A lot had been happening recently and Raziel was somewhat wound up over it all. He had found out exactly what kind of monster he was and had learned new things about his species too. At the same time he had met a nice ghoul named Xiu who had helped him with that, she seemed so nice and helpful and he felt like she could help him with any kind of problem he had.

But he had also met another ghoul, Beatrix, and that's why he was in such a flustered mood now. He really had no idea what to do about her and he wasn't even sure of himself. He had always been with other boils, but now, a ghoul. He was questioning how well he even knew himself and he needed someone to help him.

Earlier, Raziel had left a note for Xiu in her mailbox, asking her to meet him in a secluded spot by the pond. That way they could talk in private where nobody would find them. He was already there waiting and hoping that she would come to help him.

It wasn't long before Xiu was there, she waved as she came closer and Raziel gave a small wave back, not wanting to attract undue attention to them. "Hey Xiu! I've been.. alright," he said, pausing slightly to decide exactly how he had been after all. "How have you been?" Raziel wanted to get into the reason for this meeting, but he wasn't entirely sure how to start into all of it. Everything was much more complicated than he ever wanted it to be.

He wracked his brain for ideas on how to begin this conversation, unsure if it was even going to help him in the end. After all, he didn't even know what he wanted out of it, he just figured that Xiu would be able to help like last time.

Raziel had been slowly losing himself to his own thoughts on how to approach the subject with Xiu, and had almost forgotten that she was there. When she said she was always there to listen, Raziel was thankful and looked at with a faint smile on his face.

"Well you see.. " he began, "It's difficult, because it's not something that I'm used to talking about. And the reason I wanted to talk with you about it is because you were so helpful with finding out my race before." He stopped, wondering if he should tell the ghoul his history first and explain why it's difficult or the other way around or what.

With a heavy sigh he began again, "It has to do with this ghoul... I met her just recently, and I don't know what to do." He was being purposefully vague because he truly disliked talking about such things and was hoping that she might just read his mind or something. That would be a thousand times easier.

Unfortunately, Xiu was not a mind reader, so Raziel would just have to get over himself and tell her plain and simple. Or at least somehow.. out loud. This was going to be a challenge. Sighing again to try and regain some amount of composure he said, "Yes, a ghoul."

He partially hoped that she would just ask questions and he would answer and she would figure it out that way, almost identical to how she helped him find his race, but alas that was probably not what would happen.

"I've always liked boils before!" he blurted out, getting frustrated with himself, "There was Calder and Onibi and others before, but this is different and I don't understand!" He was probably scaring the poor ghoul at this point with his sudden loudness and hint of anger. He collapsed to sitting on the ground, hugging his knees against his chest with an angry glare on his face. He could feel his ears turning red and the blush starting to darken over his cheeks. He sat there exactly like this for a few minutes, breathing somewhat heavily. With one long final breath, he relaxed his face and turned his head towards Xiu, "I just.. don't know what to do," it was almost pathetic how he sounded in that moment, but that's how he felt, pathetic.

He looked at her, as she asked her question. He wasn't sure how ghouls and boils weren't different. "Well.. boils are different than ghouls," he was failing miserably at explaining this to her. "Ghouls are just different." and that was about all he could get out that would be coherent on that subject.

"It's just that I always thought that I liked boils, but now I'm not sure.." he finally managed to get out. "It's like I don't even know myself anymore. I don't know what I want or like or don't and and I'm just so lost." He put his head to his knees, feeling somewhat exhausted after all of this.

The comforting touch of Xiu's hand on his shoulder made him feel a lot better, and her words of advice were, as he expected, exceedingly helpful. He couldn't help it, she was amazing with advice and a good friend to boot. Her good mood was infectious and despite his tantrum earlier, he found himself smiling back at her.

"Thank you so much," he said just before he wrapped his arms around her into a hug. "Your'e an amazing friend." He released her from his hug and looked at her for a few moments longer before saying, "There's something I want to ask of you." A smile played across his lips, this time it wasn't advice that he wanted, but something much more important.

Raziel was glad that everything seemed so easy, he felt as though now he could tell Xiu almost anything if he needed to. The weird part was how simply this relationship had started off in the library. It seemed almost comical now how they met. Raziel couldn't help but smile a bit wider and join in her laughter.

At her confused expression, Raziel couldn't help but giggle a little bit more, she hadn't seen him in an entirely good mood at all any time they'd met, so he could understand why she might be concerned if he had yet another thing to ask of her. "Um... well, I was wondering if you might like to be my best friend."

He didn't give any reasoning or anything at all, just left it plain and simple as it was. He hoped as hard as he could that she would say yes though.

Not one to take things lightly, Raziel prompted, "Promise?" and held out his pinky for a swear. He felt bad for making her promise this kind of thing, but he wanted to be absolutely sure.

He was excited to have a best friend, and even more excited that they would soon be going on the school field trip as part of the same group. Everything was going fantastic! Soon he would be taking his exam and moving up to Year Two, he was going to do something about Beatrix, the Field Trip would be exciting and fantastic! So many good things to come, how could he have even bothered to be sad about anything?!
