Place: Huntington Park Who: Lassie, Kip Weather: Nice and sunny.
“Now, now, Kippy poo, don’t struggle so,” said the slim figure of Miss Anabella Barkleigh as she carried the restless pet in her arms. “We’ll be there soon enough and I daresay that you’d like to meet some friends there,”
Kip barked and squirmed in the loving but rather skinny arms of his owner. All this fuss just to visit the park? The mokai whined. First there was the brushing. Then there was the powdering (Can’t have my weetle Kippy poo getting fleas~) and if that was not enough, there was even the flossing!. Kip honestly could not see where his owner was coming from with this but apparently it was essential that they do it before meeting the other mokai pet owners. To Miss Anabella, this seemed almost ritualistic and Kip tried his hardest to stay still; only up to the point just before Miss Anabella decided that he’d look cute in a large pink bow. That was when he decided to put his paw down and would absolutely not cooperate with his owner. Finally giving up, Miss Anabella had Kip wait in the living room while she freshened up.
With one thing or another, the duo finally left for the park late in the morning. Kip was rather disappointed in his owner’s lack of timing. This close to the afternoon meant that many Mokai and their owners would be back home already.
Hastily leaping out of his owner’s arms the minute she had stepped into the park, Kip ran to the nearest gathering place that he knew. With his bushy tail wagging, Kip began searching the area, hoping that he’d find a new friend there.

The Mokai ran around her little girls feet, darting and yapping around as she leaped in the air. The little girls giggles were neverending as she watched her pet play. She loved coming to the park, but most of all she loved bringing Lassie.
The little brown pet wagged her fluffy, well cared for tail as she stared up at the redhead. Her little girl was probably her favorite thing about life, except the park of course. She loved the park, maybe more than she loved anything else. But bouncing around her feet caused the youngster to trip, and she fell to the earth, and was soon in tears. Lassie stopped wagging her tail, and cocked her head to the side. Stepping closer, she licked the little cheek before pulling back when the girl ran to her mothers side. Well. There was only so much she could do after all! A worried gaze on her face quickly dissapated as she turned to stare out at the grass.
She had been here for awhile today, and she noticed the sun was high in the sky meaning that the evening would soon follow. She didnt wanna go home! Not yet!
She saw the other pet, and a goofy grin came over her face, her tongue hanging out of her maw.
"Hey there!" She called excitedly..Probably a little TOO excited for her own good.

Alert ears pricked up at the sound of a friendly, if a little too enthusiastic welcome. Wagging his tail Kip turned to see where his new play friend was.
There she is!
With an excited yelp, Kip bounded over to the brown pet with an equally silly grin on his face. “Hi! “ barked Kip grinning good naturedly as he approached the other; small feet skidding to a halt merely inches from where the other stood. “I’ve never met you before! Are you new?!”
Up close, the brown female was a rather fetching little thing and Kip was interested in meeting her acquaintance. If only he did not smell like a ton of flea powder…

Lassie was groomed regularly, and today was no exception. Her pelt smelled of the cologne that a groomer uses after a fresh trim. She was the essence of a pampered lap dog. She wagged her tail, bouncing in place almost as he stepped closer. She leaned in to sniff him, and squinched her nose.
"Do you have fleas?" She asked. Better to ask first than be sorry later! She hated the buggers. But that didnt stop her from smiling at him and tilting her head to the other side.
"I'm Lassie! Im not really new.. But I dont get to come here as often as Id like." She responded, her eyes turning towards the human family that were busy coddling their 'injured' daughter.
"What do you go by anyway?" She asked with a smile.

Kip coloured at the other’s mention of fleas. “No, I do not,” said Kipper with a shake of his head. “Miss Anabella just...does not want me catching them off others,”
And that was the truth. His owner had always been more of the preventive kind. She’d even fed him vitamins on a regular basis to ward off the ‘harmful germs’ as she called it. Kip felt that at times, his owner was just being silly.
“You can call me Kip or Kipper,” said Kipperdale Ignatius Peabody. “I...have a longer name but it’s kind of embarrassing,”
“It’s great to meet you though Lassie! How do you do? Do you like bones?” yelp Kipper, now that the formalities were out of the way.

