Kaym'itan was groomed, once again, within an inch of his life as he waited at the base of home tree for his atokirina to appear from tucking their cubs into their hammock for the night. His beloved had somehow managed to secure a night nanny to watch over their small army of kits so that he and she could enjoy this evening together.
Lately it had seemed like they had such little time together, between his duties, their cubs, and his and Toruk's search for the white lion that had hurt her so badly. They had just come in from such a patrol, and he was born weary when his king and his best friend had told him to take time to spend with his beloved. He couldn't thank them enough. He missed Ru with all his heart, and was beginning to fear that he would never find the dangerous lion that ran along their borders, no matter how weary he and Torurk made their paws.
All he wished was a night with her, in the jungle, with all its beauty, and hers.

To say that Ru had been busy was quite the understatement. Sure, the young heirs and heiresses had grown, and now did their duties for the pride, the baby-sitter still had nine rambunctious cubs she had to watch. The best part about that, was that they were her cubs. Her and her beloved mate Kaym’s. Eywa had truly graced them with the nine young lives. Every day, she watched the youngsters. She always said they were growing right before her eyes. Soon they’d be old enough to leave the hammock alone, and do their own pridal jobs just like cubs before them.
It had been a few moons since Ru had given birth, and already whatever weight she had gained from bearing the nine cubs was trimmed down to almost her normal size. Her practicing on the tree limbs when the other sitters would watch her babies helped with that.
Tonight though…tonight would be special. She didn’t know how long it really had been since she had seen Kaym. It seemed like a lifetime. Once everyone was tucked safe and sound in the beautifully crafted nest, the bright white lioness maneuvered the limbs until she was on the ground, trotting happily to her beloved.
It didn’t take long for her to see him, his bright shiny blue coat that seemed to gleam against the jungle life. A bright smile appeared on her maw, as butterflies fluttered wildly in her stomach. Oh how she had missed him.

Kaym'itan's crimson gaze fell on her as she came slipping along the tree branches, her white coat gleaming in the bioluminscent hues of their jungle home. A gentle smile came to his muzzle, one that reached his eyes as she came up to him.
One large paw came up, inviting her to slip under it, so he could pull her close against him. He had missed holding her, having her near him. He wanted to breath in her scent, to have her once more pressed against him.
They both had become so tied up in their roles to the Pride and in the raising of the kits at different times of the day. His nights were spent keeping the borders safe, her days were spent teaching the next generation of their Pride.
Where was the time for them?
