"Por..." The snow leopard-coated Vaporeon growled, deep blue eyes narrowed. Her head lowered and earrings swayed, as she studied the scantily-clad human before her.
Well, 'scantily-clad' wasn't exactly accurate. The agent was, rather, simply in her bathing suit. Claire set her bag and towel down, the rest of her pokemon out in case the new Vaporeon decided to try anything. "Alright Jasmine --" the water-type huffed, eyes still narrowed, "-- you can go swimming as much as you want for the next hour." She paused to look at her rocket 'dex to check the time. That done, she stuffed it back into her bag and turned back to her illegally obtained Vaporeon. Her practically pitifully weak illegally obtained Vaporeon. Actually, she was barely stronger than Luc, who, she thought briefly, was due to evolve soon. But seriously - why did rich snobs get such gorgeous pokemon and then just... not train them? So much wasted potential.
Jasmine, as the Vaporeon was called - at least this tacky human had gleaned that much - snorted and turned her nose up at her before diving into the water. Claire merely rolled her eyes - like owner, like pokemon, she supposed - before diving in as well for some exercise. A Glaceon trotted delicately over to the edge and began using some of her attacks to form some sort of small ice floe, while a fluffy blue Eevee swatted at the ice-type's tail.

A Pidgeotto wandered out first, though she wasn't too far ahead of another swimsuit clad rocket. Tambrey padded cautiously out to the pool, though not really looking too carefully at where she was going as she was beckoning for a pokemon to follow along and was keeping an eye. She wasn't sure if a Chikorita would even like the pool, but it had to be worth a shot. Palu had to hop a little to the side as she'd paused to look at all the pokemon, and the agent, already here. "Geeoh-to!" She warbled for Tambrey's attention. 'Others are here!' Tam's towel bag swung a little as she turned to look, her glasses still on, but googles dangling from her left wrist. Treestar halted abruptly to peer around her ankle as she stopped. New place, new pokemon; ooh! o.o Curious but a little shy. As was Tambrey. There was someone in the pool, and lots of pokemon; somehow she'd forgotten to account for this. Um. Ooh, pretty pokemon! No; no distractions until situation solved. She moved to, cautiously, sit at the pool edge, after setting her bag down, feet dangling into the water. She'd ask if it was okay to be here when there was a chance; there couldn't be harm in that, surely. Palu was staying a little back from the water, but Treestar had trotted up to peek around his owner.

A golden Pidgeot stood preening in a corner next to a bench, upon which was a bag and a lilac-colored towel. Sprawled on top of said towel and sleeping soundly was a chubby Pikachu. Or at least, he looked like he was fast asleep. In either case, the cry of the Pidgeotto didn't cause him to stir in the least. It did for the Pidgeot though, whose head whipped around to focus narrow gray eyes on the smaller bird. She straightened up to her full height - a hair over six and a half feet tall - and only seemed taller when her crest rose a few more inches. These newcomers needed to understand their place - especially if there was another bird - and Odette would always rise to the occasion and look as intimidating as possible. Which, to be quite honest, wasn't too hard for a bird who would not hesitate to rip someone to shreds if necessary.
The second to notice the girl and her pokemon was a brightly colored Growlithe, who bounded over with her tongue hanging out the side of her mouth. "Grauff!" She yipped happily, stopping short of the girl before prancing about her in an excited circle, treating all of them to a mandatory and thorough sniffing - and like most excited puppies, it was perhaps a bit too thorough.
"Artemis, down." The fire-type froze for a quick moment before backing up and sitting, her thick, bushy tail thumping dully on the tile. "Sorry about that," Claire said politely across the pool, having paused in the shallow end part-way through her usual laps. "She's rather excitable." The agent paused momentarily to push her fingers through her soaking hair to pull it away from her face and off the back of her neck. "I'm Claire. Your name?"

