Hyousa was starting to let the worries of everyone seep into her normally happy demeanor. She put so much faith into the Great Lion, and what had happened? She didn't want to feel like it had stemmed from any one lion, but it was hard to keep her happy, social ways up when no one seemed amused by it.
The lioness swished her tail behind her as she watched other lions passing by. Some going to rest, others probably going to hunt or to their guard duties. She knew it wasn't really her 'turn' to hunt right now, but she wondered if that might be better than sitting here and turning into a worry wart...like...like some old lioness or something!

Ulivuma was feeling rather cheerful. Optimist that he was, he was sure things were looking up now that everything was getting sorted out. Two of his girls had important jobs now, hard to feel bad about that. The main sad spot was how his father was viewed so negatively.. and of course, how he himself was viewed. But that was to a far lesser degree than Unyezi. It would take more than pride disapproval to make him regret his decision to be with Mawu, they hadn't done anything wrong. He accepted his place happily and respectfully. Just as his father had.
Having spent more than enough time tending to family matters, he figured it was time he went out and made himself useful. To a slave, that was to just walk around where it was busy and wait to be told to do something.. or ask around if anybody needed help. He had yet to decide if he would be that proactive, though.

Hyousa spotted one of the slaves and decided to pester him for a bit. She felt strange to admit it to herself, but she liked to keep tabs on them. Give them silly little tasks to keep them out of the reach of others that might not be as...nice? At least in Hyousa's mind.
"Hello," the lioness called out with a soft smile, a little more sad than she normally would have. "Are you busy?" In case he was already off doing something else...no use in getting him in trouble if she interrupted him.

He was surprised when he was approached rather early into his walk. It wasn't rare but it wasn't very common, either. Saved him some time, at least. More surprising was that it wasn't someone he recognized and she looked like she ought to stand out. She certainly didn't look like anybody else around the pride.
"Good afternoon," he returned with a smile, "Not busy, is there anything I can help you with?"

Hyousa smiled a bit more warmly this time. At least he seemed quite pleasant. "All right, I just didn't want to interrupt you if you were on an errand or something." She paused for a moment, curious on how much she should say, but would it really matter? Her place was secured, and she was only worried about the pride as a whole.
"Its...been a crazy couple weeks, hasn't it?" She tried to ask carefully, knowing that Mazin was a slave and he might be sensitive to it.
Man, she was being super careful and she didn't really know why.

Ulivuma was positive she was not a slave but she was unexpectedly polite. But that could have been explained by the fact she was, judging by her unfamiliar fur, a former rogue. They tended to be worried about classes.. unless they were in the high class and it went right to their head.
Still, it was hard to guess where on the scale she fit. Whatever it was, it was above him so he just had to stay polite and friendly.
"It has," he agreed, his tail swaying behind him, ultimately deciding not to share his optimism. Might not look good.

Hyousa's rump plopped on the ground as she sound down with a slight humph. "I feel safe, but...I don't know. Looks pretty bad for someone like me to go to a slave to talk with, huh? I'm Hyousa by the way, its nice to meet you. In...a non-awkward way." She didn't even know if she was reacting with him correctly, but she didn't care. She wasn't going to harm him, or herself, so...what did it matter if they talked a bit?
Plus then she might be able to calm down and focus more on her work instead of just being a worry wart and watching her prey escape her.

'Someone like me' .. so she was one of the higher classes, if not high class. Very interesting! It was hard not to show just how interesting he seemed to find her. But then, this was something slaves weren't unfamiliar iwth, too. Use for entertainment, even if it was just to smile and nod while someone talked at them. And she was keeping it fairly relevant.
"I don't think so," he said, decidedly not finding it bad or unusual to chit-chat with a slave.. though maybe it was more so considering recent circumstances. Still.
"My name is Ulivuma," he introduced himself, "It's nice to meet you, Hyousa."

Hyousa smiled more warmly now. "Thank you. I've come to love this pride more than I thought was possible when I first came here. Everything that has been happening has been....frightening." The tip of her tail curled around her ankle as she debated on how much more to say. But what was there to say?
"I guess, in the end, this can only make us stronger in spirit." Not everyone felt that way, though. It twisted her stomach as she glanced up at the sky.
"A-anyway, I'm sure you've been fairly well, right?" She didn't know if the low class was under more scrutiny with the events going on.

And now it was certain, she was a former rogue. His smile widened a bit at the thought, her words indicated she had really accepted their ways here. Considering she was blessed by the Great Lion, since he assumed she was in a high class, it was a good thing. Especially with recent events.
"As well as anybody might expect," he replied cautiously, not sure how open to be with a stranger from a higher class, "I am glad we seem to be getting things back together."
No harm in being cautiously optimistic in the open.

Hyousa nodded excitedly. "It is great to see a new Shaman already. She seems a good fit, and I hope that she will help guide us to good fortune."
"The new midwives as well....though I doubt I will need their help anytime soon." She wasn't in a rush, but she didn't have a beau, either.

Ulivuma knew his status in the pride had made promoting his daughters somewhat more difficult, though not so much as his own father, but it wasn't exactly a secret what their lineage was like and he so wanted to brag openly about his girls. Had Hyousa been anything but friendly, he might have held himself back.
"They're my daughters, the new shaman and one of the midwives," he said proudly, puffing up a bit.

"Oh really? Congratulations are in order then! I'm sure that you're quite proud of their achievements." Hyousa sure would be if they had been her children.
"That's nice to know, it makes me feel a bit more comfortable. Thank you."

"Thank you," he beamed, pleased to have the opportunity to tell a stranger about his daughters, "I am very proud of them, I am sure they will do a fine job."
He was pleased to find he was talking to someone who welcomed optimism. It was much nicer than dealing with anybody who was still panicking, or was too busy being careful to be hopeful.

"I believe so too." She was always the optimist, and it was certainly returning right now.
"Thank you for speaking to me. I don't feel as worried now. Its nice to be able to air out things and let them go." She smiled broadly. "I appreciate it, and it was nice speaking with you!"
