Today was the day the tikbalang was finally going to accomplish his little, self-assigned mission. He would have wanted the victory to be on his own merit but Petro had to accept that there were just some things he wouldn't be able to do on his own. Like staying under water for extended periods of time. Which was why he had resorted to going to the maul.
Which turned out to be a wonderful tactic because it was there he learned what he needed to do, where he needed to go, and whom to turn to for help. And it just so happens that said person was in the monster dorms! Quite convenient for the bipedal horse monster!
It took him some time (because he had to track down a gnome and properly extract the answer from said gnome) before he managed to arrive at the room of a certain monster. Another fortunate turn of events for Tro as he was on the same Bruteball team as the kelpie. He gave the door to Calder's room a couple of hard raps, "'Scuse me, Calder? 'S Petro from Bruteball. Y' in?"

Calder has not been expected company. He rarely did, but when he heard the knock on the door, he perked up. Laying belly down on the floor, he was just chewing on a sugar cube from a small bag he just bought and was reading a ghoulie magazine. It was only a recent discovery he had happened upon and he was finding the articles fascinating!
When he heard the mention of Bruteball, he closed the magazine and hide it in his Botany book, not wanting to be found out, and then hide the sugar cubes too. What? They were his!
"Uh, just a minute!" He called and rose up before moving over to the door. He paused to check his hair and then opened the door. "Hello...Petro." Hey, that rhymed!

"Hey ya. 'M glad y' remember me," Petro grinned, remaining outside. The kelpie hadn't invited him in and Petro knew better than to intrude into someone else's territory without permission or familiarity or any intention to pick a fight. "'M trying to catch me some aquatic minipet that they ain't got in the maul. Lizzy said y'd be someone I oughta turn to for help."
Why yes, Petro went straight to the point. He found dancing around the subject to be a waste of everyone's time and it wasn't as if he was insulting Calder in the process. Was he? The tikbalang wasn't very good at tact, unfortunately.

Calder didn't even think it was rude to invite the boil in and hadn't done so at this point because he was just surprised to see Petro there. They had only spoken a little during Bruteball practice, and one time was due to a misunderstanding at being called a horse. He didn't expect to be called upon for help, but he in no way was upset over it. In fact, he liked being called upon and puffed a bit at being known for catching water creatures. It was only natural to call upon him. Kelpies were THE BEST at anything dealing with water.
"Catching some water creature? I think Lizzy is a smart ghoul to send you my way. I've had a good deal of practice if I do say so myself." Yeah, he was not going to be modest in that department. He was catching water creatures since he could walk, and seeing as he knew how to walk only a few hours of being born, he had a lot of experience.
He stepped aside and gestured for the boil to enter. "Any idea what you are looking for? I might know a river or swamp we can go to to find it." He closed the door behind the boil once he entered.
Calder's room was that of a water monster which was why it was in the basement. Damp, with a thick moss carpet. A bathtub served as his bed, full of water, along with a pond in the corner. Leeches moved all about, fond pets of the kelpie's choice.

The horse boil gave a nod as he stepped past the threshold and into Calder's room. "Been looking for something that's got ink in it. Tried catching some'v 'em cephallatos but learned they squirt ice cream. Y' know'v any minis that's got ink in 'em?" Petro canted his head at the other boil, arms resting on his hips. The kelpie would know something that met Tro's description, wouldn't he?
"And this ain't no freebie 'm asking for. 'M willing to do something for y' in exchange for y'r help. Or maybe pay y' if y' name a price." Tro didn't know Calder well enough to expect the other boil to simply know the tikbalang would offer something as either a token of his appreciation or as a fair trade of services.

Calder shut the door, but didn't lock it. He wasn't the type to make anyone feel trapped. "Ink minipets? Hmmm." He looked up at the ceiling as he tried to think this over. "Well, there are a lot of new minipets I have seen and started to discover around these parts that I didn't see back home. I do think I recall a patch of swamp behind the monster dorms that they told me was a bit tricky. Something about ink if I remember. Haven't been curious enough to go over, but I'm rather good at catching anything that swims."
He turned to the boil, smiling. "We can see how difficult it is before you go around making deals. How about we check it out now? I haven't had a swim all day. Bit due for one." He said, stretching his arms from the kinks he got when reading. "You prepared to get wet?" He had to ask nowadays considering so many students he met either didn't know how to react around water or freaked out around it.

Petro quietly listened to the other boil's analysis of the situation, nodding in agreement. "Sounds fair. 'M a decent swimmer myself but 'm thinking these minis like to hide at the bottom. Ain't got the lungs'r the training for long-dives," he explained with a small smile. He wasn't trying to make an excuse. He was simply letting Calder know his limits. Even though he'd just informed the other boil of his willingness to get wet, Tro would rather be clear that: "Yeah, don't mind the water."
He turned towards the door, waiting expectantly for Calder to take the lead in this minipet hunt.