Tambrey's nerves were certainly affected by the display from the bird, but she was trying not to show that she was too bothered by it and focus on talking to the human. She was aware, however, that Palu certainly wasn't going to ignore such a thing. Besides, she had to make sure Treestar was alright and now there was an adorable puppy-pokemon snuffling around. o.o Tambrey actually absent-mindedly reached to pet the cute thing as it inspected her, and Treestar seemed suddenly much less shy and, indeed, pleased to meet a brand new potential friend. He wiggled his leaf at the Growlithe and smiled with bright, curious, eyes. "Chee-chikoree!" "Um. It's fine. She's cute... and I love the name 'Artems'." Tambrey turned her head from pup, as she sat, to Claire again. "Uh, Tambrey." She supplied, then, as if worried the answer could be misinterpreted, added "My name, I mean. I hope you don't mind? I, um.. wanted to get Treestar," She indicated the little grass type with a bob of her head "used to some more of the base and, well, I, um, wanted a swim..." And, then, as if it were vitally important she add it too "You have beautiful pokemon, by the way! All, very pretty."
Palu, meanwhile, had been trying to puff herself up to as impressive as she could look. So, she wasn't, and apparently couldn't be, a Pidgeot, but she was still a proud and a fancy bird. Her warble was certainly accepting that the other bird was more impressive, her behaviour with a hint of wariness, but with a little uppity tint of protest that, apparently, she didn't care about who was more dominant than who. Palu was Palu, and she was, in her own view, a perfect bird with a right to be tall and proud. Plus, she had a very fine scarf.

"Tambrey?" She repeated, giving the Growlithe a wave which caused the fire-type to yip happily. "Nice to meet you." She couldn't recognize her - she wasn't an agent, unless she was very recently promoted and Claire just hadn't seen her yet, and since she knew about all of the elites and higher, that meant this girl had to be either a trainee or grunt. And a girl. Both of these were perfectly fine with her, she wasn't one to lord her rank over others, but if Tambrey had been a male she didn't know she very well might have had to.
Artemis, meanwhile, had jumped forward to resume her sniffing - less so now, and more whuffling at Tambrey and Treestar. "Awrr!" She loved meeting new people and pokemon! Did they want to play? Maybe they did! She hoped they did. Oh, she hoped ever so much that they did! If her tail were wagging any faster, her rear end might've achieved lift-off.
The fact that Palu hadn't backed down - indeed, she'd puffed herself up instead - was immediately interpreted as a thread to the large golden Pidgeot. She spread her wings a bit, crest raising more and narrowing her steely gray eyes as she took a step towards the other bird. Who cared if such a common bird had a scarf? The thing looked ratty to her. "Geoo..."
"Odette, stop it." The menacing tone and angry noises the Pidgeot had taken on had caught Claire's attention, and the agent swam to the edge of the pool before hoisting herself up to sit on the edge, her legs dangling in the water saying "come here" as she did so. Odette immediately stopped and deflated before eagerly stepping over to her trainer, and lowered her head into the agent's outstretched hands with an affectionate coo. Claire smiled and stroked her feathers for a few minutes, watching her eyes but addressing Tambrey. "Don't mind her, she's not very good with other birds. Never has been - she just sees them as competition. Just don't insult her and you'll be fine," she finished, pulling her hands away to fold them in her lap before turning to the other girl with a small smile. Odette resumed her preening, completely ignoring the other girl and her pokemon now. "And thank you." She shifted a bit, her smile losing a bit of its polite professionalism in favor of a more human air. "I like picking names for them, and feel free. It's a huge pool, I won't take up the whole thing just by myself and my pokemon." Hazel eyes scanned the water's surface momentarily, passing over Alexina and Blue as they floated by on the Glaceon's tiny mon-made ice floe, then came to rest on the spotted Vaporeon in the deep end. Both pairs of eyes narrowed as they met. "Jasmine, behave yourself."
Gray fins lowered against the water-type's head as she growled half-heartedly, focusing narrowed blue eyes on the second human before diving again. She didn't really care for either of them - she was in the water, and that was all she cared about for the time being.

