Man, I'm in a mood now. I just had a discussion with one of our analysts that is leading me to believe that my position may be in the works for either a huge change or possible expunction. Either way, it's probably not good news. To make matters worse, this analyst doesn't particularly like me, and if my job goes...she'll be the one to do my job.
I went to the boss to see if he knew of any plans in the works, and he basically implied that we're seeing a lot of changes and it wouldn't surprise him. He said it wasn't on his radar yet, but that when things settled out, there was no telling. Finally, he told me that he was pretty much trying to save some jobs. I know that doesn't mean mine--he means management, and he means his job.
I am not a happy camper.

P.S. I'm going to add you to my friends list, 'kay? You don't have to accept if you don't want.I am an "administrative assistant" but I really do a lot of number crunching and data analysis. I do all the commissions for my department, so the sales people don't have to do 'em. I'm no good at traditional admin roles. I'm hoping that I can use this as an opportunity to either 1) find a job doing some sort of project coordination or 2) working myself into some other capacity here...which is less likely, imho. And add away! Any Andrew Eldritch fan, and thoughtful human is good in my book. *hugs*

*snuggles Ashahis back*
Thanks for the hugs and warm fuzzies. I think I need 'em. I'll get my ducks in a row, and make a plan of attack soon. Maybe after Khall goes home, I can concentrate my efforts to find a new dig, just in case things do go awry.

Get Khall to help out. After all, every intergalactic despot should have someone behind him telling him to take out the trash for them.

You're lucky, Jiggy. I wish I had someone to do those kinds of things for me...
Where can I find a despot of my own?

Sadly, he's only here for a few more days...but still...if you were here, I'd offer to share my despot. He's pretty handy.

I just had to laugh at the first option on your poll, Jiggy, because working, for me, right now, IS an evil pit of despair.
I live with all the job jockeying, manipulative machinations too, people trying to save their own asses, and willing to throw everybody else under the bus to do it. I work for a very large international company, and we have the accompanying periodic RIFs. For those of you fortunate enough to be unfamiliar with the term RIF, it means "Reduction In Force", and basically refers to a gleeful time when people randomly get laid off just for breathing the company's air. We have them a couple times a year, it seems. RIFs seem to me to be something like the plague -- you never know why they take some and not others, there's absolutely no rhyme or reason to it.
Anyway, Jiggy, good luck. Best to start looking for something else. Even if you don't get axed this go around, it's depressing to be around all that negativity. Who needs it? heart

Who needs it? heart Yeah I think my boss is silently covering up the RIF possibilities, for fear of losing his own job. He's made no bones about that. He also apologized to me for coming off as seeming uncaring about my situation which was a nice gesture. He's a really good guy, and he knows that things may not stay the same forever...he's heading toward retirement in a few years, and he's maybe going to lose benefits if he gets the axe himself. So I understand the pressure. Thanks for the sympathy, Fresnel. And the sage advice, as usual! heart

If it's not a job you enjoy then it's not a total loss. It'll give you a chance to maybe find something better. Like I say it's not really a job unless it's fun!!
Good luck with your situation and may it all work out for the best xd

<@~{Seize the Night}~@> Ah, wisdom comes from unexpected places sometimes! blaugh _of_, it's simple and brilliant, but something we working stiffs forget sometimes, we are in such a panic to hold on to what we have.
