A small figure could be seen around campus dragging huge planks of wood behind him toward the demon dorms. To on lookers, it might look like the demon boy was trying to be very secretive about what ever he was doing but failing hard at it as the plank made a horrible scratching noise as it dragged.

He was now on his fifth trip of plank getting when he finally had to stop and take a breath. This was very hard work for the little demon. Very hard work in deed. Usually, Charlie was a slacker in the hard work department but today he seemed extremely persistent in what ever task he had decided to under go. But he was on his -fifth- trip now and it was starting to wear him down quite a bit.

The boards dropped beside the small pink haired demon and he took a few breaths. Next he would need to find some power tools... but that could wait. For now.

For the most part, Jove was not the sort of student to poke his nose annoyingly into the business of others. So on that day he was minding his own matters as the pink haired demon went by, huffing and puffing and dragging a scratching, noisy bunch of wood from who knows where for some unknown reason.

Jove's ears flattened down, and he shifted a little ways around the tree he was sitting under. Once the irritating noise passed, he went back to his book. Only for the demon to soon be dragging another armful of planks past. The noise was terrible! Jove once again cursed his sensitive hearing and tried to ignore it. The third and fourth times were almost too much, he debated abandoning his tree for quieter reading ground.

On the fifth pass he had enough. Jove got up and shoved his book into a large, hollow crack in the tree trunk, and trotted over to the pink haired boil. Charlie, he remembered from the boat ride. One of Lizzy's friends? The demon didn't appear too much older than the pup himself, so why could he be trying to haul so many planks all the way across campus?

Perhaps a more vocal student would have told off the annoying kid, but Jove just frowned. And then picked up one end of the planks. The sooner they finished getting moved, the sooner they could both get back to what they were doing!

For a moment, Charlie could have sworn he'd gotten stronger. And for a moment he was proud of hose the board felt magically lighter. But his pride shrunk a bit when he turned his head to find a certain ghost pop at the end helping. The demon didn't question it.

"You sure are strong, Thanks~" He gave a nod to the ghost dog and started off again. This time it was a lot quieter which slightly bothered Charlie. He'd grown semi accustom to the gritty dragging noise the board produced.

"Hey. So you wouldn't happen to know a place that we could swipe... err ... borrow some power tools would you?" That seemed like some good small talk to Charlie. Most people would probably have offered their name and asked for the other persons but not Charlie. It was straight to business... or game. IT was hard to tell some times with the pink haired demon.

Although doubtful at first, Jove puffed up in surprised pride as the demon complimented his strength. He seemed really honest, although the pup was getting used to scanning such phrases for hints of sarcasm there was no mockery or deception from this boil.

Jove liked honest people, and he followed the demon's lead with a bit more pep in his step. At least until Charlie spoke up again. About... power tools.

It would have been a weird question for anyone, but it earned perked ears and a head tilt from Jove. Two years ago he had been nothing but a scared little foxfire wisp, and since then had grown into what he was now. A kid who was young for a highschooler, with decent manners, a suitable knowledge of how to behave like a student, and surprisingly good writing skills. But "power tools" was not yet in his vocabulary. Clearly he was about to learn something from this encounter.

There was no word from the little ghostly canine helper so Charlie turned back to look at him. Which wasn't wise when he was leading their board. Some how he managed not to crash in to anything as he raised a brow at Jove.

"You sure are quiet. But thats okay," Charlie finally turned to look where he was going in time to avoid a walking in to a trash can. He played it off like nothing had caused him to veer the other direction in a spontaneous way.

"Its okay bro. I don't really know where to find power tools either. I think I know where we can find a hammer," Charlie had not picked up on the fact Jove did not know what power tools were. Really, power tools wasn't something that came up in most conversations. It was probably good that Jove did not know what the word meant because Charlie was not one to be trusted with power tools let alone regular tools.

"I'm building a secret fort in my room~" The demon went on, "One that only boils can hide out in. No ghouls allowed~"

Jove's expression turned doubtful as the pink haired boil almost steered himself into a garbage can, and even moreso when he mentioned a hammer. What on earth would he need a hammer for? Surely he couldn't be building anything with all this wood, and with the way their board was being guided, the pup couldn't believe for a second it would be anything sturdy.

But... A secret fort? It wouldn't stay secret for very long if the demon was willing to divulge such information to just any old kid who picked up the other end of a board for him. And Jove's expression continued reflecting such doubts until the boil mentioned the nature of his fort. With no ghouls allowed.

Jove's ears perked.

Now the pup was a proper gentleman, and all for being nice to ghouls, but a place where he was guaranteed no cooties was a very tempting thing to have! Sure he could make his room off limits to ghouls, but what if they came to study? Or asked to come in even? It was only gentlemanly to let them in and offer them a seat... But a secret fort! They wouldn't even have to know! Unless they tried to help this boil with it's construction.