"Uh, nice to meet you too." Tambrey smiled. This Rocket wasn't that scary. She was pretty sure that Claire had to be an agent or higher though; it was just that sort of impression plus she seemed to have acquired a certain paranoia that anyone she couldn't see the uniform of likely outranked her. Again, Tambrey reached shyly, if a little more deliberately, to pet the happy-seeming puppy. And Treestar was delighted by the attention. He wobbled his leaf again and pretended to be sniffing and snuffling back at Artemis; a pleased and dopey smile written across his face. "Chee!" He certainly wanted to play! New friends were awesome! And Artemis seemed so happy! It was a bit infectious.
Palu watched the larger bird puff up and display with wary eyes. She was proud, but not foolish enough to want to fight the larger pokemon. The Pidgeotto ruffled up her feathers and then deflated, though with an attitude of disdain; pretending as if the display simply wasn't worth the effort, instead of a display of deference like, perhaps, she should have done. And, anyway, the larger bird was getting told off by her own- "And you Palu. I know you were puffing up and provoking right back." Ah, ratatas... Well, it wasn't too embarrassing then, if both backed down for their humans... Still, Palu kept a wary eye on Odette. "It's okay. Um, Palu can be far too uppity for own good anyway; it's probably somewhat good that there's a pokemon that she has to play safe to." Tambrey smiled, the next bit obviously intended for the Pidgeotto "Might teach her some, um, humility..." Palu seemed to roll her eyes.
"We wouldn't dream of insulting her and she is a -very- pretty bird." The Grunt was quite sincere and smiled as she looked back out at the pool when Claire did. "You pick good names; they... suit well. 'Odette' and 'Artemis'... I like them a lot; It's nicer, I think, when the name isn't stuck. And, um, thankyou..." Tambrey looked a little embarrassed. "I didn't mean that I thought you and the pokemon would take up the whole pool, but, uh, I know sometimes... some people seem to quite like being here without anyone else and I'm... just a grunt, so I don't want to upset anyone higher..." Maybe she shouldn't be quite so honest, but she was feeling a tiny bit of a panic to get a lot of words out of her mouth all of a sudden.

Artemis panted while her tail thumped enthusiastically against the cold tile floor, pushing her head into Tambrey's hands. "Awrr!" She loved attention! At the Chikorita's exclamation, the Growlithe opened bright orange eyes before she yipped and dropped into a play-stance on the tile. Her behind wiggled in the air before she yipped again and bounded off to one side a few feet. Play!
An amused snort escaped Claire at that. "Odette doesn't know the meaning of the word 'humility' or anything similar to it. She's the most vain creature I've ever seen." Said vain bird voiced a very pleased coo at the other girl's compliment, and the agent rolled her eyes, though a soft smile was present on her face as she did. "I'm glad you like their names. I didn't pick Blue's though," she motioned at the blue Eevee who was floating on the small ice floe with the Glaceon, "her name is Bluetooth, I got her from someone in the tech department." As if that wasn't obvious. "And Jasmine," Claire continued with slightly pursed lips, "got her off an incompetent snob who called her that, and she won't answer to anything else."
When Tambrey went off about the pool and started rambling, Claire's eyebrows rose slightly momentarily before she waved away the concerns. "Don't worry about it, really. I'm an agent, but don't worry about it too much. Normally when I come here, no one else is in here, but company is nice once in a while. Really, nothing to worry about, so you can relax," she finished with a bemused smile. Well, better to be nervous and careful than brash and insolent.

Artemis' reaction to attention made Tambrey helpless to contain a smile. It was a such a cute noise and such cute behaviour from the puppy pokemon.
Treestar, meanwhile, was similarly delighted by the fact that the fire type really wanted to play. The young grass type watched and then attempted to copy the Growlithe, putting his own behind into the air and clumsily hop-stepping to one side in a crude mimic of Artemis' bounding. "Cheeka!" He declared gleefully, and looked ready to chase or be chased, his leaf wafting back and forth in place of a tail.
The name 'bluetooth' got an appreciative lip-twitch of a smile from Tambrey, but 'Jasmine' didn't get quite the same level of distaste that Claire seemed to have for it. Sure, it wasn't a name that she would have chosen, but Tambrey didn't think it the worst name in the world.
The reassurances did actually work as reassurances, which was nice. There was a visible relaxation in her behaviour, like a subtle 'deflate'. There was a little bit of a nervous smile in learning that, yes, Claire was an agent, but still, she seemed like a nice, tolerant agent and hardly scary at all. "Um. Thank you..." was followed by an awkward pause as Tambrey found more things to worry and wonder about. "Can I ask where you work? I mean, I'm in the labs, but I don't even know the people there all that well." It was sort of an apology, just in case.

