action, as he was smiling while he leaned over to do so.
"I can't really do any work yet. Until she's at least old enough to be left on her own for a little while... I think she'll grow fast, but in the meantime it's dangerous for her to be on her own."
Of course, that went without saying. She was a baby! Any number of things could happen to her.

The Glaceon nodded. The guild missions were taken carefully, arranged in a manner so the more experienced members took the harder missions while the new members took the easier ones. It was a simply system, but effective and it kept the guilds from losing new recruits. They even had a new system for co-op missions that sent more than one team for a particularly difficult assignment. Ivy raised a paw to her chin and tapped it in a thoughtful gesture before speaking again, she'd never been good with words so each sentence had to be thought over before she allowed it to be spoken less she be misunderstood.
"There are...things occuring now, that have sent a few teams running from the guilds in fear of their safety." Her cousin's team was one of them, but they'd come back though for what reason she was unsure.
"The guilds aren't exactly as safe as they should be, but they're far better than anywhere else. At least here you have an entire 'army' behind you and we even have legendary hanging around on our side. If I had to pick a place to face the madness, I'd pick the guilds personally."Though perhaps she was biased, after all, the guilds were all she knew.
The Ice type shrugged her shoulders lightly before flipping the menu closed and pushing it to the side so she could rest her paws on the table top and watch the little Sentret sniff about.
Ivy's tail wagged when the Wartortle showed some sense of affection to the infant Pokemon and she couldn't help but smile at that. He wasn't as stoic as she'd first guessed.
"Don't worry too much, the guild will have you set up until you think she can be on her own. My offer stands to babysit still~"Her tone was joking at the end but she honestly wouldn't have minded.

"Well, all the same. I hope everything clears up soon. If I had a choice, I'd prefer to avoid the 'madness' entirely."
Getting involved with the chaos of the world was never a good idea. He knew that things were rough with the guilds, and though he was fairly certain he knew in reality he didn't quite understand the scope of things. If he had known otherwise he probably wouldn't have accepted her offer to begin with...
Not that he was quite sure it was the "best place" even then. The wild was rough, but if you had your wits about you it wasn't that bad since the only ones trying to kill you were the pokemon already there. You never had pokemon coming in from other places actively searching for you in an effort to kill you.
He glanced over towards the kitchen and took on an expectant smile as he grabbed Christine by the back of the neck and picked her up to put her on her behind. The little Sentret responded by waving her arms in an effort to stretch forward enough to grab a hold of the cloth, but in spite of her concerned whine she was perfectly fine once she was sat back down on her butt.
"Once she's a little bit older. I'd like to keep an eye on her until she can at least speak."
It would be more obvious after a moment, but from the direction the Wartortle glanced came a fairly large Ursaring with an appropriately large tray in hand.

"I'm sure everything will be fine~" Ivy comforted, despite not knowing to full details of the whole thing. A lot of Pokemon were working on it though, and they had a lot of legendary to help them so things were bound to get better eventually. Right?
The Glaceon could make no further comment when she spotted the Ursaring approach with the tray in hand and her eyes lit up in delight at the prospect of food. Now that she thought about it, she was fairly hungry. The honey was the most powerful of the scents that she could catch and her mouth watered involuntarily though thankfully she didn't do anything as embarrassing as drool. She waited patiently, offering the large bear a sweet smile as it set the tray down and then excused himself.
Ivy eyed the tray with a smile and leaned forward to sniff at what she assumed was her bowl, with it's fruit arrangement and side of honey for her to sprinkle on the top.
She didn't mean to be rude, but the second food was present all conversation ended. The Ice Type raised a paw to hook through the handles of the pitcher holding the honey to drizzle some over her salad.
Proper ettiquette called for her to wait for Steven first and to maintain a proper posture while she-to hell with it.
The Glaceon, ignoring the forks which were a hassle when one lacked fingers, dipped her muzzle to the bowl to nibble at her food in the manner of a canine.

