Tapa waited until the hunting parties were well away and the other lionesses were busy with their cubs or the hunter's cubs. She needed a bit of space, and soon - especially if she wanted to be carrying her own before the pride settled again and the choice of males was again narrowed drastically. There were males out there now, just beyond the edges of their camp, and this was the time to go and find them.

Her leg wasn't bothering her too much, tonight, but enough to make her move more slowly then she wanted to. That was bad - it was always possible that it would take some hours to find a suitable male. She wanted to be back before the hunters returned.

She would have to trust her luck.

User ImageIt seemed Lady Luck was with her this one night for a certain male was on patrol. There had been a recent expansion of his pride's boarders as the Mtaishi'miele and Umande'mfuni prides had died away and the territory taken as due by the Stomborn. Their own numbers had swelled steadily and they had no trouble in populating this new resource, and a few lions had even gone to out to set up small outposts along the southern edge of their new land in what had once been the Ushirkino Watembezaji.

Lucivar had been out to visit one of these outposts, checking the family there and familiarizing himself with the land that now belonged to his Warlord. As a young Captain, he knew he still had lot to prove and had decided to go out and check the new land out for himself, to memorize their new boundary and to make note of all the families that had moved southwards. What good was having land if you did not use it or know it?

He had been travailing for days, unusually alone since he had left his companions in what had been the old Umande'mfuni pride, as they would travail east before heading north back to their ancestral homeland and the place that was still the heartland of their pride. Shaking dust from his mane, the heat a strange sensation after the typical cold of his homeland, the well built male walked along unconcerned, knowing there was little in the immediate area that could pose any real threat to him. For as a full grown male of the vikings, he was tall and well muscled, sleek and at the peek of physical fitness. Yet he remained alert, a constant state for a warrior like him, relaxed and in tune with his surroundings.

As he walked he became away of the presence of another, a female by the weight on the air and the faint drift of scent that came to him. Curious and in no hurry, he bent his paws towards the direction he knew she was.

Tapa caught the scent of a male not too far from the pride's camp, and started moving carefully toward it. Part of her was jumping up and down, screaming at her for being stupid, wandering away from the safety of the pride and going to find an unknown male. This part of her she imagined as Beru, shrunk down very small and living in her own head, telling her how daft she was.

Tapa pushed the mini scolding Beru out of her head and proceeded toward the male, pushing through the grass and brush as she walked, hoping that the male was the type she wanted - strong, fierce - but not interested in taking her anywhere.

She emerged facing a brown and tan male, covered in spiral markings. This must have been the male she was smelling. He seemed to be walking in her direction, so she took a few more steps until she was very close indeed.

"Hello," she said.

Lucivar stopped when he spotted her, a pretty little thing in a golden brown coat. Her limp didn't escape him and he felt a shred of disappointment, for she was beautiful and a good prize to take home with him, but with that bad leg, she would be near useless in his rugged, mountain home. Still... just because he couldn't capture her, didn't mean he couldn't socialize...

He strode forwards until he stood before her, his solid, muscular body towered over her's, though not bulky, he was lean and clearly powerful, a male who had spent his life at war. Yet his expression was not war-like at all, he was younger than one might have expected, just coming into his prime, and those blue eyes were clear and curious.

"Hello ma'am." He replied, his rich voice was low and a little husky, a thread of warmth twisting through the sounds. "Isn't it a little dangerous to be out here all alone?" he asked, one brow lifting in question as his gaze dipped to her bad leg then back to her eyes, indicating that not only had he noticed her limp, he also knew the hunters were some distance away and she was, for all intent and purpose, alone with him.

Tapa tried to evaluate him quickly - would he suit? Big, strong looking, taller then usual for the lions of the Bonelands, very little fat on him - he didn't look underfed, though, more just lean. Probably very active. Not as old as she was expecting, but that was good - younger lions tended to have more vigor and vim then the older ones. He would be good for her purposes.

Not a bad voice, either - he was probably spoken for where ever his home was, but this wasn't his home. Yes, he would do nicely.