With one more bark, Artemis bounded towards Treestar with her tongue lolling out of her mouth. She loved a good game of chase! Almost as much as hide-and-seek!
Claire waved away the thank you as she slipped back into the pool and started floating on her back, arms moving languidly. "The labs? I've never been in there, but then again anyone who doesn't work there isn't allowed inside." She was incredibly curious about what was in there, but not so much as to risk trying to sneak in. "I'm in espionage, infiltration, that sort of thing - but mostly I'm a field agent." It was sort of funny - she didn't think being a field agent entailed this much paperwork. Still, she was quite happy to be in her position, and she wasn't about to complain.
Suddenly she had the peculiar feeling that she was being watched, so she turned around to look - and looked into a pair of narrowed, malice-filled blue eyes glaring at her out of the water. Claire pursed her lips and narrowed her own hazel eyes. "Behave, Jasmine," she chided the water-type.
A low growl echoed across the water as the spotted Vaporeon dove down again.

"Reee!" Treestar called gleefully, stumbling over as he turned and then trotting off as fast as his little legs would allow him, leaf fluttering as the game began. This was the first time, since he'd gotten here, that he'd had a real playmate. Palu was not really 'play-friendly', Pygi was, but she was a bird and far too soft to make chase fun, Lasi had to be the best at everything and everything was a race, it was best to not even mention Neph, while Ella was far too sweet and concerned about hurting someone in a game of chase. Playing with Artemis was the best fun so far.
Tambrey nodded. "Well. I'm not allowed to do much in there, even if I'm allowed in. Grunt level kind of restricts the things that I have permission for and the jobs I get assigned to do..." Infiltration and espionage sounded fascinating and a little intimidating again, but still Claire seemed nice. "What's it... like?" To be a field agent, she meant; Tambrey had never really seen herself as being cut out for something like that, despite holding some interest. She had, however, tried her best on the Spinarak-mech encounter... That mission had left her with a broken arm.
Tambrey slipped herself down into the water, still holding the side for a moment as she heard the agent warn the Vaporeon. Hm.
Palu had decided to roost a little back from the pool, one eye closed, one open, alternating between watching the Chikorita and Growlithe play chase and what the other bird was doing. The humans were probably fine and swimming wasn't that interesting.

Artemis normally didn't have anyone to play with - unless you counted Blue, but all she did was pounce in order to chew or gnaw someone's ear or tail off, and that was no fun at all - so the Growlithe was absolutely ecstatic about this chance to play with another pokemon!
"Ah, yeah, it's like that in every department. They'll likely allow you access to more once you're promoted to agent." Though since she didn't know this grunt at all, she had no idea of knowing when that would be. Not that it was a set thing for anyone anyway. The next question caused her brow to furrow slightly. "What do you mean, what's it like?" In other words - be specific, please.
A sudden angry snarl distracted Claire, and she turned, eyebrows raised in surprise, to see Jasmine baring her pearly whites at Tambrey. Her fins were standing tall and after a moment - apparently she'd just surfaced after hanging around near the bottom of the pool - the ridges along her back poked up above the surface. Ripples formed behind her as her tail lashed back and forth beneath the water. "Jasmine," Claire said sternly, "stop it and behave, or you're going back into your ball immediately." The water-type turned to glare and growl at the agent instead. Claire accepted the challenge and narrowed her eyes. "I'll leave you in it for a full week, and no pool for three months." The growling stopped, though her teeth remained partially bared, and she did not look pleased at all. Her fins lowered, the wet metal earrings attached to them clinking dully before she hissed softly, then disappeared underwater again.

Aw, the Chikorita was going to be sad about leaving Artemis later. She was an excellent playmate and, with no interest in gnawing, Treestar was doing his very best to be as entertaining a playmate for her. He was liking this new home a lot so far; it was turning out very fun.
Tambrey was tempted to add 'if that ever comes' but then again she wasn't too sure she minded being grunt beyond the lab restrictions. She could be patient and better she was actually ready for something than suddenly finding herself with so much more to worry about. Still, a little more freedom would be nice. She twitched her lip as clarification was asked for and tried to think of how to better phrase what she meant... "Um. To do that? Espionage and sneaking around? And- ah.. um.." She'd backed herself up against the side of the pool as the Vaporeon had appeared and started growling. At Claire's success at getting the water type to 'behave', Tambrey breathed a sigh of relief and then looked curiously to the agent. "How do you get her to listen to you like that?" It was very interesting, given how much resistance Tam' encountered from Neph every time she tried to use her.

