Ruva didn't know how much longer she could hide in the shadows without someone finding her. With the chaos building around her, and the frequent hyena attacks, it had been easy at first to slip away, but now....
She found herself standing on the edge of glory and disaster. Depending on the choices she made from this moment on everything she had worked so tirelessly for could very well slip through her paws. It was stressful, to say the least, and stress was something she didn't need.
Ruva knew what she had to do. For the first time since the fighting began, she strode out into the open, sticking to the shadows to hide what she'd become. She had to find him.

Samawati
It seemed things were finally calming down. Samawati was standing near the border, waiting for those who were returning from the battlefield. His heart soared at the sight of each familiar face and sighed in relief. Amongst the many he did not know, he hoped to find those he’d grown closer to. The red adolescent he’d met not too long before was one. And… she… was another.
He paced around from one spot to the next, a nasty limp the only thing keeping him from running off on his own. It had been too long since he’d last seen Ruva and he was more worried that he’d liked to admit. He didn’t even like the idea that a girl had fought in the war when he hadn’t but the mere thought that Ruva might be hurt or even… well, it was maddening.

When her quick gaze found the younger male, Ruva had to catch herself from calling out. For that split second, that one tiny moment, she couldn't tell which twin it was until reality set in, and she realized who it had to be.
"Samawati." She didn't know if he would be able to hear her or not, as her voice came out as more of a whisper than her usual tone. Now that she had stepped into the light, there was little hiding her mid-section. "I need to speak with you. Now."

“Ruva?” her whisper might as well have been a piercing scream considering how quickly the yellow adolescent turned to look in the lioness’ direction. He felt an indescribable relief upon seeing the pink-eyed Ruva. He’d already lost too much, Samawati couldn’t bear to think what he’d do if she had been taken from him as well. Not that she was his to begin with, of course he knew that. But she felt like his and was part of his life in whatever form she chose to be. “Are you alright? Were you fighting? Are you injured?”
He almost ran to her, confused as to why she had been keeping to the shadows. Had she been hurt by those beasts? The mere thought infuriated him beyond belief. He couldn’t believe that there were girls that fought in the war while he had been confined to a maddening tiny den while everything was happening somewhere else. He searched for her eyes, with little regard for anything other than her face.

As loathe as she was to admit it, Ruva was comforted to see Samawati's face after so long. Comforted and pensive. She didn't know how he would react to what she had to tell him, and could only hope this meeting wouldn't end in bloodshed. "I'm better off than you." She nodded towards his nasty limp. "You'll need to keep off that, if you don't plan on losing it."
She waited and waited, and when he said no more, when he just kept looking into her eyes she knew it was going to be all up to her. Those blue eyes received no passion from her, which only aided her in keeping a straight face when she spoke. "Samawati, I'm not alright, nor will I be for the rest of my life." Ruva's words were spoken through tip lips, and irritably, she nodded towards her stomach. "Do I not look....different to you?"

“I’m fine.” He lied quietly, stepping a little closer before stopping. Her words were like a riddle to the young lion and he couldn’t help feeling a little worried. “What’s wrong?” He followed her gaze, expecting to find a nasty wound on her stomach but he breathed a little easier when he realized she seemed to be fine… even if a little… different. Oh, crap! What was the polite word for fat? This was one of those trick questions females liked to ask from time to time, he was sure of it.
“You’re not hurt.” He said very slowly, looking up as if expecting her to confirm it. “You’re even a little big. I mean, healthy.” No wounds, thank the Gods. It seemed she had either escaped the fighting uninjured or she’d managed to avoid the whole fight altogether. He preferred to think the latter.

Ruva could have died. She gasped, then came up sputtering, too flustered with her own predicament to care about how she came off. This wasn't the cool cucumber Ruva; this was the at-my-wits-end Ruva that couldn't understand why this brat wasn't getting it!
"The term isn't 'healthy', Samawati. It's pregnant. I'm expecting." And soon, if she had any say about it. Standing was starting to take it's toll on her, so the pink eyed lioness sat infront of the younger male, looking less dignified then she ever had in her entire life.

