Now that the pale lioness had made the decision with her Uchanjaa to have their own cubs despite what confusion was still going on in the pride, she found herself wondering at the prospect; even Uchanjaa had more experience with cubs than her.
Though this thought was silly, she still felt embarrassed for this - she was usually on top of things, as that was a part of her mentality since she was raised. She spent her life preparing for things, but this... Was this something one could prepare for? Motherhood?
So the pale figure wandered through the pride on her off day; some day in the past, she may have asked Khathelela herself, but with all the political matters occurring in the pride, she knew that family and those related were busy with their own interpersonal affairs. She pondered also seeking out Nkosazana, but then realized that it was a little bit of a different situation, as there was no Uchanjaa to her to be there. She bit her lips, turning her head around and about. Who could she talk to, though?

Weyard had taken the news of the disappearances hard. She hadn't been a member of the pride terribly long, but in that time she'd finally become settled in and able to relax. This had become her home, and now something was making people disappear. Her young family was likely in no danger, but still it worried her. She redoubled her efforts to guard the borders, pacing about like she was expecting an attack any moment. Her family had finally become a family, she wasn't going to let anything break them apart.
She was coming back from her patrol when she spotted the pale lioness near her den. Her hair rose, and she felt her ears laying back. Okay, so the female wasn't right by the den, in fact, she was closer to other lions' dens than her own...But her cubs were sleeping in her den...She forced herself to relax. She'd seen the female before too, though they hadn't met, she was fairly certain.
Eager now to be home and to check on her three precious babies, she trotted quickly by, nodding curtly to the female, and slipped down into the den she shared with her mate and their offspring. One, two, three...all three were present. Sleeping soundly. Perfect. She scooped one up, Anthias, and slid back up the run of the den. The light outside woke him, and he mewled, but she set to bathing him and he quickly quieted.

Suddenly, she felt someone watching her, perhaps even warily. She turned to spot a pink lioness, not immediately recalling her name. It was one of the recent members, before all of this turmoil had started. However, the pink lioness was admitted to the pride right before she became Nurse Priestess, thus the two hadn't gotten that much acquainted yet. It was curious that she felt a layer of suspicion cast over herself, but maybe the stress of these days was just making her imagine it.
She began to walk further out again, but couldn't help but hear a tiny mew come out from the den the pink lioness went. Weyard, she believed, was the name. As much as she was dedicated to her job, she dedicated to the pride - and trying to remember all within it the Great Lion protected was one of those factors. Still, she admittedly was more reclusive and shy than most, keeping to her den most of the time, which made her not on close friends terms with anyone. In fact, the closest thing she had to call for a best friend was her sister-in-law, Nkosazana, who even then was too busy with her own affairs.
Either way, she trotted over to Weyard's den with an anxious smile. The cub Weyard was holding was undeniably her own, and the sight was rather touching.
"Weyard, right?" she asked softly, stopping at a comfortable distance, yet close enough to see the small one's eyes, "I don't know if you remember my name or not - you are a guard, and I think Uchanjaa's said something about you once or so when he had regular guard duties too, but..."
It seemed like she was asking for a proposal or something. She knew he was being strange, but her formalities were just so ingrained, that she did not know another way to approach Weyard.
"I do apologize for disturbing you, especially in these dire moments. I am glad that your family were not a part of the disappearances... thoughts of what could have happened with Shira and Miakoda still frighten me, but I am positive the Great Lion has kept an ever more vigilant watch since their tragedies."

Weyard tensed midly as the lioness she'd been eying earlier came her way, but she seemed friendly enough, and somewhat formal. And apparently interested in her child. That also made her nervous, but that had little to do with the disappearances. She had her own reasons, past demons she'd tried to bury but that still came to light from time to time. This wasn't her first litter.
"Yes...Weyard." She licked the cub and looked balefully up at the lioness. "You know me, but I don't think I've met you. It's been a process, learning all the names of people. Perhaps I have met your Uchanjaa...lately though I've been too busy to be social. Between the vanishings and my sons. I'm sure you understand."
She groomed the cub a while more, and he mewled, then settled, soothed by his mother's touch. Once he moved to stand, but wobbled unsteadily and flopped back over between her paws. "Shira and Miakoda...are those your cubs? I wasn't sure anyone else had had a litter recently. I would hope the Great Lion's been watching them as well as he has my own."

She sensed some uncertainty from Weyard - it was new to her, but yet, she could understand it, considering how this was a newly initiated rogue who joined their ranks to suddenly run into trouble with the pride's drama and disappearances. While it was not out of the question to be suspicious, she did not think that anyone within the pride itself was a cause of the disappearances, not like how Dusana was...
"I am Kibetinyota," she offered, "The Nurse Priestess. I initiate rogues into our lands and watch over them while the Great Lion is deciding their place, but I was offered the position after you joined, so we could not have a more personal meeting. I do understand, Weyard, and I do not mean to take much of your time."
She said apologetically, "But I would just like a few more words with you."
She was glad, at least, that she did not stop the mother from taking care of her child. Kibetinyota even offered a smile when he fell over from trying to stand; it was a wonder how little cubs could do, and yet how much they meant to a mother.
"Oh, I have no cubs," she explained, "Shira and Miakoda are who initiated you into the pride. They are the ones who... disappeared. I worked alongside them, until now..."
Kibetinyota understood that Weyard must have misheard her and did not mean to speak as if Shira and Miakoda were still among them, but the thought that Weyard did not remember was just slightly humorous to lighten the situation just a tad bit.
"But let us not speak gravely with little ones around. I would like to know something... from a mother's standpoint, if I may ask?"