The playful Growlithe caught up to Treestar and gently nudged her side with her nose. She then dropped into another play-stance, her behind wiggling in the air and tail wagging rapidly from side to side. Suddenly she barked - a higher pitched, excited sound - then bounded off in the other direction. Her turn!
Claire hardly paid attention to Tambrey's elaborated question - mostly because she was too busy still glaring after Jasmine. Once the water-type was back down at the very bottom of the deepest part of the pool, the agent turned to regard the grunt again with a mildly frustrated sigh. She ran a hand through her wet hair again to push it out of her face. "I'm sorry, I'm still trying to tame her." Not that she wasn't originally domesticated, but the Vaporeon seemed to be having quite the time adjusting from being a spoiled, pampered pokemon living in the lap of luxury to being a tool that belonged to Team Rocket.
Hazel eyes slid to the water-type again, noticing Jasmine floating with her head and fins above the surface, glaring at them both. At least she was in the farthest corner, so Claire mentally shrugged and focused on Tambrey again. "Threats seems to be most effective. If she behaves, she can come swimming, which is the best reward I can offer her. I'm not sure what else she likes, she turns her nose up at everything I try to feed her. Her owner spoiled her rotten right to the core, so she's been incredibly difficult to deal with thus far, the stubborn thing." A right pain in the a**, to be sure. "If she misbehaves, then I withhold pool time or keep her in her pokeball."
At the other end of the pool, deep blue eyes narrowed dangerously and her pale fins lowered at Claire's words. Spoiled rotten and stubborn, was she?

With tiny little legs like his, Treestar wasn't too good at the whole bounding thing. He could, however, trot and run after the puppy pokemon as fast as his legs would allow him. He nearly fell over in turning at the nudge, wobbling to turn his oddly shaped body around, a big grin on his face as he took up his roll of 'chaser' now. "Chee!" So he could easily be outrun by the canine fire type, but that didn't matter to him, nor did the fact that he'd probably tire out before the growlithe either.
Tambrey smiled, not as nervously as before but she had the wariness toward Jasmine now. "She obeyed though. Even if she'd difficult, she's listening to you, so something's working, right..?" Unlike Neph. She couldn't exactly threaten to take away Neph's swimming time... And, as far as she knew, Neph didn't actually like anything so she was at a loss at how to use that sort of thing to control her. Even keeping her in the pokeball didn't seem to affect her either way.
The grunt took off her glasses finally, waving Palu over to come and gently take them in her beak. "Put them with the bag and towel, okay?" She watched the blurry shape apparently obey before pulling the goggles onto her head and then down over her eyes. Not quite as good as her glasses, but still miles better than nothing. She looked for where that vaporeon had gone before slipping further into the pool.

Artemis paused at the other end of the pool and dropped into a play-stance again, orange eyes quickly looking for the Chikorita.. but noticed he was rather slow at chasing. Oh well, that wasn't hard to fix! With an excited yip, the Growlithe bounded halfway down the length of the pool again - towards the small grass-type - before she paused, spun in a circle, then bounded back the way she'd come originally, albeit this time with a lot of unnecessary diagonal bounds to keep her pace slower. It was no fun if she wouldn't ever be caught!
"I suppose so," Claire agreed slowly, hazel eyes searching for the Vaporeon again before she spotted the blurry shape beneath the water, still lurking in the deep end. That was good, at least... Though she didn't know that she'd call it 'listening' so much as 'temporarily ceding for about five minutes.' Ugh..
Jasmine continued to glare at the pair - or what she could see of them from beneath the water - but when Tambrey slid beneath the surface the bejeweled pokemon was quick to bare her fangs at the grunt, fins splayed and claws out. She was still on the other side of the pool though, possibly a foot or two below the surface.