"Good. I dont want fleas. Then Id have to have another bath." She groaned as she rolled her eyes. As much as she didnt mind baths she still didnt want to get another one so soon! "Youre safe around me. Im kept immaculate. Whatever that means, but Jessamine's mother says that alot. It must me good." She said with a tail wag.
"Well hello Kip! Its a pleasure to meetcha. I was hoping to meet someone interesting today. Looks like I did." She smiled, and cocked her head at his question.
"I do pretty well.. I think.. How do you do?" She asked, obviously not quite getting the question.
"I love bones!" She perked, and grinned. "Do you have one?"

Kip couldn’t help making a face when the word ‘bath’ was mentioned. He hated baths! They made you smell funny and you couldn’t run around much afterwards. Miss Anabella was very firm about that.
“Immaculate...,” said Kip, wagging his tail as he thought. “Nah, never heard of the word but if your humans say it’s good then it is,” said Kip with a wide grin. “They are the ones fussing around with all this...funny business after all,”
"I love bones!"
"Do you have one?"
Kip’s tail stopped wagging momentarily when Lassie asked if he had a bone. Truth be told, he had several but...would he be willing to share them? He had only met this new female after all and...what if she ran away with it? But oh! It was not polite to say that and it’s bad to lie!
“I have one,” said Kip after a while. “Follow me!”
Having said that, the little mokai began trotting towards a couple of overgrown hedges. He kept a medium sized bone there and Kip figured he could spare this lady one. “It’s a finely aged bone!” said Kip proudly, referring to a bone that had been gnawed on countless of times and smelled rather like that dead rat he had once found. And rolled in. And made Miss Anabella scream...

She saw the face, and couldn't say she blamed him. She only liked baths if she knew she was dirty. The thought of getting one when she was perfectly content with herself just wasn't a pleasant idea. She made her own face, but shook it off as she returned her gaze to the Pet in front of her.
"It's better than 'Nonono, get off the couch.' I hate hearing that." She chuckled, her curled tail wagging as she couldnt contain her excitement. She loved meeting others, no matter what they were. She didn't want to be seen with a cull, or a fighter.. But she would speak to them if she had to. She knew they were just poor Mokai that needed attention too.
She thought for a moment, cocking her head as her eyes ticked up. Then she sighed, shook her head and looked a bit defeated.
"No, my bone is at home. I was too afraid to bring it." She pouted. She was about to go all 'woe is me', but thats when he mentioned having bones. Her ears perked, and a grin appeared on her features.
She kept up with him pretty easily, and when he walked into the bushes, she stopped and refused to go in. She supposed that he would bring one out to her. Bushes had dirt! And again her idea of the bath made her shudder.
Her nose squinched at the smell, but a bone was a bone. She couldn't deny these things. Lowering her maw she started chewing on it and then smiled when she lifted her head.
"You are like magic! Pulling bones out of thin air." She smiled.

Kip tilted his head with some surprise. His owner had never asked him to get off the couch. But then again, Miss Anabella never did silly things like that. Miss Anabella was alright like that but Kip was aware that there were some owners who were considerably fussier.
Tail wagging and chest puffed out, Kip nodded as he watched the other chew on the bone. He was awesome like that. It helped that he had a friend to secure all these awesome bones for him. The price was a food trade but it was food worth trading as Tramp was capable of securing the biggest and smelliest bones Kipperdale had ever seen.
“So...how often do you some here?” the small mokai asked, tail wagging as he did so. “We come here pretty often but this is the first time that I’ve seen you,”

She wished she had never been told to get off the couch. In her mind, if the little human could sit on it, she was far dirtier than Lassie usually ever was. She huffed, trying to get the thought out of her mind as she continued chewing on the bone that had been brought out to her.
"I come here a lot with my human girl. She's sweet, but she is always pulling my tail. Why do they always pull tails?" She asked, her attention momentarily pulled away from the bone between her paws.
"But I'm usually told to stay by her side, and that keeps me from meeting anyone these days." She pouted.
