FFX HD has been announced for the Playstation Vita, Sony's next handheld gaming system that has been announced to be released in Japan late December and in the US early Q1, most likely January. Any thoughts or hopes for this remake? Any improvements you hope they made to the game?

Oh, I know~! On PS3, too, which seems like a much better idea to me. I mean, if the whole point is that it's going to be HD, you might as well be able to enjoy it on a big screen.
I really hope they don't change anything. Maybe add a secret boss or something, that has nothing to do with the plot, but I really think X was complete. I feel this way even more strongly than I do about a VII remake, because let's face it, VII's got some translation issues, and after the Complication Compilation, some continuity issues, too. X really doesn't have those, and if it's not broken, don't fix it.
...That said... I think there's the potential to integrate something new that would be really cool into the story, as it does just seem to leave more room for that kind of thing than VII does. But frankly, I don't trust them enough; I'd rather stick to what's already there.

I loved X. It was my first actual Final Fantasy (Tactics was my first one ever). My only hope for this port is that they use the International Version with the Dark Aeons and Penance. I'm sure they could utilize the Wi-Fi and 3G capabilities by making Blitzball multiplayer. I've always thought about a multiplayer Blitzball since the first one. I highly doubt that it will happen, but a guy can hope.

Ooh, wow, I actually didn't even think about the International version! Honestly, I never cared an awful lot about all the extras and side quests in X -- too difficult for not enough fun, I kinda thought, but it certainly would be nice.
Multiplayer Blitzball, though? Count me in. whee

I really didn't mind the sidequests. I only hated the Chocobo minigame. Getting the little extras was fun too. I hope that multiplayer Blitzball comes up though. I really want a challenge with that. XD The AI is really stupid and it got boring really quick. <<;

I actually pretty much never got bored of it. xd I spent about a hundred hours playing on my one file, eheh. The AI could be better, yeah, but other than that...
Ugh, though, so many of the sidequests I gave up on. The chocobo thing was one of the worst, but besides that... dodging lightning bolts, the butterflies, the arena, the cactuar junk... I got all the aeons, but aside from seeing new places, not even that was very fun for me.
Edit: Oh, and one more thing I want: The ability to skip cutscenes! Oh, man, the number of times I had to listen to the one with Seymour on Mt. Gagazet when I kept losing that battle. stressed

That one was easy wasn't it? Didn't you just have to use reflect on him so he didn't cure himself? Also, I loved the arena, it gave the little challenge I wanted. biggrin I agree with the cutscene skip part though, I can see how not being able to do that would get annoying.

Seymour Flux? Noooo, the other times you fight him weren't a huge deal for me, but everyone I talk to has had major issues with him here. He actually casts Reflect on himself and bounces Flare off himself. Plus zombification, aeon banishing, and general massive damage.

Hm. I don't recall having much difficulty with him. I forget how I dealt with him though. It's been too long since I've even touched FFX. ^^;

IDK. I love the game... bonus animated videos? LOL. no idea. I wish it was going to the PS3 instead, though. I'm too loyal to my first PSP to get a Vita...

I agree with Ravenwolf on the fact that FFX needs no improvement what so ever just a graphics up date but thats pretty much it. But If you guys had noticed in FFX and FFX-2 the developers seem to have been trying to make a connection between FFVII and FFX. As Shinra mentions that there is an endless amount of harness able energy at the core of the earth that the could use as an energy method. anyway I got off topic sorry FFVII is one of the ones that need to be remade new graphics, better translation for the compilation, and repair of the broken story line.

It's just less work to remaster FFX than to completely reanimate FFVII. I say that it's a good move that they did FFX over FFVII because it was the first FF on the PS2. What better way to start off the FF series on a new system than the first installment on a previous console?

Probably not the best place to post this, but I saw people mentioning info about a FFVII remake as well. Recently Square Enix CEO Yoichi Wada has stated that the company won't remake the game until another of their games surpasses its popularity. He continues on saying that remaking the game before that point would end the franchise and honestly I've got to agree with him. While I'm personally not a VII fan (it was the last game I played in the series and I'm a late gen. FF player) I recognize it as the peak of the series and if they can't keep that portion of their gamers invested in the company then they'll just lose it completely especially with the radical turn they've been making in gameplay.
As far as the FFX remake, I absolutely adore that game, but I'm trying to figure out if it would be worth shelling out the money for it when I've a perfectly fine copy and a working PS2. Don't get me wrong, I'm a graphics connoisseur and would love to see it in HD, but how drastic of a change can it be? The original version was pretty enough to keep me invested in it years after it came out. I will admit though that the Vita move is fabulous because now it'll be portable. With this in mind, I believe this remake will be more valuable as a means to get new people interested in the series by creating a modern incentive to buy the game as a newcomer. And of course their are competitionists who will buy the game because of the name.......including probably me.... sweatdrop All in all though, I can't say much until they realize more info and screenshots and I'm still pretty excited to see how this turns out.

I really don't think they should remake it tbh. Like I said on my last post, it's so much more work to completely reanimate than to remaster. I dunno, I wasn't that big of a fan of FFVII, so that could contribute to me not wanting a remake.