"That depends entirely on what you think is dangerous, and what you're looking for. Sometimes a lady likes a little alone time to get things done. What about you, sir? What are you doing out here without any company?"

Lucivar waited patiently while she assessed him. He did not fear her appraisal as a lesser male might have, he did not need some stranger's approval about his looks. His body did its job, he had honed and trained it since cubhood to do so, to be at the peek f fitness and strength. He could run right across the savannah and not tire, could fight a rogue male and be fairly confident of his success. The colour of his pelt mattered not to him, nor did any notions of 'beauty'. His body was a tool and so long as that tool did its job well, he was satisfied. That attitude was clear from the scar that littered his frame, almost hidden by his brown-toned fur but not quite. Most of them were older, some faded almost to nothing and visible only by the sparse regrowth of his fur, others still retaining a faint pinkness but were months old at the most. Only one or two fresh scars cut across his shoulder but they were small and already healed.

She may have been surprised to learn that he was unattached, but then, if she had known just what pride he was from, that might not have ended up being a surprise. The stormborn were not known for life-mateing a single partner, theirs was a far more free society where flings were common and half-siblings filled the pride. Yet Lucivar was still cubless despite his rank, though maybe that fact at least, would change very soon.

Tilting his head at her words, a wry smile curled across his muzzle briefly. "True enough. Though I would think danger remains a danger in general, regardless of your activity when it finds you. As to myself, I am travailing back to my home pride." He did not elaborate on his own reasons for being out and about but turned the conversation back to her. "So... what is it a lady needs to be alone to do?"

He wasn't very chatty, this one, but that was fine by Tapa. His life story and the particulars of his business were not terribly important to her. She didn't want a love connection - just cubs, and as quickly as possible. He wasn't giving off crazy vibes, and he hadn't attacked. That was good enough for her. He would suit.
"Danger can be avoided often enough, and if it isn't, then I get what I deserve. As for what a girl needs privacy for, well, there's grooming in peace. Time to think. Having a litter of cubs. Or getting with a litter of cubs without the rest of the pride chatting and giggling all around you."

Tapa hoped that was blunt enough for the lion to get the point, but she could be blunter if necessary. "Would you care to help a lady out with getting some cubs?"

He may not have been the most worldly male ever to have lived, but he wasn't at all sure this was a normal conversation to be having with a perfect stranger. Her sudden query wasn't a total surprise given the direction of her conversation, but the sheer bluntness with which she asked did make him flick an ear, an amused smile quirking one corner of his maw upwards.

"I can see where privacy would be fairly necessary for such activities." He replied, unable to help the grin that curled across his muzzle. It wasn't every day he received such an offer. Padding forwards he drew closer to her, his muscular agile body gliding forwards predatorily, stalking around her as if she were some kind of prey he had set his sights on. "Who could refuse such an offer from such a pretty lioness." He purred softly from just behind her, his breath puffing over her ear as his solid flank brushed ever-so-lightly along her body. He was a good bit taller than she, coat glossy over solid muscle, power and strength all wrapped up in silken fur.

Tapa's fur stood on end as the lion closed in on her. Raw power - the feeling of a male lion. It had been to long since Tapa felt it - but that was more like what Tapa had in mind. He would be a good father for cubs. Powerful, alive. No dust on his paws, like the males that ran the pride and ruled the other females. Tapa wanted no part of them.

The lioness nuzzled him back as he moved around her. "Not you, I hope.Is that a yes then?"

Tapa raised her tail slightly in invitation. The night was going a lot better then she thought it would - heck, she might even make it home before anyone noticed her missing. Then her cubs would really be a surprise to everyone.

His rich, deep rumbling laugh vibrated through his chest, more felt than heard as he pressed closer, his lean hard body subtly directing her own towards a thick patch of brush to one side. "Not I..." He agreed, his words ticking the fur behind her ear. "I would never disappoint a Lady." The last words were fair breathed, a low husky whisper as he guided her into the shadow of the thicket, the full, heavy branches of the foliage closing behind them as if they had never passed through, offering them complete privacy as the Captain gave the lady her desire.