Steven & Christine

Steven gave a grateful nod as the three dishes were put down in front of him, choosing instead to keep his silence and allow lunch to continue in silence. The karp in front of him glistened under the lights above him, a sure sign that the fish had been given a honey glaze in lieu of any kind of dipping sauce. He carefully pulled the plate in towards him while simultaneously gently pushing the other plate out to Christine. The small bowl filled with fruit was simply left to reset between them, no doubt for afterwards.
The plate was a little... odd to say the least. It was a soft plastic with a small, round indentation where a small cup of honey rested. The lime green "dish" was obviously not exactly suited for the food that was served inside of it, as it had an odd ovular shape cut out that made it look as if it were made for a much more varied meal. The base seemed to be hardened slightly, as it was stiff enough to form a solid flat surface.
Christine took a few steps towards the pile of nuts before sitting down, leaning over and munching lightly on one of her own accord.
Steven responded in turn by taking his fork and knife and carefully cutting off a piece of karp before lightly slipping his fork into the meat and picking it up for a bite. Steven was always careful to mind his manners. It was something that his father had beaten into him through repeated lessons and he took it to heart. If you were having dinner with someone you knew, you owed them the respect and if you were having dinner with someone you didn't then it was always a good way to make a nice impression.
Though that wasn't to say he really minded how she ate. He had gotten used to it from his time on the team... not all of them were the cleanest eaters.
A moment later and his jaws came to a slow halt as he watched the Sentret before he finally swallowed and put down his cutlery.
With care he reached forward and plucked the nut from Christine's hand, prompting a concerned and confused whine from the Sentret. She leaned forward in an effort to steal the nut back from Steven, though she was quickly stopped by a much larger hand pressing lightly against her face. In one quick motion, the nut was dipped half way into the honey and then given back to the young Sentret.
The act ceased the whining, only to be replaced by repeated glances back and forth between the nut and Steven. After the moment of confusion, she carefully put the nut into her mouth and began to eat.
Christine's eyes widened and her tail started smacking against the table like a metronome. The light, constant thumping was accompanied by the light sound of chittering as she devoured the nut in very little time before shuffling forward on her behind and sticking her hand directly into the honey.
She quickly begin sucking the semi-viscous liquid off her hand before she reached back in for more, only to be halted by the same hand as before. The Sentret's hands kept reaching forward as her tail fell slack and she let out a loud, confused whine. Steven simply ignored it as he picked up one of the nuts in his free hand and dipped it into the honey before giving it to Christine's outstretched and waving hands. She glanced down at it before looking at Steven with a confused stare.
Confused or not though, it didn't stop her from quickly devouring it and reaching for more honey only to be met by the same hand. The hand withdrew after a moment leaving the Sentret behind to determine the "rules", so to speak. After a few moments of constantly glancing between Steven, the nuts and the honey she carefully picked up one of the nuts. Her motions were slow and choppy as she constantly glanced between the three sources. She slowly leaned forward and dipped the end of the nut in the honey before sharply pulling back and eating it quickly.
A second nut was grabbed just as carefully and was moved over slowly between the intermittent glances, only to be dipped and devoured in the same way.
Steven gave smiled and nodded as Christine happily set to repeating the action as fast as she could. The bounce came back to her tail and the steady thumping once again filled the area; she had learned the rules of the moment and while she didn't really quite understand why she HAD to do it, she knew well enough that doing it was the only way she was going to get any of the honey.
With a smile still on his face, Steven picked up his fork and knife and continued eating in silence.

Chelsea

Chelsea slipped out of the kitchen and towards one of the tables with a serving tray in each hand. Plates and cutlery were hastily put down on the tables before she darted off to another table and back towards the register to deal with a rather impatient looking Poliwhirl. The past two hours had been... rough. It was around 1:30 now and the workload was finally beginning to peter out as the lunchtime rush left the cafe. Normally it wasn't this bad, of course... They had had the significant misfortune of having two people call in sick at the same time with no hope of getting a replacement in time. As a result, everyone was working substantially harder than they would normally have to and things were rushed through. It wasn't a good day for the restaurant, all things considered. They'd had more than a few dissatisfied customers, though on the same note they'd had enough that were understanding of the predicament. Thankfully, things were finally starting to calm down and it wouldn't be long before she could finally afford to sit down for a moment. Ursaring weren't the most graceful or spry of creatures and the constant, quick movements and dextrous use of trays had been rather draining.

Epitaph

Reeling back into her daily life came easy for the large Flareon. It wasn't like she herself took much injury that fight that took place, somehow, months ago from this day. There were still looks, sure, but she honestly couldn't care less. Actually, she was still fairly disconnected from reality. More so than usual so the stares may as well have not existed at all. Since their return the first thing done was visiting her so hopeless daughters' grave, sitting there for a few hours, then going about her way within the guild. It was her first time out and about since and, to this moment, the Fire type kept a muted expression.
Epitaph wandered the streets, humming to herself quietly though otherwise silent. She picked a door at random and pushed it open carefully with her head before stepping in and coming still; the soft humming coming to a halt as she silently skimmed the restaurant with her eyes. It wasn't until she heard the door shut behind her that the Flareon decided to simply waltz in, pick a seat by a window and stare out it. Her ears made slight turning motions as her attention had be halved between staring at various unknown faces and the noises within the restaurant. It was a calming barrier.

Chelsea, much to her... lack of delight found that she wasn't allowed to sit at all. No, that wouldn't do. Sitting was for people who had time to take a break, she didn't have time to take a break; not today. The Ursaring got back onto her feet and grabbed a menu along with a glass of water and walked towards the Flareon before quietly sliding the menu onto the table and placing the glass down. "Will anyone else be joining you today?" It was a polite but to-the-point question that one would expect her to ask, all things considered. She would need to prepare more things if the Flareon was having company, and it was always hard to tell.

Epitaph

The Flareon gave a sudden blink at the question and quickly turned her head to meet the Ursaring. Epitaph's immediate thought was not her inquiry, but now she missed something so large approaching. She held her silence, though for how long she was unaware before flashing a quick, simple smile. "No, it's just me, thank you." She added nothing more to her reply as she turned to look back out the window; her expression muting again as if on cue. How awkward the moment could have been went over her head completely. Actually the Flareon wasn't hungry at all. She merely wanted a place to sit and stare off mindlessly.

Chelsea gave a nod and left the menu where it was. "Just close the menu when you're ready to order." The Ursaring of voice too high and mind too young for her large, lumbering body walked back towards the counter and into the kitchen before disappearing from sight. Epitaph was left in her comfortable silence, undisturbed and untouched by the people around her. The menu rested in front of her and a small tray with straws and condiments rested to the side, should she desire them.

The solitude wouldn't last forever, however. Whether or not the absentminded Epitaph would notice the Ursaring's call from the kitchen a few minutes later was one thing, but she would definitely notice what came not long after. A high-pitched but pleasant chirp would sound from just below her before, suddenly, the Flareon would feel a light weight on the back of her neck. There would be some rustling as the Flareon's fur was rearranged against her will and little else.
