To be honest, Verin didn't really hate this job. It was one of the few where she actually couldn't wear her mask since it required her face to be fully visible, but aside from that inconvenience it was fairly pleasant. Mostly people just ignored you completely and continued walking, or took a handout without even noticing they were doing so. No one bothered to talk to you. It was mindless work that required little more than eye contact, and perhaps guilting people into taking something they weren't really interested in. The pay was terrible, sure, and there were other things she could have been doing... but those other things weren't going to make her any money at all, so handing out promotional material for that new place down in the art district was still a better option. Verin didn't believe in "days off" and that was why she found herself outside the gates of this most venerable academy... whatever it was called.

"Tea and art," she parroted with as much enthusiasm as she could muster (which was none at all) as she shoved a flyer at the nearest passer by. Even with the sudden mass exodus of students from their just-ended classes, Verin wasn't getting much attention. They flowed around her like water. Didn't university students like this kind of stuff? Maybe a law school wasn't exactly the best place to tap the "artistic" crowd, but surely they still had need of coffee and a new place to waste time. She wondered if political parties didn't try handing out propaganda this way - surely this would be the perfect target audience for that.

"Tea and art," said the Book Child once more. As an unfortunate student passed too close Verin thrust the paper out toward him so fast she nearly ended up punching him with it. "Just... take a flyer," she said, looking ready to die of boredom.

Myopia trudged from the doors of his place of study, antennae slightly wilted as he rubbed one eye with one finger. Then he let his arms hang at his sides, letting himself sort of drift in the current of exiting students. The lecture today had been dull the first time he had sat through it; multiple runs of the semester later, it had become nearly intolerable. But this was why he dug in his heels, Myopia reminded himself - he really did not want to be a lawyer, and had no intent to finish what he had started. There had to be tortured artists, always, and damned if the mothman was going to let his community go without.

The clear voice of someone calling out about "tea and art" came as sudden music to his ears; perhaps Myopia had missed it the first several times the lady with the flyers had shouted it. But he was close enough to see her now between his shadowy classmates, and so he took up control of his movements again to make his way crosswise towards her.

Extending his arms like he would to embrace a long-lost brother, Myopia reached for the sheet of paper the Book Child held. As his fingertips contacted the page, his book satchel slipped from his shoulder - lending further, he hoped, to the image of him emerging from the crowds to long-awaited happiness, like a traveller returning from an arduous journey - and Myopia sighed, "User Image"

Then relaxed his dramatic stance suddenly to stand normally while he scanned the contents of the flyer. He glanced up after a moment with a smile on his lips, to see how the Child was reacting to his entrance. Surely, none of his dull, drab classmates had responded with such enthusiasm to her yet this afternoon!

"Ah-"

It was about the only sound Verin could manage to make in response to Myopia's beautifully choreographed emergence from the crowd. The throngs of students were parting around the both of them without any fuss, unperturbed that the obstacle which had been just one person blocking the way had become two. No one save Verin seemed to notice or care about Myopia's dramatic performance and Verin, though she'd certainly noticed, wasn't entirely sure how to take it. The way she stood, rigid and looking almost as if she had started to recoil from him, wasn't an encouraging sign.

"Yes," she said, slowly. "It's... tea. And art. And coffee, as well. Very- interesting."

No, she wasn't going to get paid extra if someone mentioned they'd heard about the establishment through her. It didn't really make sense for her to try any harder than she had already. He'd taken the flier, that was about the limit of her responsibility... but the way he stood there, engaged with her, stirred up those annoying feelings of obligation and duty that sometimes reared their inconvenient little heads. Though the expression on her face made it clear she thought he might be mocking her outright, she was a firm believer in giving what you got. Every encounter was an exchange.

"Musicians are supposed to come and play at the end of each week," added the Book Child, tucking the remaining pieces of paper under her arm. He had the look of someone that this business might most appeal to, but that didn't stop Verin from suspiciously scrutinizing the moth-like City Person. She was practically side-eying him at this point. Well, there was no point in beating around the bush. "Are you... actually interested in this?"

Either not noticing or not regarding her uncertain stance, Myopia leaned closer to peer at the remaining fliers in her hand. "Tea and art and coffee, yes, yes," he mused, then exited her personal space again when she tucked the remaining pages under her arm. "The usual combination, I know, but if there is art, then maybe someone will come up with something new to serve to drink there."

His antennae perked up at the mention of musicians as well, and he grinned. "Still, though, there is a reason why art and music and tea and coffee so often go hand in hand. It could be a new experience with every cup, right?" The light of Myopia's eyes disappeared and reappeared again as he blinked at her then, taken slightly aback at her question in reply.

"Interested? Of course!" He made a sweeping gesture back towards the building he had just exited. "It could not possibly be more boring than all that goes on in there?" Even the building looked bored with itself, the moth-man thought.

"Tell me," he went on, antennae now arching towards the Book Child again with curiosity. "You have been to this establishment before, if you are advertising for it, yes? what do you think of it?" The lamplighter also saw this as an exchange ... and obviously one that was not close to over. He wanted to learn more about this place, as much as he could, so he could make his decision whether or not to attend as a well-informed Citizen. "Do you enjoy it there? The tea and coffee, are they good? The musicians, original?"