Samawati was taken aback by her sudden outburst, something that didn’t quite fit the image he had of his lovely Ruva. And then she said that word. Pregnant. Wait, what?
“WHAT? HOW?” Wait, no. That was the wrong question. The wrongest question in the entire world. He was trying so hard to control himself that he could barely think much less speak. “I mean… when… no, who…?!”
Who, indeed! Arrrrg! Samawati’s eyes widened and he snarled, his blue eyes holding the lioness’ pink gaze for an instant before he started pacing back and forth, his limp becoming more pronounced with each step. At this point, he cared little about the pain. It was distraction and the adolescent welcomed it.

And there it was. Ruva exhaled, then took a deep to keep herself calm. Pregnancy was seriously messing with her mind if she was sweeping between anger and depression that quickly.
She patiently watched as he paced back and forth, passively watching after his limp. It looked painful, but not as painful as the news she was about to give, that she was sure of. The great actress in her seized the oppurtunity to whip up some tears, take a shaky breath, and chew on her bottom lip. Her entire body visibly slumped, almost as if she were truly afraid of him.
"The father....oh, Samawati....it's..." She cast her pink gaze to the ground, then slowly looked up to follow him with her eyes. "...it's Waridi."

With his back still turned against Ruva, the yellow lion froze instantly. The first thing he thought about after a moment of complete blankness was that he had misheard her… because… that had to be it… it couldn’t… it wasn’t… it…
“What did you say?” and then there was a wave of denial overflowing him. No, no, no, no! She was not serious. She couldn’t be. There was no way Waridi would ever do something like that to him, to her, with her… that was his twin she was talking about! And he wasn’t here to defend himself. That was probably the reason she was using him as a scapegoat in the first place. She’d gotten herself knocked up by some random rogue and now she was pushing the blame to Waridi. No, no and NO! “There is no way Waridi would ever EVER do that! That’s a LIE!”
Waridi was… had been his brother, his twin brother! His best friend, his most loyal friend, his partner in crime. Samawati would not allow anyone, not even Ruva, to say something like that about him. Waridi would never betray him in such a way.

"Do you honestly think I would lie about something like this?" It hurt her to think that he thought of her that way, but it couldn't be helped. Ruva hadn't expected him to act any other way, though. She'd lain with his twin, and however the situation panned out between, he had to accept the truth.
"Samawati, please." She looked around, always wary of the prying eyes of others and what rumors may have already been spreading. Still, when Ruva ducked, her fear was true. The logical part of her knew he was acting cubbish by throwing this tantrum, but then there was that other part....the half of her that was starting to, dare she say it, care.
"Would you rather wait until the cubs have been born to see for yourself?" She hissed.

“Stop, Ruva. Just stop talking!” The yellow lion growled loudly, his expression shifting between pained and furious. “Waridi would never - never! - do this to me. And now he’s… How could you even…”
Oh, if she wasn’t a girl he would’ve hit her already. Of course if she wasn’t a girl, she wouldn’t be in this situation right now, ahah. Ah. Ah. No. Still not funny. Samawati had been so happy to see her unharmed, why was she saying something so cruel?
“Yes, we’ll see then.” He said firmly with stubborn expression, clearly still not believing the lioness’ words. If she thought he could be fooled just because she had been frolicking with a lion that resembled the twins, she better think twice. If he had been the one dying instead of Waridi, she would be probably be giving the news to his twin right now, blaming her condition on Samawati. He couldn’t possibly explain just how disappointed he was in Ruva. His lovely Ruva. How could she? He would probably have helped her if she'd just asked whether the father of her cubs was a passing rogue, someone who had died in the war or a mated lion. To lie about something so serious... it was cowardly and just plain nasty.
“I’ll ask the others to keep an eye on you until they’re born. Stay away from me from now on, Ruva.” He really didn’t want to talk to her anymore. He could barely even look at her. Frowning angrily, the young lion turned abruptly and started walking away. - The End -