There was a small lag in the carrying of the board. If Charlie had turned his head he would have seen that Jove had taken the trash can for him. But the demon was caught up in dreams of hammers and nails and a secret forts.

Jove was right to question the secrecy the fort would truly have. Charlie had a big mouth. Spending just a few moments with the demon gave that away. And he continued to go on about the forts secret activities.

"I think it would be cool so that you could hide your favorite snacks and no one would think to look there! Who would think to look in a secret for? I wouldn't."

Now the two were at a door. Charlie did his best to wedge on through, leaving his foot extended best he could to leave the door open for Jove.

"Got it?"

The little pup's ears continued to stand up with attention, and visions of tasty little button mushrooms danced through his head. His mushrooms were safe enough in his room, since nobody really dared eat anything in there in case it was poisonous, but the thought of having a secret place for them just appealed to the little boil.

Jove nodded, nudging the door with his own foot, and bumping it with his shoulder as he passed. How had the little demon managed to do all this on his own anyway? It explained the irritating delay in between scraping noises, the little ghost would only just get fully immersed in his reading before it disrupted him yet again. He could only imagine the troubles this little demon had gone through to get this far on his own.

But then again, nothing he had seen about the demon so far suggested he even acknowledged troubles. Not from now, or the other times he had run into him... The pup tried to remember his name. He knew the boil was Lizzy's friend, and they had shared that boat on the field trip... Chester? Charles- Charlie! That was it.

They had passed the first obstacle of a door and were now headed deep in to the many halls of the demon dorms. Truthfully, Charlie felt the decorations were a little over dramatic and not so fun. But that was just how most demons liked it he supposed.

The two finally came to the fallen angels room. The demon let his side of the board go leaving Jove with the other end. Charlie went ahead and propped his door open revealing a very empty room, apart from the single mattress on the floor and the pile of miscellaneous wood piled in the corner.

"Well this is my room." Charlie put his hands on his hips. " I was thinking of maybe trying to put the club house up there so its kind of like an indoor tree house. What do you say pup?" He had forgotten to go back to help Jove with the plank of wood.

Jove had been in the demon dorms before, and as always, he was amazed with the richness and resplendence. The decorations and furniture, even the softness of the plush carpet under his boots... It was all luxury beyond what he was used to. Jove stared openly at everything, he had never been in this section before. He had only been in to visit Yaya on occasion, not explore aimlessly.

And so it was a bit of a shock, arriving at the little demon's room. Yaya's bedroom was all silks and cushions, exotic scents drifting through the air... And Charlie's looked even more sparse than his own room. And what was the most horrifying, he had no space under his bed.

No wonder he needed a secret fort!

Jove frowned and gave the board a shove, clearing the way for him to slip into the room and drag the board over to the pile in the corner. And when he dropped it, he gave Charlie a look that said "Where would you put the tree?"

Charlie turned his head when he heard the plank of wood drop in with the others.

"Hmm... what?" He scratched his head and raised a brow at the canine. He had a very good point. Where would the tree go? Charlie hadn't thought this all the way through and now he had a very large pile of planks scattered about his floor. What was a demon to do now?

"Ummm.." He scratched his head some more. Clearly Charlie was in the middle of trying to piece things together. He didn't have a plan much further then drag wood up to his room. Now that was done and he was planless.

"Shoot. Maybe I can cut one down.. Or something," He hadn't thought of the possibility of just building a fake tree. That was a little to advance for his problem solving skills apparently.

No matter, a secret fort would be just as much fun as a secret tree fort. And would save them the effort of hauling that pile of wood up into a tree.

Anyway, even if Charlie had not thought his metaphor through well enough, surely he had a plan. Jove leaned over to examine the boil's selection of wood, and then turned and perked his ears. He was all for helping, but... he didn't know the first thing about building anything! His idea of a secret fort would be finding a small hollow in a tree, or a hidden burrow, something already constructed and ready to fit a perfectly sized little fluffball. How they might make a burrow out of planks of wood was beyond him.

With a curious expression, he picked up one end of a board and rested it against the wall, forming a triangle shape underneath. That... might... make a burrow?

Joves attempt at triangularing planks started to spark thoughts in Charlies head. They could make a regular fort. Like a little house, still the two would need tools. Charlie knew they couldn't just stack planks on to of one another. They would fall over eventually.

He didn't have hammer and nails though and that was the problem. Charlie, for what ever reason, did have glue though. The pink haired demon wandered over to his closet and pulled out two cases of arts and craft glue. Why he would have that was beyond anyone but Charlie. But in this situation it seemed to call for it.

"We can stick the boards together with these ~" He offered one to the ghost pup.
